Project Southeast Asia
Thanks for the invitation. However, I am busy with administrator responsibilities at the Vietnamese-language Wikipedia, so my activities at the English Wikipedia will only be limited to reverting vandalism and improving a limited number of articles in my watchlist. I don't know that much about Vietnam or SE Asia to be all that helpful. DHN 08:58, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Vietnam WikiProject
I am told you might be interested in a separate WikiProject for Vietnam, like Wikipedia:WikiProject Southeast Asia, I have posted the proposal at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council/Proposals#Vietnam_WikiProject Chris 04:13, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- Please, join us at Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam! Chris 04:07, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Joining WikiProject Southeast Asia
Thanks for the note on the Southeast Asia WikiProject, Bao. However, I think there is a seperate WikiProject Vietnam going on though. enderminh 11:04, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
What do you think about using the {{Infobox ethnic group}} template for all the population statistics at the beginning? Syntax is something like:
{{Infobox Ethnic group
|group = Overseas Vietnamese
|population = Total number
|region1 = {{flagcountry|Name of country}}
|pop1 = Number in country (year)
|ref1 = [http://www.example.com/]
|region2 = {{tl|flagcountry|Name of country}}
|pop2 = Number in country (year)
|ref2 = http://www.example.com/
...
|languages = Vietnamese
|religions =
}}
Looks more consistent among different articles on migration topics, like Iranian citizens abroad, Non-resident Indian and Person of Indian Origin, Overseas Chinese, etc, and we can add pictures to it too. Cheers, cab (talk) 00:13, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:DongSonDrumDesigns.png
Thank you for uploading Image:DongSonDrumDesigns.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 21:22, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
Project talk page tagging for WP:VIET
Blnguyen had requested me for the service of TinucherianBot to tag articles in the categories in Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam/Categories for the WikiProject Vietnam. I request the members to kindly have a look , carefully verify ALL the categories and remove all the possibly wrong categories. Please Dont misunderstand by being cautious here , as we have faced many issues with such huge scale bot tagging earlier. Once I get the final go ahead, I will start the bot with the final list. Thank you for choosing TinucherianBot for the project,. It is a pleasure working for this project...I have also left a note at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Vietnam#Project_talk_page_tagging and request your comments there. You are receiving this message as you are a member of the project. Thanks -- Tinu Cherian - 06:08, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Suspected hoax article
Hi. I was just wondering whether you could check out Lý Long Tường and see for yourself whether the article as it stands is a hoax. Although the historical figure described probably exists, I have strong reasons (mostly geographic) to believe that a large proportion of the article is simply blatant pseudo-history. I noticed that most, if not all, of the sources are from communist regimes or their agencies.
You might also want to check out Vietnamese people in Korea. The first section of this article also seems to be gibberish; fortunately, the rest seems plausible. David873 (talk) 13:13, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your advice. I just need to point out that the book edited by Taylor is really a collection of essays about religion, not about population movements or anything of that sort. Also, I discovered that some of the essays were written by Vietnamese when I visited this link[1].
It might also be helpful for you to express your views at Talk:Lý Long Tường since the discussion over there is becoming increasingly superficial. I have decided to refrain from making further comments there until the South Korean point of view actually surfaces. David873 (talk) 04:53, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Request for photos
Hi, I think you're the creator of this photo. I'm wondering if you'd change the permission information for it so that it can be uploaded to Wikimedia commons. I'd like to use it the article vi:Chiến dịch Cờ Vàng. Right now the photos are all from OC, so it's kind of monotonous. If you have a more striking picture or a more recent one, that'd be even better. Thanks. DHN (talk) 08:15, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- While you're at it, can you also upload an image of Madison Nguyen for that article? DHN (talk) 16:08, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Restored file
The file that you created in the Template:Prehistoric cultures of Vietnam was deleted. Could you restore it? 134.139.22.172 (talk) 01:29, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
Re: Formatting
I'm not aware of any guidelines, but your edit messed up the infobox display on my screen, forcing it to show 7 rows of images, each with either 1 or 2 photos. DHN (talk) 07:43, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Fair enough, then custom CSS is not guaranteed to work across multiple platform devices. Alright, that's good feedback to know! yellowtailshark (talk) 07:45, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 12
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tết, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sino-Vietnamese (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. A tag has been placed on Vietnamese Student Association (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
- disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. PamD 11:37, 21 August 2016 (UTC)
Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:03, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
