Arthropod stubs
Hi ZooFari. In the last couple of days I tried to put some order to the list of arthropd stub templates on the WikiProject Arthropods project page. In doing so I came across the stub-sorting work you were doing (eg, elaterid stub template). I created {{cockroach-stub}} and Category:Cockroach stubs on the basis of consistency within WikiProject Arthropods. I then saw (somewhere) the WPSS banner on another template or category page. So I thought I would draw your attention to what I've been up to, so that it doesn't get in the way of what you're up to.
Seeing today that there are stub templates below {{crustacean-stub}} and {{arachnid-stub}} templates, I intend to add these to the project page as well. Do you see any issues with that? Heds (talk) 05:19, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes yes, we need more organization to gather all stub templates we can find. Would you like the ones I've created so far so you can add them to the project page? ZooFari 22:21, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes please. Either here or at my talk page. Heds (talk) 00:34, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- I've posted them at your talk page. ZooFari 00:38, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Cheers. Feel free to post more as you come across them and I'll keep updating the project page. Heds (talk) 00:44, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Would you consider redirecting this article to Franz Mesmer right now?
Instead of having to wait 7 days, I can close the Afd right now, and only a redirect will remain.
Please let me know as soon as possible, because as soon as someone else comments on the AfD, they must agree also before I can redirect the article and close the AFD.Ikip (talk) 20:26, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, consider redirecting in the future, it is much easier :) I think you deserve this:

Speedy deletion nomination of User:ZooFari/Inspection/Tools/Article 1
A tag has been placed on User:ZooFari/Inspection/Tools/Article 1, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

RfA numbering
Please remember to place a # in front of any comment you make on the vote tallies, otherwise it screws up the numbering. Good luck. Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat 22:02, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Even if they are replies? Sorry, I don't participate in RFA often... ZooFari 22:05, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. Yes, at the start of each like you need to have a hash in order for numbering to work correctly. If you want to indent, you would do so like this: #: You can stack up many colons on top if you need to. Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat 22:15, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
RfA
Hi Zoofari - I just voted "oppose" on your RfA, but wanted to add a personal note. You're doing great work here, and I hope you aren't discouraged by any aspect of the RfA process. If you'd like clarification on or want to counter my oppose, I'm very happy to discuss it, and won't take it as "badgering". All the best, Gonzonoir (talk) 16:16, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
RfA
I closed your RfA per the withdrawl. Another editor (Pedro) had refrained from closing it earlier, because he was a participant - I voted, too, although I ended in the neutral section, and closing a candidate's RfA upon their own "withdraw" request doesn't seem controversial. Anyway, best of luck. Hope the feedback at your RfA can be useful for the future, and in the meantime keep up the good work. JamieS93 21:57, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Polite disagreement
Let's take it as given that you and I will probably never see eye to eye about the valued pictures program. All things being equal, I wouldn't have wanted the program for MFD right now--mainly because the issue has been such a source of strife in the past. But looking over Shoemaker's nomination, I decided he was right. The vehemence of your disagreement has been apparent for a long time; the reasoning behind that position is less clear. Please consider refactoring the accusation of phobia; I'll gladly remove my adjacent comment about civility if you do.
What I'd like to gain is a better understanding of your position, if that's possible. Excuse me if this seems simplistic, but when I've asked for the reasons in support of it I can't recall any better answer than an analogy between FA and GA. That analogy breaks down pretty quickly because text can be improved so much more readily than media: most GAs could become FAs; that doesn't carry over to media, where usually one has to start over from scratch. Do you disagree with that criticism? Are there other reasons in support of VP? If you want to persuade me to soften my opinion, your best opportunity is now. Durova321 13:54, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
Adoption template

Bryozoan image
Hi, Zoofari, thanks for your message. Unfortunately the image at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop#Bryozoan does not meet the requirements I specified there, which included a link to a non-free pic as a guide (when that went offline, I added the Internet Archive copy of the same pic to the requirement). I already had a "standard" bryozoan image I made - it's a little cruder than yours, but the cartoonish appearance of mine is in some ways clearer for a diagram showing the main components of such an animal. What I asked for was a pic of a specific type of bryozan (class Cheilostomata: a one-animal thick layer spread over a surface; these animals have mineralised external skeletons and lie on their sides, and the internal components are therefore differnetly arranged compared with the "basic" model). I regret the waste of your time and effort. --Philcha (talk) 17:52, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Okey doke, I wasn't the one who dealt with the request though. Would you mind if you share the new file at the lab and mark the section resolved? Or you can just specify your alternative and mark it resolved. The bot is running slow for stale tags. Thanks, ZooFari 20:34, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, I understand about mark it resolved to clear the queue. What you mean about "share the new file" or "specify your alternative"? --Philcha (talk) 20:44, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Just say something like "thanks, but I already took care of it" or something similar. That will be enough for a resolve. Thanks, ZooFari 20:50, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, done. --Philcha (talk) 20:53, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Copyright Question
Sorry, I'm new to Wikipedia and I'm not sure what the protocol is here. I hacked out the clip manually, put the map in three layers (water, main, and state_border) with the border on top, made sure all counties had consistent fill and stroke, cut out the part of the border that was causing problems with the water (the outside edge of which should not have a border, and have this on my system. Do I just upload and overwrite ZooFari's copy? Should someone look at it first, and if so how do we get files back and forth?Donlammers (talk) 12:38, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Never mind. I managed to track down the USGS 3.5' satellite downoads and get the ones I needed. As far as I can tell, these are OK to use because they are government documents free for the download. Donlammers (talk) 01:14, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

- Sadly I don't know how to fix the border. These maps were done the old way with tweaked document properties, something I have no clue how it works. Attempt to drag the border or an empty county on your Inkscape and you'll see what I mean. ZooFari 23:40, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

- I've been working with layers for years, though I'm new to InkScape and just getting used to it (so far I like it). I have a global account, and have already uploaded a few pictures there. I also found a "closer to source" template for NY State (not in layers, but also without the clipping layer that your original had) -- quite a bit cleaner, I think. A favor
I was wondering if you'd have time to do me a favor for an article I'm working on, Warinus de la Strode. I'd like to have his coat of arms put in, and I thought you'd be able to construct it pretty easily, considering some of the much harder things I've seen you do. It consists of basically image 1 , but with a black canton like image 2 (instead of red), which the black canton then needs to have a white crescent like image 3's yellow one. Let me know if you have any questions, or if you cant do it. Thanks in advance!Camelbinky (talk) 04:33, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Speedy delete vs 7-day period of grace
Greetings ZooFari. Is there any particular reason you changed my "Patent nonsense" speeedy delete tag for your 7-day period of grace for Interesting Names? Intrigued regards, --Technopat (talk) 01:44, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's a tag everyone abuses. It may not be at your intention, but patent nonsense is for articles with no meaningful content. Your preceding tag does not apply either, as the context is coherent with the title. There's no CSD tag that best fits, so PROD is the better tag. Cheers, ZooFari 01:48, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. I'm pretty certain that both articles are clear candidates for being considered nonsense by anyone's standards. But even if it is not "patent" nonsense, why should you prefer to leave it up for a whole week? Do you intend to clean it up yourself? Add inline citations? At least if it is tagged for speedy deletion it gets monitored by an admin who can then channel it off in whatever direction s/he sees fit. Regards, --Technopat (talk) 01:55, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't prefer leaving the article for a week, but the article does not fall into the criteria. That's what a PROD is for—articles that should be deleted soon but do not fall into any of the CSD criteria. ZooFari 01:59, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- We're getting nowhere fast here - I understand what PROD is for, but can you please explain why either of the two articles are not considered nonsense. Thank you. --Technopat (talk) 02:02, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Because patent nonsense is not applied to vandalism/unnotable articles. The tag should be applied only to pages with random letters or characters, or articles that are completely confusing or impossible to understand. Even poorly written material is not considered nonsense. See Wikipedia:Patent nonsense, which sums it up nicely. Cheers, ZooFari 02:07, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Of course there's no reason why poorly written material should be considered nonsense - merely an article to be cleaned up. So I take it you still reckon it's preferable to leave said articles hanging around for a week AND spend all this time that we could both be using more profitably in reverting bad faith edits, etc. I still don't get it, but let's leave it at that.--Technopat (talk) 02:15, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm only enforcing the rules, but that doesn't mean I don't agree with you. Many admins and CSDers don't even care anymore, so if you want, you can CSD it again. Cheers, ZooFari 02:18, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- It looks like the author requested deletion. ZooFari 02:24, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

- Thank you for your reply. I'm pretty certain that both articles are clear candidates for being considered nonsense by anyone's standards. But even if it is not "patent" nonsense, why should you prefer to leave it up for a whole week? Do you intend to clean it up yourself? Add inline citations? Arabic Wikipedia
I provided five reference links for the edits on the Arabic Wikipedia article. If you don't know to read Arabic (which seems to be the case) then don't act like an asshole by saying meaningless things. What nonconstructive editing are you talking about you idiot? You think I have nothing to do but pondering on what you mean?
- I will answer that when you ask me politely. ZooFari 00:19, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Look, even though I don't have neither the time nor the interest in arguing with you, I am going to say that your "good faith" is really a "not smart" thing to say (I am trying to be polite), because this is NOT A TALK PAGE BUT THE CRITICISM SECTION OF AN ARTICLE ON THE ARABIC WIKIPEDIA. I don't know what you do for a living, but you're definitely not a lawyer. Different laws apply to different things-- a law for talk pages does not apply in articles. I hope this is not too complicated for you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.178.224.178 (talk) 00:35, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Delist
I don't think you decreased the count for the seagull delist? --jjron (talk) 02:33, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Done. I got distracted by a message... I think. ZooFari 02:57, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

I don't use the "csd" tab at all, I have a "di" tab that appears only on image pages and use that tab. The "csd" tab didn't seem to work consistently as you mentioned, but the "di" tab does. Skier Dude (talk) 04:51, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yep - you got it :) Skier Dude (talk) 04:52, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Re:Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop/Top 4
Did I? I thought I put "File already exists" in the done by parameter. If I really did, sorry. --Jackl 08:46, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Thank you

WT:FPC
Please do not remove posts directly related to FPC again. Discussion of an attempt to subvert the FPC process is directly relevant to FPC, and it'd be far more disruptive and damaging to deal with it at ANI. I've had to think long and hard about whether to come forwards with this, and having it immediately censored is inappropriate. Shoemaker's Holiday Over 214 FCs served 20:08, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Re:Need some info on Dycebot
At present on both the illustration and photography pages it archives resolved sections after three days, marks pages stale after 14 days, and archives stale pages after 7 days. On the map page it archives resolved sections after three days, marks pages stale after 30 days, and archives stale pages after 30 days.--Dycedarg ж 01:34, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Shannon McCann
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Shannon McCann. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shannon McCann. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:17, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Helen Keller VP
Hello there. One of the Valued Pictures was cleaned up and promoted to FP, however the original unedited version is still a VP. Should this be fixed, or since there are two versions, should the VP one be removed? Nezzadar [SPEAK] 23:51, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm... The VP should have been the one to be edited during the FPC process. Oh well. Yes, disregard VP. ZooFari 23:55, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- "fixed" everything. Please check to see that I did it right. If I goofed, tell me at my talk page. Nezzadar [SPEAK] 00:25, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Copy Right
You left a message on my talk page concerning the copyright of the image File:SS09-earlydesign-white.png. I don't know how to change the CR, so can you? The copyright of the image belongs to SSAM and its subsidiaries. Cheers, Smudger94 (talk) 10:24, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
