- Does this happen at http://en.wikipedia.org without being logged in? What is your browser? It sounds to me like something in your browser and not something done by Wikipedia. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:36, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
User Warnings
[edit]Is there a ranking for the amount of warnings for a user? Thanks JeremyMcClean (Talk) 00:50, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Never mind, found it. JeremyMcClean (Talk) 00:55, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
I found a movie called Rag_Tag_(film) and it should go under the category Nigerian LGBT-related films. Nigerian LGBT-related films is not an existing category. Can you make it so that it is? Thanks!Neptunekh2 (talk) 01:41, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- I have created Category:Nigerian LGBT-related films. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:29, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Sorting by age
[edit]Wikipedia:Age calculation templates lists various templates, but none seem to address the need of List of living centenarians--display the age in years only, but hide the years+days so that sorting will work at the detailed level. I'm looking for advice as to whether I should...
- Create {{age years nts days}} with the desired functionality
- Use {{Age in years and days}}, changing the appearance of the article to include days in addition to improving the sort.
- Take advantage of some other undocumented solution
- Other (specify): ____________
Matchups 03:23, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Template:Age#See also lists {{Age nts}}. Does that work for your purpose? PrimeHunter (talk) 04:01, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Can you please restore a wikipedia article?
[edit]http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=134165029947876&v=info&ref=ts
as evidenced in the above facebook group, 39 people would like this article restored http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_Zorro
It was deleted because it was "not notable; a single event," when in fact it was notable to a large suburban community and covered by national news syndicates. Additionally, there were several "Naked Zorro" incidences, a fact which you can corroborate with this news article: http://abcnews.go.com/US/LegalCenter/story?id=1128793&page=1, and in other articles in print if you care to dig them up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.49.95.4 (talk) 04:11, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Deletion review is the place to request this, but you will have to come up with a better argument than "39 people would like this article restored" and one reference. – ukexpat (talk) 14:22, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

- It is against wikipedia policy to offer anything for sale through the website, let alone fraudlent offers of service. Regarding copyrights, the article seems to include a bit of marketing fluff copied from somehwere which editors will be quick to remove.Ktlynch (talk) 11:21, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Monetary value comparsions/In today's money
[edit]Hi all,
In the Oscar_Wilde#London_life_and_marriage and again here, I've mentioned monetary sums and am trying to demonstrate their relative value to each other and in terms of today's purchasing power parity. I've seen wiki-code before that converts the value automatically so it does not become out-of-date. Could anyone point me towards a relevant policy or guideline, piece of code or offer other advice. Thanks and best wishes,--Ktlynch (talk) 11:28, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia university outreach
[edit](Apologies for submitting this twice--it appears that I did not fully understand the form the first time.)
I was advised by a Wikipedia editor to request that this issue be escalated to an administrator: I read in the New York Times last week that (someone involved in) Wikipedia has begun working with university faculty at several U.S. universities to recruit students in their courses to produce Wikipedia pages; unfortunately the article did not say whom to contact. I am teaching a research seminar this Fall that would be an appropriate candidate for this. Can someone please put me in contact with someone involved in this outreach project? Thanks.

- It sounds like something from Wikipedia:School and university projects but I'm not involved and haven't seen the New York Times. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:28, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for your interest. The coordinator of this program is Sage Ross, contacting him directly (via email or otherwise) would seem to be the best way to go. Wikipedia:Campus Ambassadors is a good overview of the universities currently involved. I'm looking forward to seeing a new course added to the list! Cheers, sonia♫ 12:32, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
I created a page using the wizard, but I don't know how to get it to actually show up?
[edit]Hi all,
I created my first wikipedia entry and I don't know what to do with it to make it show up when you search wikipedia. Does it need to be peer reviewed? Is there a step I'm missing?
Thanks

- Please see WP:MOVE, but at the moment it is not ready for mainspace as it is a blatant copyright violation of http://www.michaelungar.com/ungar_9632.html and obviously way too promotional in tone. I have tagged for deletion as a copyvio, sorry. – ukexpat (talk) 14:26, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) The article you created is still in your userspace and would need to be moved to the mainspace. However, the article still needs a lot of work. I do not see any reliable sources to support the subject's notability. I would encourage you to read our info on writing your first article for some tips. TNXMan 14:27, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Can't figure out coding; please help
[edit]{{User IU}} has simply the letters "IU" instead of an image, so I'd like to add the university logo (don't worry, it's {{PD-textlogo}}) instead. However, I can't figure out how to get it to display properly; when I put File:Indiana U logotype.png instead of the letters "IU" in the box, the image's background is grey instead of white or transparent. What did I do wrongly in this edit? Nyttend (talk) 15:20, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Better? un☯mi 15:29, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

[edit]I have the hot pink razor and it was locked by T-Mobile. I live in Tortola British Virgin Islands and must subscribe to the local phone service. How do I unlock my phone so that it will work with the local network ?

- Hello. I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over three million articles, and thought that we were directly affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is a help desk for asking questions related to using the encyclopedia. Thus, we have no inside track on the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck. Integrating Wikimedia Commons image into Wikipedia infobox
[edit]I've been trying to integrate this picture into the infobox of this article, but somehow I didn't succeed.

[edit]how do i remove an advertising tag from an entry once it has been edited for neutral language? Hthayerwalker (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:44, 27 August 2010 (UTC).

"intitle" & "lookfrom" search options for section titles ?
[edit]I find the "intitle" & "lookfrom" search options very useful to find articles relating to a subject of interest. However it would also be useful if i could look for section titles using "intitle" & "lookfrom". I bet there are plenty of sections tucked away which would be of interest to me and i might llke to link to.--Penbat (talk) 17:54, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
If it isnt possible with standard Wiki software, perhaps somebody could do a couple of searches for me on my behalf using specialist Wiki software.--Penbat (talk) 19:12, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

[edit]I would like to add additional pages to two (2) separate books through the book generating program. Is it possible to have Multiple books in progress at the same time?

anyway of getting new Wiki articles only relating to psychology ?
[edit]I do keep an eye on Special:NewPages but it makes my eyes glaze over seeing countless new articles on villages in Croatia etc. --Penbat (talk) 19:21, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- It's a frequent request; but there's no way to do it. Most new articles are without categories, among other things. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:38, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Labshare
[edit]A lot of information in the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labshare is wrong (especially the older versions which it keeps getting reverted to) and attacks Labshare and a number of Australian Universities.
The original page defames all of us who are employed by LabShare by alleging nepotism , financial and technical mismanagement.
The main LabShare website is http://www.labshare.edu.au/
Our software has been released under an open source license and is available from source forge at http://sourceforge.net/projects/labshare-sahara/files/ I have added this information to the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labshare and posted this same information to the discussion page.
