About
[edit]What is the Movement Charter Drafting Committee?
[edit]As part of the Wikimedia Foundation's Movement Strategy process, a Movement Charter is being written to define "the roles and responsibilities for all in the Wikimedia Movement". It will in a sense be a 'constitution' for the Wikimedia movement for the future. The Movement Charter Drafting Committee will create a draft of this Charter. The process for creating the Charter, and the process for agreeing/ratifying the final draft, are not specified and the Committee will have significant influence over these processes.
The Committee will have 15 members: 7 to be elected by the global Wikimedia community (with a maximum of 2 committee members per Wikimedia project), 6 to be selected by the Wikimedia affiliates, and 2 who have been selected by the Wikimedia Foundation. The candidates elected by the community will be selected by Single Transferable Vote. For more information about the selection process, see the meta description page.
Who are the candidates?
[edit]70 candidates are running for a seat on the Drafting Committee. Information about the candidates is available on meta. In addition, the Foundation is piloting an "Election Compass" feature for interactive insights on how closely candidates align with you.
Dušan Kreheľ created a tool for visualizing the candidates' responses to the election statement.
