Wikipedia:Good articles/mismatches
This is a maintenance page for the Good Article project. It displays mismatches between articles labeled as Good Articles, articles that have undergone a Good Article review and articles listed at the Good Article home page. If an article appears here, a mistake has likely been made or a step in the review process has been forgotten. Ideally, the first four sub-headers should be empty.
Gambot automatically generates the page three times a week (Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday @ 6:30am), replacing the complete page. Thus for example manually deleting entries as they are fixed is acceptable since the new report will concur the pages are fixed. Other types of manual edits like adding entries, inline comments or changing the section headers would be overwritten.

Resolving mismatches
[edit]Mismatches can occur for a variety of reasons and are usually easy to resolve.
In Category:Good articles but not Category:Wikipedia good articles
[edit]These articles have the {{Good article}} template on the article page (creates the green spot), but are not listed as having a successful review. It pays to check the history to see how this has occurred. Possible reasons include:
- The {{Good article}} template has been added to the article when no review has been conducted. This is the most common reason and usually happens when a new editor copies an existing Good Articles infobox and forgets, or doesn't know, to remove the template. Sometimes it is added by editors who do not understand the Good article process. In this case just remove the {{Good article}} template from the article. You may wish to inform the editor that added the template of the nomination process
- The article has been reviewed, but the review has been deleted from the talk page. A search of the talk page history should allow the review to be located and reinstated.
- The article has been delisted, but the {{Good article}} template has not been removed.
- The article has been delisted without anyone conducting a official reassessment. An individual or community reassessment needs to be done in order for the article to be delisted. The incorrect delisting can be reverted and the editor responsible referred to the reassessment page
- The
current status
field is empty in the {{Article history}} template. It needs to say|currentstatus=GA
for the article to be placed in the Wikipedia good articles category.
In Category:Wikipedia good articles but not Category:Good articles
[edit]These articles are listed as having successfully passed a Good article review, but do not have the {{Good article}} template on the article page. Possible reasons include:
- The {{Good article}} template has been removed. In this case just add the {{Good article}} template near the top of the article or revert to the version that contained the template. Sometimes this can be the result of vandalism so it might pay to check the current version.
- Legobot has missed adding the {{Good article}} template. It can be added manually.
- The article has been delisted, but the {{Article history}} template has not been added. Unfortunately there is no automatic means to update or add the article history from the {{GAR/link}} template and it has to be done manually.
- The article has been redirected to another article. Make sure the redirection is not vandalism. If it is a legitimate redirect it can no longer be a Good article. Update the article history to indicate that the article is delisted (example). Link to the merge discussion or create a section explaining why it is delisted (example). The delisted article should also be removed from the Good article list.
- The
current status
field still says "GA" in the {{Article history}} template after a delisting. It needs to say|currentstatus=DGA
for the article to be removed from the Wikipedia good articles category.
In Category:Good articles but not on Wikipedia:Good articles/all and On Wikipedia:Good articles/all but not in Category:Good articles
[edit]Often this is simply a case of the reviewer forgetting to add the article when it is passed, or remove it when it is delisted. Check the status of the article and either add it to the appropriate list or remove it. Any article that has since become a Featured Article should also be removed.
In a subcategory Category:GA-Class articles but not a good article
[edit]This class of errors is not currently tracked by Gambot. To find articles that were erroneously tagged as GA-class, follow these steps:
- Go to this query and modify the format option of the output tab to "Wiki".
- Run the query and copy the output list into your sandbox.
- Create an AWB list of the "links of page" from your sandbox.
- Add a find-and-replace to AWB to set
class=GA
andclass = GA
to justclass=
.
If you want to add an extra check, convert your sandbox list to articles, and then do another PetScan run to filter for pages that are missing {{Good article}}.
