[edit]Remove my userpage
[edit]Hi I would like to remove my userpage completeley. The article in my userspace was deleted and moved to mainspace but when i do a google search, this comes up...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Alisonpollack/Susan_Foster. I want the main article to stay but i doent want my name alisonpollack in any google searches. Thanks! Alisonpollack (talk) 00:21, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- The page User:Alisonpollack/Susan Foster no longer exists. We have no control over Google, but hopefully it will reindex relatively soon and realise that the page isn't there any more. - David Biddulph (talk) 00:47, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Cannot Correct Content on Locked Page
[edit]Stephen Harper (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This page is locked but it does not contain any current information about his contempt of parliament and other crimes including election fraud on at least two separate occasions. This article as it stands cannot be considered a good article because it is missing a lot of essential information. It would be like reading about Hitler with no mention of any crimes he committed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.130.183.238 (talk) 00:32, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps you can create your own account and add the information. Monterey Bay (talk) 00:56, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Alternatively, you can post your concerns on the talk page, where other editors can add the information if it is appropriate. Please be aware of the policy on biographies of living people: you need very solid references, which specifically back up your claims, in order to include information of that kind in an article or even on a talk page. --ColinFine (talk) 11:07, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Is it because of my computer or it is missing 2 pictures of the two presidents? The president 38 and 40.65.128.159.201 (talk) 01:02, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- The images have been deleted from Commons, see commons:Commons:Deletion_requests/File:REAGANWH.jpg for example.--ukexpat (talk) 01:11, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've updated the image links using the respective presidential images as used on articles Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. Wesley☀Mouse 01:14, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Edits in file namespace
[edit]How will I count how many edits I have in image file namespace? --SupernovaExplosion Talk 01:59, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- The default edit counter, the one available when you go to your contributions and then click at the bottom on "Edit count", breaks down one's edit by namespace. You currently have 3 edits in total in the file namespace.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:06, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! It is funny I did not notice the file edit count is available in the default counter. --SupernovaExplosion Talk 03:13, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Well, we've all experienced searching high and low for the pencil that was tucked behind our ear.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:20, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Capturing previous DYK main page screenshot
[edit]I had a lead DYK hook from Le Sommeil on 3 March 2012. Is it now possible to capture a screenshot of the DYK section of that day? Similar to this. --SupernovaExplosion Talk 03:21, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- It is archived at Wikipedia:Recent_additions/2012/March#4_March_2012. But is it possible to view it now in the Main Page? --SupernovaExplosion Talk 03:30, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks! Although it does not show my hook, I was not aware of Wikipedia:Main Page history. --SupernovaExplosion Talk 03:45, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Where is the proper place to announce that today someone became the first wikipedian with 1 Million edits?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:27, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Can't login to upload a photo
[edit]I can login to Wiki no problem. But when I navigate to this page: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard
It keeps telling me "Login error - Incorrect password or confirmation code entered. Please try again."
If I try to login again it gives me same errors. I have Firefox with cookies specifically enabled.

- Wikimedia Commons has a user named Hmarin who registered in 2006. Is that you? -- John of Reading (talk) 14:07, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- It is not, that is the problem. It has no contributions so it may be usurped though. NullSecRi (talk) 15:58, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
C'est moi. I can login to Wiki without a problem, but I can't login to that one page to upload a photo. I even tried to reset the password, but I'm not even getting an e-mail to do so. The e-mail on my account is correct. -- Hmarin (talk) 16:46, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- According to the SUL page, that account does not belong to you; you'll have to usurp it on Commons. - Purplewowies (talk) 18:24, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- This thread is continuing over here, since this one will disappear into the archives too quickly. -- John of Reading (talk) 06:59, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Lack of SSL for login/registration on Wikipedia
[edit]The login and register pages here on Wikipedia do not use SSL, and I am curious to know why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.86.100.36 (talk) 16:43, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Extended captions for a photograph depicting an invidivual
[edit]I'm uploading a picture for an artist and I wanted to go simply beyond the caption. I wanted to fill in information that one would typically find on an individual's image, ie. in the same manner that Jeff Koons' picture lists where he's from...etc. How would I go about doing that? Do I need to upload a new photograph? Or simply add it to the file's description? I'm rather confused.
Also, will every single thing I do to the image be shown in its image history? How can I avoid that? I've added so many files it seems with no end result. Well, anyway- thank you. Looking forward to the input.
Yonnivalencia (talk) 17:47, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- That information is not in the image or its file; it is in an "infobox". The captions itself should be terse, as the caption is on the image of Koons in the example article you linked to. And yes, by definition, we preserve the history of every edit to every file in Wikipedia, including the ones which are eventually removed for some reason. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:10, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Having View History Logs Entries Removed or Changed
[edit]Wikipedia has logged out when I pressed the save button without me releasing and now my IP address is publicly displayed which I never agreed to how do I get a moderator to change the view history?
User talk:Yachty4000 18:26, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- An admin may come and change it. What page were you editing? I would leave a note at the Administrator's noticeboard. Ryan Vesey Review me! 18:36, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Or you can request oversight at Wikipedia:Requests for oversight--SPhilbrick(Talk) 20:29, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks both for your advise! the good thing about wikipedia is the community when you have an issue. I have e-mailed the oversights team great advise thankyou both I found the moderator thing throw help but not oversight requests User talk:Yachty4000 22:36, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

What's next?
[edit]Came across the article "Resident spy" today. It's a stub with very little info that is poorly written and all unsourced. This was noted 5 years ago and nothing has been done to improve or expand the article in that time. So... what's next? Should the article be moved somewhere? (Isn't there some place where certain editors like to 'rehabilitate dead or dying' articles?) Should whatever content in it that does have any value be moved/merged to a different article dealing with the same subject? Should it be just be considered for deletion altogether? Perhaps someone here could have a look at it decide what, if anything, should be done. - thewolfchild 18:45, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- WP:PROD or WP:AFD as non-notable?--ukexpat (talk) 18:49, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Disagree. I'd recommend perusing WP:BEFORE. There are a few steps that someone genuinely interested in improving Wikipedia should take before PROD/AfD. If possible, the best idea is to improve the article. Only progress to PROD/AfD if it's truly a lost cause. -Thibbs (talk) 02:10, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- Strange article. TML vivic (talk) 16:00, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Hidden Categories
[edit]I just updated All Saints Catholic School (Omaha) with coordinates, however, there are still two hidden categories still listed. How do you go about removing the hidden categories from the article? swinquest (talk) 19:09, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- They are coming from the {{coord missing}} template. If you remove the template it should get rid of them. Monty845 19:12, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

[edit]I recently edited a specific subject because of more information that I was able to retrieve. When I checked back a little while later, my edit was gone. Please tell me why. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.186.11.142 (talk) 19:31, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Here is the edit that removed your edit: [1]. The editor cited the original research policy. You will have better results if you include a reference to a reliable source with your info. Best, The Interior (Talk) 19:35, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Where to add links to an "orphan" tagged entry?
[edit]The links to an orphan article are these synonymous with the "external articles" ?
Thank you. Need clarification.
Yonnivalencia (talk) 19:40, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- They are incoming links to the orphan article from other Wikipedia articles.--ukexpat (talk) 19:50, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

- The account's name was short for the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library, of which Updegrove is the director. The account has gotten a causjbhjgjghfjfhblock, and I've put a COI notice on the article. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:20, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Tool to find articles an editor created
[edit]What tool can I use to find all the articles created by a particular user? Edison (talk) 21:37, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Go to their contributions page and click the link at the bottom titled "Articles created". For instance, here are yours. Note: I just copied the link. Toolserver.org hasn't actually returned any results for me for a few minutes now. Dismas|(talk) 21:49, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
