Vav-Tharad is a district of Gujarat, India. It is located on the eastern side of the Rann of Kutch with its headquarters at the city of Tharad.

Vav-Tharad was carved out from the existing Banaskantha district in January 2025, making the newly existing thirty-fourth district of the Gujarat state of India.[2][3]

Geography

Vav-Tharad shares its borders with Rajasthan state in the North, Banaskantha district in East, Kutch district in West and Patan district in the South.

According to the 2011 census Vav-Tharad district has a population of 1,380,870,[1] roughly equal to the nation of Swaziland.[4] The district has a population density of 220 inhabitants per square kilometre (570/sq mi) .[1]
