The goal was to gather a very wide range of diverse international opinions, because of the tremendous controversy associated with the previous requested-move (wheel-warring, arbitration, etc). It's for that reason that I took the highly unusual step of posting to completely unrelated regional WikiProjects, to try to get a definitive resolution. — P.T. Aufrette (talk) 04:33, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

It was definitely rather unusual but it would seem more appropriate to post on projects that at least have some connection with the issue rather than willi nilly cluttering several unrelated project talk pages. If Ireland had a town, village or townland by that name I could see a real point, otherwise Wikipedia:Requests for comment/History and geography would appear to be a better place. I considered removing all the non-related post but decided it was too much trouble. That's just my thoughts. ww2censor (talk) 05:07, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion about the history and geography RfC, I added that. I agree it's odd to post to unrelated talk pages, but in this case it was the whole point. :) — P.T. Aufrette (talk) 05:55, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Deleted Jenny Fulle image

Is File:Jennyatbat2.jpg same as deleted Jennyatbat.png? -- Brianhe (talk) 01:48, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

I don't think so. I've nominated it for deletion as missing a source. The uploader tried hard to convince me the image should be kept but failed to contribute to the deletion discussion at all and does not appear to understand the non-free policy. I suspect this is a copyright violation too. Thanks ww2censor (talk) 02:23, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
Great. This editor has a severe CoI which I can't divulge here due to WP:OUTING, but he is closely connected to the subject of the image. Feel free to email me if you need details. Brianhe (talk) 02:40, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
Per the conversation above and File:Jennyatbat2.jpg, this image is actually totally different from the deleted Jennyatbat.png. The latter image was a newspaper clipping that I could not get the rights to. I then went straight to Jenny Fulle and retrieved the current image, File:Jennyatbat2.jpg from her. Her stepfather took this photo when she was in little league and gave it to her. She confirmed that she owned the copyright and she sent an email to permissions explaining her ownership and permission, using the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License. I filled in the source information as best as I knew how. In your description on my talk page of what needs to be done, you said, "If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright." So I put that information in, and thought the issue was resolved, but obviously it wasn't, which I apologize for. Please let me know what further information you need from me so that I can prevent File:Jennyatbat2.jpg from being deleted. Thanks so much for your assistance.Jonathanhlud (talk) 17:12, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
As previously mentioned you need to get the copyright holder to verify their permission to the OTRS Team and you said they were doing so, however, the application of the tickets can take some time, sometime up to a month, so assuming they gave the image name, it will be restored when the permission is proven acceptable. Just wait as see if the consent come through. ww2censor (talk) 03:15, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Got it. Thank you so much for this. I appreciate all of your help and patience with me learning the wiki ropes.Jonathanhlud (talk) 16:38, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:37, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi! I wondered if you could list some notable missing stamps and philately related stuff to Wikipedia:WikiProject Gibraltar/to do in terms of missing articles. Would be good to have a great coverage of Gibraltar stamps too.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:48, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Perhaps both of the stamps mentioned here would be good candidates. This one Gibraltar 10c missing-value error is already redlinked on the List of postage stamps page and there are lots of details at http://www.britishempirephilately.com/articles/rare-stamps-of-gibraltar-1889-no-value-error. ww2censor (talk) 17:13, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Can' only view the left edge for some reason. Can you link the stamps you think suitable on the page, as I also wouldn't know what titles to use!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:20, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Which site can you only see the left edge? Gibraltar 1889 value missing error and Gibraltar 1925 £5 George V violet & black or one of the images from here (further down the page they call it grey-brown not black - Scott calls it black so that might need some further investigation) would be my naming suggestions. ww2censor (talk) 18:15, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Sandafare site.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:20, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
If you see the three stamps on the left they are the ones, all others are just different versions. I can't see anything strange on their page makeup that would cause you the problem. Try a different browser sometimes helps. ww2censor (talk) 18:23, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Ww2Censor, So you feel the usual practice in books and journal articles is sub-optimal? Acad Ronin (talk) 23:38, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia does not always follow the styles used in books and journals. It appears much more integrated to combine the Notes and Sources because many of the notes are derived from the sources, so integration seems more appropriate. There is nothing sub-optimal about the book and journal practice but by convention that is the way they do it. ww2censor (talk) 02:48, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for informing me of my images copyright status. It does not seem like I can find the info, so may you please delete it? Thank you for being a good Wikipedian.--InformationContributor11 (talk) 19:05, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Heroes Welcome UK

Hi, I just need a little clarification, some time ago Wikipedia suggested that I should try and link the Heroes Welcome Article to other relating and connecting wikipedia articles, and this is something I have been doing as and when an opportunity arises.(you can probably track these?) . Yesterday I added a section to the Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box article (it seemed the most appropriate way of adding the piece) headed inspiring communities. I believed this article to be very relevant bearing in mind the well reported association between the Mariah Mundi series of books and the Heroes Welcome story. I noticed this morning that this new section was removed by one of the originating writers who seem to go under the same name as the film production company. This action seems to go against the wikipedia principle, could you advice me? Many thanks Fwe506 (talk) 08:24, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

The editor who removed your recent edits has been blocked for their conflict of interest. However, the way you introduced Heroes Welcome was too focused on the organisation and its fund raising. I would be more inclined to introduce the facts about the connection to the character being based on John Senior with a very short reference to the organisation and its funding by selling the books. Focus on the direct connection to the topic because details of where and how it is sold are just fluff and not informative, or relative, to that article. Remember less is often more. Perhaps there is other information available that could be added to a section about the characters. BTW, you should only sign the end of your posts and nowhere else, not in the header, as you did above, or in your edit summaries, as I see you have already admonished on your talk page. Hope that helps. Ask again if necessary. ww2censor (talk) 16:12, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
When I re read the article, you are quite right, a bit out of practice on wikiwriting so will do some work off line! I stand admonished on the signing off bit but its all so confusing! many thanks Fwe506 (talk) 16:40, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
No problem, it does take some time to get with it but even after 6+ years I find difficulty with some issues. No offense. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 16:49, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Just for info, I have just re posted a modified addition as suggested and within 2 minutes it was removed by the originator , perhaps best to give up on this one! YoursFwe506 (talk) 17:50, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Discussion on reference (fn. 5) on the EID stamp, in the wiki article Holiday stamp

my bad. questioning the date of 2011, in your cited reference--when i went to the reference i see it is stated so. however, there is a 'copyright' date on the sheet of this Forever stamp that i bought yesterday, and it shows the c-symbol for copyright and 2010 USPS. a trivial matter i suppose. what would be of interest, is what the 2001 calligraphy text actually says, and what the 2011 stamp calligraphed text says. thanks for your help on my concerns. pls feel free to correct me, too. Hispanosuiza (talk) 16:16, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

While the stamp was issued in 2011, it may well have been designed in 2010 which accounts for the © 2010 date. That is an entirely insignificant fact in terms of this article. ww2censor (talk) 16:36, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
I not sure why you added spaces to the post? Perhaps your browser does not display properly. Try a different browser. ww2censor (talk)

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Stamp UN 1951 1c.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Hi I'm am wanting to upload a photo from Google to (sport in the United States) on the section (Australian rules football). The photo I am wanting to upload I found on Google after I typed in USA Revolution the (United States national Australian rules football team) its a photo of someone playing for the national team. I wanting to know it its legal to upload and up loading photo's in this manner is legal, thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dek0001 (talkcontribs) 05:04, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

I thought that my reply to your question at WP:MCQ#Can I up load a photo I found on google. was clear enough. Again no, you cannot use such an image here unless you can positively verify it is freely licenced and most internet found images are not freely licenced. ww2censor (talk) 14:09, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Peter McGarr talk about the COI tag : message from Mamopenshaw

Dear Ww2, I'd like to thank you for the time and effort you put into reading the Peter McGarr page. I've read your very valuable comments and have attempted to act on your advice: I've cleaned the page up and approached the article from a neutral point of view. Would it now be possible for me to get rid of the COI tag? I'd greatly appreciate any help or advice you could give me. Mulready Stationery

Why did you delete my link to Mulready Philatelics please? I have dealt with this person over a few years recently and found him consistently knowledgeable and helpful and his website is a useful resource.

Keithpoole 30/10/12 0900 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Keithpoole (talkcontribs) 08:59, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Keith. That's because the site is a commercial website and therefore fails WP:EL. He may well be a good dealer with good material and information but if there are non-commercial one that exist we should use them. I relinked to the National Archives where essentially the same material is available. Hope that helps. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 17:49, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for your help, while I read your page, could you please check this to know whether or not you can find the copyright holder? Keeiither (talk) 18:26, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

Did you notice the copyright link at the bottom right of the page which links to this page? It clearly affirms copyright for all the material on the site specifically for commercial use and as we do not accept any non-commercial restrictions, so you are out of luck unless you can get an image freely licenced by the copyright holder, or it is old enough to have fallen out of copyright. This is probably not what you wanted to hear but that's the way it is. ww2censor (talk) 04:44, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Walter Bonatti, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Solo climbing (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thank you

Thank you for your work on Walter Bonatti. I have started to edit with too much passion and perhaps my editing speed was faster than my capacity of detecting mistakes. I hope it will be a nice article in the end. --Silvio1973 (talk) 10:14, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

It is not a matter of too much passion just enthusiasm. Please remember that we do not link years. I removed them several times already but you keep adding more. Forget about it and stop!! Also, please remember that you are writing about the past so unless you are quoting, you should be using the past tense. Many more citations are needed throughout and right now there are very few indeed but you really should to try and find English language ones that can be checked by English readers. Also I notice that you have many redlinks. This can be a problems unless you intend to write article about those people, see WP:WTAF. Who will write them? Probaly no one, so they stay red and that is ugly, so unless they are really important people who happen to be missing an article just don't make a redlink. Good luck and I will keep watching and correcting as I have time, but please don't make me correct problems that you now know about and should not be making. Slow down; there is no hurry. Thanks for your work. ww2censor (talk) 23:11, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

requesting help from you

Sir, I tag List of philatelic bureaus Article as stub because there is not much information about it. There is no information about the Post.

If you tell me the reason. It will help me to write other Article. Regards Safwan Rahman.safwan (talk) 14:55, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

A stub is not a list. A list is what it says, it is a list and not intended to be an article as such. In the beginning of the description for stubs it tells you exactly what it is and goes not to give examples and details that are helpful. It also says that a list is not a stub: see Wikipedia:Stub#Basic information. Information about the Post of found at Post. another that might interest you is List of postal entities. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 23:20, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
sir,
also the article doesn't have any source. also,if you want to show the bureau, it is necessary to give their contact information. Postal authority and Philatelic bureau are not same, some country's postal authority doesn't issue stamps. As you mentioned that Postal authority and stamp issuing authority are same but I think they are not same.
I hoped, you will solve my misunderstanding. Regards Safwan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rahman.safwan (talkcontribs) 09:19, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
I answered your question about stubs and suggested some article you could read. Most lists are not actually sourced as it is very difficult to add a source for each and every entry. I never stated any of the things you mention above and most of what you wrote is accurate depending on the country. What exactly is your misunderstanding? BTW, please sign your posts by adding four tildes to the end like this: ~~~~. There is even a link to make it easy just below the Edit box and above the Summary box. ww2censor (talk) 09:28, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Sir, Thanks for your reply. Its my Pleasure. Whether it is hard,i think, have to give the source. How anyone can know that the information is write? You cant say that,no need to give source.source is a very important thing. As i mentioned in my earliar message that, some postal authority dont issues stamp.some postal authority dont have a philatelic bureau. Like Tonga.tonga post dont issue stamps.they appointed another company to issued stamps. So,we can not say that, the stamp issuing authority of Tonga is Tonga Post. I can not go with you in 1 point, that postal authority and stamp issuing authority are not same. By the way,can you please give me your email so that i can get contact with you and improve the article jointly. Regards Safwan Rahman.safwan (talk) 09:55, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for removing the fair-use image from my sandbox

I forgot to remove it after I moved the info box from my sandbox to the main page [1]. Cheers, meshach (talk) 22:02, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

No problem, just some users get upset with others making changes to their pages however this was quite justified without comment. Nice little article but could use more inline citations. ww2censor (talk) 22:14, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Probably best to remove all of my uploaded images

Perhaps it would be best to delete all of the images I have uploaded. A photo taken by me has been deleted already based on the (mistaken) belief that it was "stolen" from another website. In fact, that was a photo I created and allowed my local hospital to use in its literature. This photo was apparently subsequently used by the HSE's website and therefore appeared, at first glance, to be the property of the HSE. Neither I nor my friends wish for our personal details to be displayed on Wikipedia. We take photos and share them with others, therefore our work will often be found in many places. If we cannot display our work without including our personal details, then we consent to having it removed. I can appreciate the need to have verifiable images on Wikipedia and understand your reasons for not wishing to use our work.JD2 (talk) 22:02, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Some of your images, especially the montages are rather good, though others are/were of low web quality. Neither you nor your friends have to share personal details here. You can register without giving them, however all images you upload must be clearly freely licenced and if it is not clear that the images are your, you can easily verify the images with our OTRS Team by following the procedure found at WP:CONSENT. When images have metadata and are not of web resolution, as you could have supplied for the image that was deleted, we might not question the image but it appeared to be an exact pixel for pixel copy and that just looks like you copied it instead of uploading your original image. If the image already deleted was your, then you need to say so clearly from the beginning but changing a claim from, you and your friends, to claiming they are all your, looks mighty suspicious. You just need to explain the situation verifiably to the OTRS volunteers and if they are satisfied then there is no problem. The image, and those under review, could be kept and even restored if they have been deleted. Try it you may be surprised. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 22:57, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
I haven't changed my claim - I maintain in my last post that myself and my friends took the pictures. I accept, however, that this is not good enough for the purposes of ensuring copyright protection on Wikipedia. While my friends and I do not care about who uses our photos, I (and I'm sure they) understand that it is important on this website.
I am not prepared to go to the effort of arranging for us all to register our details here, nor am I prepared to look for where I have stored the original version of the deleted image (I freely admit I copied the version of my image used by the HSE rather than looking for it in my own files). I am somewhat of a novice in these matters and don't really have an interest in becoming more expert. If I knew how to delete my own images from Wikipedia, I would. Instead, I consent to their removal without any hard feelings. JD2 (talk) 23:10, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
As I already stated, there is no need to register any personal details for you, as you have already not done when registering your account, nor do your friends have to give such details. You can upload any files you own the copyright of yourself AND wish to be freely licenced. As for your friends, they don't even have to register. BTW the copyright protection is for the author of the images and not as such for us though we don't don't want to be sued for hosing copyright violations, we do need to know they are genuinely permitted by the author. You can upload your friends images and they can simply email their WP:CONSENT to the OTRS Team for any image they wish to freely licence too. Any discussion or questions is done privately and does not appear on any main site pages and is only available for a few editors with rights to view such communications. It is that simple without ANY need to provide ANY personal details that could be seen by the public on any wikipedia pages. Unfortunately you cannot delete your images but you can allow a deletion nomination to be completed or you can add the template {{db-author}} to any of your uploads to show you want them deleted. Hope that helps and you will reconsider you decision. You may also find it useful to read my image copyright information page. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 09:41, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Removal of WikiProject tags from file talk pages

Hi, I noticed you removed the {{WikiProject Ireland}} templates I added to File talk:Flag of Ireland.svg, File talk:Flag of Ireland (gold).svg, File talk:Green harp flag of Ireland 17th century.svg, and File talk:Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg, your reason being "we don't assess images especially those hosted on the commons". Wikipedia:WikiProject Ireland doesn't mention anything against tagging file talk pages; the fact that Category:File-Class Ireland articles exists suggests the opposite of your claim. Additionally, there is no policy or guideline barring users from tagging file talk pages of files hosted on Commons with WikiProject templates. Unless I'm missing something, the removal of these templates seems like a unilateral decision on your part. — ξxplicit 01:33, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your clear advice to OST. Apologies that my statement re Fair Use at the Talk Page seems to have caused confusion. I had not realised they were from Googlemaps. I have now adjusted my comment there. Btw. I did not realise that dummy sheep and Photoshop were fair game!! Does that mean we can simply airbrush out all the offending lamp-posts and roadsigns from imperfect geograph pictures?! At last, that inflatable sheep I keep under the bed can be put to good use... Martinevans123 (talk) 11:30, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Don't you always wonder about those farmers with inflatable sheep who own wellingtons and the sheep keep reversing towards them? I'm not saying that Photoshop and dummy sheep are the way to go but it could be an option if done professionally. Remember that freely licenced images can be modified so you could remove some offending items, again if done well. If you are not good at that sort of stuff you can make a request at the Graphics Lab/Photography workshop for some image cleanup. Remember that if the image is not of a high enough resolution getting a good result is virtually impossible. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 21:25, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Let's leave my wellies out if this, shall we. But thanks for the advice. I'll look for geograph images that are a little less woolly. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:31, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
No problem. With all the rain where I am the wellies are covered in mud. Unfortunately Geograph image are not very high resolution. Good luck anyway. ww2censor (talk) 21:41, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Just while your there.... any idea where we might find some copyright-free images of this chap? Many thanks for any clues before I start to plough through GoogleImages. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:12, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
Martin, there are a few on the commons here already but pre-1923 US published images are in the public domain and you can do specific searches by licence such as a Google advanced search but that does not bring up anything, so you will have to look elsewhere, like the LOC or a Flickr Creative Commons search (in that case you must be careful to determine if the licence is in fact free). Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 22:30, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
Many thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:36, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Stephen Crowe Photo

Hello there,

Regarding the page for Stephen Crowe (composer) the image was deleted as it had insufficient information. I did add the place the photo was taken, the date of the photograph, the photographer's name and the fact that he did give permission to use the image. I also included his email address, having read somewhere that this could be useful. I might not have inserted all the correct information straight away (which is why I kept trying to re-upload the image), but endeavored to do so on about my third attempt.

Crowe interviewed by Dr Charlotte de Mille at The Courtauld Institute of Art, 2012

Being a novice I might have missed something blindingly obvious, but have read through as much info as I could about the correct way of doing things.

Many thanks, User:Mrs Renard (User talk:Mrs Renard)

While you did give some information, as far as I recall, you failed to provide the most important information which is under what copyright the copyright holder, who is usually the photographer, released the image. And while you say you gave the photographer's email, we don't do the running to get his permission or verify his permission, that onus is on the uploader to provide. Unfortunately it is possible to upload images without actually providing all the necessary information though the process does try to lead you through all the possible scenarios so that you don't miss out necessary information as you did. If you wish you can get the image restored but you will need the copyright holder to verify their permission, depending on what copyright licence they are prepared to release the image under, by following the procedure found at WP:CONSENT making sure to mention the image name. As a novice user you may also find it useful to read my image copyright information page. Ask again if this is not clear to you. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 00:20, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Yes the PROD removal policies suck, but...

I've regrettably had to revert your re-PRODding of Coole National School. Let it be clear that I absolutely hate the fact that we allow users to remove PRODs without explanation, but... we allow users to remove PRODs without explanation. AfD is thataway. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 11:18, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Page deleted. It wasn't my fault :-) I deleted the image at 03:03 on 12 February 2013, and the file talk page was created at 03:11 on 12 February 2013. Nyttend (talk) 14:11, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

I did not notice that fact. Thanks anyway. ww2censor (talk) 15:26, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Joker & The Thief.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Joker & The Thief.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:16, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Tallaght

Regarding the change you made on the Dublin Page to my re-spelling of Tallacht as Tallaght, I apologise for messing up the box i was in. Thanks for letting me know. I am still learning. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcully (talkcontribs) 19:57, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know my edit to the spelling of Tallaght had disrupted the box it was in. I didn't realise I could have seen this by using a preview. I am still learning! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcully (talkcontribs) 20:03, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
You are welcome. We all had to learn at sometime and sometimes the hard way. Good luck and ask any question you need and I will try to help you out. Your editing seems rather intermittent but maybe you can become more regular as we always need good editors. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 18:23, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:EWorld installdisks.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:EWorld installdisks.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:14, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Valid link?

Hi there, this link is valid, yes, but what's it got to do with the Yacht issue? The stamps aren't even mentioned by name on the page. SteveStrummer (talk) 19:23, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

Ah yeah, it looks like your correct on this one. I must admit I assumed the stamps in question were mentioned as the Stamp Atlas is quite comprehensive. Somewhere I have a hard copy and it is rather useful. I'll remove it for you. ww2censor (talk) 20:07, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

For one of the outstanding {{citation needed}} tags, you might want to consider the actual text of

An Act for the Union of Great Britain and Ireland (1800) Article Eighth, Para V et seq.

While using source texts can be tricky, it is certainly better than leaving the statement entirely unsourced. Some rewording of the text may be necessary: It is not clear to my reading the extent to which the Irish peers' lists indicating their votes (for representative peers) were public. It is clear the lists were publicly read, but not clear to me whether or not each voting Irish peer was identified when his list was read out. LeadSongDog come howl! 04:03, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I actually ended up using a citation I had used in the same paragraph but the very same source text as you pointed out was in this book; http://books.google.fr/books?id=TZ4yAQAAMAAJ&pg=PR161 So there is 1 cn tag remaining. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 22:08, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Postmark may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 09:02, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Understood in regard to the Battle of the Atlantic but...

...the subjects I'm referring to are more spread througout the works in question than specific to any few pages. I'll certainly add more details in terms of authors, dates of publication etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shamrockawakening (talkcontribs) 10:25, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Normally, even when using a single reference, one adds a citation to each statement that could be questioned. Another way of doing it is to add the book as a source and refer to each citation simply by the name of the author, (date) and page number, per Postage stamps of Ireland#References and sources; look at the Feldman or Gibbons or other multiple citations. Hope that helps. BTW, please sign your posts by adding four tildes, like this ~~~~ to the end of your posts. ww2censor (talk) 12:34, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Representative peer TFA

Well done on your work to save the bronze star on the oldest FA yet to appear as TFA. The article's "reward" is to appear as Wikipedia:Today's featured article/June 14, 2013. If you can improve the blurb (while sticking to the 1,200 characters of displayed text and spaces limit) please do so. Thanks. BencherliteTalk 23:24, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Yes, well done and congratulations on getting it to the main page, its well deserved. Ceoil (talk) 11:56, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
I think my contributions are overstated but thanks anyway. It's great to avoid any demotion of an FA, so was happy to help as it had some Irish interest to spur me on, even though it took quite so long. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 13:16, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
The guys at FAR seem to be ok about time, in fairness saving FAs is thankless work, and they appear to give a lot of latitude if they see somebody has the intention. I'd give you a barnstar, if I was 12. But good work anyway. Ceoil (talk) 13:21, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Possible "Did you know?"

The article on Postage stamps and postal history of the Cape of Good Hope says: the first post offices around Table Bay (near Cape Town today) were unmanned postal stones, where sailors exchanged bundles of letters on their dangerous early voyages around the Cape. Fconaway (talk) 09:01, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion Floyd, but DYKs must be nominated within 5 days of going into the mainspace, or have been expanded by 5 times, so that will not work. If you do write some new articles that have interesting points, let me know and I will work up something for you. However, nowadays to nominate a DYK you must also review a DYK. ww2censor (talk) 11:52, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
Okay! It's been a while since I have thought of adding a new page. It might be refreshing to do that.Fconaway (talk) 20:16, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ferrer block, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Alfred Lichtenstein (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Comment on Quoting paragraphs from scholarly articles

In one of my articles I am still creating, on a play, isn't quoting entire paragraph fair use? Coz I include quotation marks and also rovide valid references. As otherwise, the whole context goes missing if I have to include only 1 or 2 sentences. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Playdramabuff (talkcontribs) 18:25, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

If one makes extensive quotations it's a copyright violation. One can usually make a synopsis and quote one or two succinct sentences together with a citation. Extensive passages are not necessary and are a problem. I don't want to discourage you but this is an issue. If you want someone with extensive copyright experience to comment or review your proposed article, I suggest Moonriddengirl though she is now on wiki staff so you may not get an immediate response from her. But please stop reuploading the same image again and again; it does no use. You have to fix the problem by editing the information, as I have already told you. You may find it useful to read my image copyright information page. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 19:07, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

WP Philately in the Signpost

The WikiProject Report would like to focus on WikiProject Philately for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. –Mabeenot (talk) 15:02, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

This is just a friendly reminder to post some responses to the interview questions about WikiProject Philately. We have one set of responses already, but we'll need additional voices and experiences to make this Signpost article viable. Thanks! –Mabeenot (talk) 15:08, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

File:Letter to Russia with krokozyabry.jpg

I don't understand your comment at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2013 July 28 about this image — it's used at Mojibake. Nyttend (talk) 03:13, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

At the time I reviewed it, the enwiki image was not in the article and the commons image had been deleted because it had been missing a licence since 2009. The history of the image shows that licencing has been changed a number of times before it was moved to the commons and that would appear to be due to a lack of understanding of the elements of the photo. As explained in my post the {{PD-RU-exempt}} does not (and cannot) apply as there are no official Russian elements in the image. It is entirely incorrect and improper to this image. The the only Russian elements are the Cyrillic characters and they are not copyrightable. The postal label from the French post office is likely in copyright, but may be, as claimed by one post, to be de minimis, however we still need a licence for the image itself and the original uploader 5 years ago claims he does not know where he got the image so cannot help is that regard. Without a proper licence the image is non-free and therefore also replaceable. Your idea of cropping it really an attempt at getting around the problem but as a derivative image it should only have the same licence as the original it was extracted from. I'm still for a delete. Good luck with it. ww2censor (talk) 07:03, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Album cover

Since I generally delete these tags from my talk page, and you added an extra message, I'll reply on your talk page instead. I have the reverted the image change, as it is not the correct cover (see the colour difference; the one I uploaded is correct.) — Status (talk · contribs) 23:08, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

That's fine. there were two of your images and I only realised you were an experienced user so tempered the 2nd post manually. I'm just going through some orphaned images; some have been replaced by other images and as you say may not be correct but you have fixed it, so that's good. Others have been orphaned by bad editing or other reason and I try to fix those. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 23:12, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure what to do. They did it to ...Baby One More Time (album) as well, and reverted my restoration of the original images. On Britney (album) as well. They are uploading covers that are highly saturated and are not of the correct tone that the artwork actually is. — Status (talk · contribs) 00:38, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

They have expressed interest in discussing the matter. — Status (talk · contribs) 00:56, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Guy Bullock

Hi We chatted earlier this year about Guy Bullock. I wondered if you are going to develop your sandbox article further or not. If not, do you have any objection to me starting an article and you may want to add to it later? Fivebills (talk) 22:07, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for reminding me. I've got lots going on in real life but give me a few days and I will see if I can finish my work on it and put it into mainspace, then you can add to it there or, as I think I told you, you are welcome to edit the sandbox I started. ww2censor (talk) 10:20, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
That's great. I shall have a go on your sandbox, when I can, or wait till you put it up. Fivebills (talk) 10:37, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
