CfD Talk Page Deletions
Hello. I noticed that you deleted some of the categories that I emptied at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Working. It looks like you accidentally deleted the new talk pages instead of the old ones, probably since the old ones were redirects created by the page moves. I think it is just for the ones for Giant Panda and Indianapolis Ice. Also, I know that has happened with some others that I worked with other admins on, so I would appreciate any suggestions that you might have (perhaps intentionally break the redirect?) Thanks. --After Midnight 0001 15:04, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note, you got them all. BTW, is it just me or has the site been a little slow today? --After Midnight 0001 01:31, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry Xaosflux, but do you think you could check out the WP:BRFA page again, there's a backlog starting again. Hopefully your burdened will be lessened soon with the new approvals group members! Thanks so much! (No big rush, just letting you know) —Mets501 (talk) 19:38, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

RE: Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/DraiconeBot's awb delay in 'off peak' time
Hi xaosflux, Sorry to take your time, but I had just one last question. You mentioned I should set the AWB delay time to 12 seconds during off peak times. Could you please give me an indication of what these times are? I live in Australia (GMT+10) so I assume the time at which i run the bot would be around 6 in the morning for the majority of users (4-6 pm approx GMT+10). --Draicone (talk) 06:25, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

- All pages can be deleted, but they require deletion by a sysop. Typically there is no pressing need to delete a user page for a dceased editor, although an edit-block may be placed against that account. re: userpage
Thanks for the message, xaosflux. I understand how this can confuse people, and give the impression of either a newbie or a departing editor (As with the way people were shocked when all the userpage links in User:CanadianCaesar's signature went red a few days ago.) I've already changed my signature in preferences so that it reads as [[User talk:Picarcoon9288|]], and am prepared for people to wonder what has happened to me/whether I'm a noob (who must be a sockpuppet because he is citing policy on afds!! ;D). However, I've already had a talkpage link in my signature for at least a month, and places older than that where I have signed my name are unlikely to be stumbled across. If there is a significant amount of trouble, I will heed your words and recreate the page as a redirect to my talkpage (I'm not a very prominent editor, so I doubt there will be). However, for now at least, I would like it deleted. Just so you don't have to check through the history, making sure there is nothing of reason to keep, the only editors have been myself, vandals, the vandalism reverter(s?), and mass template and category fixers (I'm not suggesting that you wouldn't assume good faith, just making sure you don't have to bother looking through the whole history.) Also, my ip address is in the page history, and eliminating that, as well as the stated vanity distraction, is an added reason to restate my request for deletion. Thanks, xaosflux. Picaroon9288 19:06, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Again, thank you, xaosflux. On another note, thanks for fixing up the work I did in the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Standards area a week and a half ago. Picaroon9288 20:21, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Bot approvals subpage
Hi! I've noticed that there is an occasional backlog regarding the flagging off a bot by a 'crat. I suggest you create a subpage where the trascluded approved requests are placed by the approvals committee. A bureaucrat can then come along and set the flag. This would be very helpful to us as we would be able to put it on our watchlists and archive it. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 14:40, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Apparent discrimination?
Hi Xaosflux
I do not understand what is going on. Sloppy fact checking? Discrimination? What?
A while back I put my offical bio up on Wikipedia under my name because I am a best selling author and a public figure and people always want to know more.
I write my own words and publish my own photos and hold the ownership on all of it, as my own property. In other words I can do anything I wish with my own personal property and have full rights to it, and I chose to post it on Wikipedia, yet, you deleted my Ed McCabe pages. You have the bios of other authors listed, why are you discriminating against me?
Without even asking me about it or checking any self-evident facts, you deleted my page and assumed to tell me to write it in my own words, which it already was, and to not borrow images that were not borrowed from anyone or anyplace.
Please explain your apparent discrimination and heavy handedness.

- (copied from your talk) Personally I have no opionion as to the content of that page, however the entire text of that page appears to be the same as the text on amazon.com, of which they have claimed copywright (© 1996-2006, Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates). If you are the author of that text, it appears as if Amazon is attempting to pass it off as their own, and you should contact them for clarifiaction. If this is an autobigoraphical article, please see Wikipedia:Autobiography for editing details. Re: Open Proxy
I just removed this entry from WP:AIV, and failed to detect it as an open proxy, can you provide OP results to support that claim? — xaosflux Talk 02:47, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- The only edit to date shows the insertion of "\'" when it should just be an apostrophe. This is extremely common in open proxies. Ryūlóng 02:49, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Identity verification
The page is in no way related to any ongoing discussions - it hasn't been referenced in ages, and didn't come up at all in the Dave Carter discussion. I think it is in very poor form to keep an article that had unanimous consent to delete, and intend to reverse your decision - is there a good reason for me not to? Phil Sandifer 02:16, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- Don't bother with a DRV on Wikipedia:Identity verification, I assumed too much good faith in the comments made in the deletion discussion, after a much more thorough review there is no reason to hold up the emerged consensus in that discussion. I've deleted the page, it's talk page, and it's redirect, and updated The MFD record. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thanks, — xaosflux Talk 02:31, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the semi-protection. The article seems to be attractin a lot of weird people lately. Hopefuly this will make it stop. Good night, Asteriontalk 02:30, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I have no problems with the course of action taken, I agree this is a tenuious situation, and as I have stated previously one I would rather not have have had to have gone down and as lar has hinted at the only road the situation left open to me. I will be making good on my own decison to have the page deleted in the near future. Un-fortuatley as many users had pointed out to me an mfd so soon after the event has done nothing but "add fuel to the fire" Benon 03:53, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
admin assistance, but what kind?
I need some help with continued over- fansite- ing of Natalia Tena. User:Ayashe (and what I suspect is her sockpuppet, User:Poifect) repeatedly add fansites to that article, in violation of WP:EL and I'm not sure what course of action to take. I've posted to Ayashe's talkpage regarding WP:EL and I thought that solved it, but she replied a week later:
- I know exactly what the WP:EL states regarding fansites, and if you'd read the Natalia Tena talk page, you'd know that. "On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite may be appropriate, marking the link as such. Fanlistings are generally not informative and should not ordinarily be included." See the keyword here is many. Many. Say it with me. Many. That means constituting or forming a large number; numerous. On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite... If you want to change the Wikipedia policy, I suggest you take it up with the admins. But I really don't know what's wrong with you. I'm a liberal too but I don't go around being a bitch just for the sake of it. You are so mean and rude to people, and talk down to them all the time on here. That sounds more REPUBLICAN to me, and troll if I ever saw one. I find it hard to believe we are both Democrats, NPR listeners, Daily Show fans, and LGBT supporters. And BTW, it's not spamming when it's not your site, and you have nothing to do with that site.
Almost immediately after that rant was posted to my talk page, user Poifect added another fansite to the external links. Anyway, I just want this to end, but I don't know how to go about it. Please advise? Desertsky85451 15:41, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, I think I'll go to the mediation cabal for now. Since the sockpuppets aren't really vandalizing, and WP:EL isn't a rule so much as a suggestion, I'm not going to CHECK them yet. Desertsky85451 17:41, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

I did that rename to show that they (the metro systems) were in London but looking at you reasoning and thinking over some other categories and the like, i agree with you. However, now i want to put Category:London metros up for speedy rename again but this time to Category:London metro systems as metros is rather informal and i don't really think that would apply to convention either. Hi, Xaosflux -- hope it's okay to bug you with this.
This is just to say, "sorry for wasting your time, but I quit". The concept of my bot has been obsoleted and I'd like to cancel its approval request and end its trial period. My reasoning is here: Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/Cronbot#Nevermind
Could you help me with this? Thanks again. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 06:46, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Pretty much that's the connecto list that tor uses to work, it's pretty much as confirmed as possible. That site confirms everything - administrators already block on said information so I don't think it's a massive concern. The "bot" is moreso a script - Werdna wrote it but as he doesn't have the +sysop flag Jimbo suggested he asked someone else to run it. I get to be the monkey pressing the switch :) -- Tawker 13:01, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Re: Meta block list. It's a dynamically generated list off SBL's. AFIAK I don't even know if it's working, I thought we disabled that a while ago due to privacy fears. In any case, a proxy blacklist on meta (like the spam blacklist) (perhaps the list generated by a program - yes, I like automating non-human intervention needed tasks) would be better - this script is more of a stopgap than anything else. -- Tawker 06:26, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
