Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Disambiguations
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Disambiguations. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Disambiguations|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Disambiguations. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

[edit]- Japanese occupation of India (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
A non-essential disambiguation page. Obviously made up by creator, and no claim of significance. There's no such thing like "Japanese occupation of India" to begin with, nothing more than a hoax. Garudam Talk! 10:23, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Events, History, Military, Politics, Social science, Disambiguations, Japan, Myanmar, India, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, United Kingdom, and Islands. Garudam Talk! 10:23, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Redirect to India in World War II, where both entries/links are already present. Clarityfiend (talk) 21:28, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Redirect to Japanese occupation of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands would be appropriate, because it is the only confirmed instance of Japanese occupation in India, making it the most relevant topic. Aryan{Talk} 02:55, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Turnip (terminology) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
Should be a dismabiguation page instead - etymology content in the article is better placed on Wiktionary LR.127 (talk) 19:51, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

- Change to Disambig I created this article decades ago, but Wikipedia was a different animal then, and I wouldn't do it now. I have no objection to changing this into a disambig, but that is not the same as deletion. The only hesitation I have is that we don't normally have pictures in a disambig article, but they really do help to disambiguate this topic. In principle I disagree with the assertion that etymological information belongs in Wiktionary - it is often a very important part of a Wikipedia article, but this is not such a case. Doric Loon (talk) 20:06, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- I put this in AfD for deletion because Turnip (disambiguation) already exists - at most, I think a "merge" consensus would be appropriate, merging any appropriate content from the terminology article to the disambiguation article. LR.127 (talk) 20:30, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- @LR.127 Ah, I see. OK. Doric Loon (talk) 11:20, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

- Merge appropriate listings to Turnip (disambiguation) and crosswiki the rest as needed. Bobby Cohn (talk) 21:35, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- Beidu (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

Already a disambiguation page exist as Beidou (disambiguation). kemel49(connect)(contri) 19:05, 27 November 2024 (UTC)

- Comment: This refers to 北都, meaning "northern capital" in Chinese (and presumably also Japanese and Korean). The equivalent disambiguation pages are zh:北都 and ja:北都. Both contain quite a few more entries than we have here. I will try to expand this and ask that it be kept once I do. Toadspike [Talk] 21:10, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Just realized that the Japanese entries are more appropriate at Hokuto. I've added a link in the See also section. This means my additions are complete. Toadspike [Talk] 22:12, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: I added three Beidus found in other existing pages. Geschichte (talk) 21:21, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Keep, probably good enough now Geschichte (talk) 16:04, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

- Keep. I've added all the entries from zhwiki, and Geschichte has added some mentions from here on enwiki. This is now a valid, useful DAB page. Toadspike [Talk] 21:55, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Keep per additions by Toadspike. Procyon117 (talk) 15:14, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
Only one topic besides the primary topic. GilaMonster536 (talk) 00:34, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

- Keep. There is a third topic listed there, under “see also”. Mario Falconi was moved to that section a couple years ago after being disambiguated with the other topics above. Per WP:SMALLDETAILS, a small spelling variant can be a valid reason to disambiguate and that would make this a three-topic dab page. Dclemens1971 (talk) 03:28, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Keep. I added an Italian screenwriter to the page. There are now clearly enough targets for a disambiguation page.4meter4 (talk) 16:44, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
