@Thewolfchild Thank you very much for your consideration. Wingedhussar1503 (talk) 01:47, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to let you know that the m5,et al variations were used on additional firearms. The High Standard trench shotgun used it as did the Winchester 1200 commercial trench gun.
The military Winchester 1200 used the m1917 bayonet.
very odd but I have both guns and can furnish photo evidence to support this. 107.115.203.123 (talk) 19:01, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's interesting, I didn't know that. Wingedhussar1503 (talk) 00:51, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the page Advanced Gun System has an edit summary that appears to be inadequate, inaccurate, or inappropriate. The summaries are helpful to people browsing an article's history, so it is important that you use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did. Feel free to use the sandbox to make test edits.
Note: this applies to your edits at Zumwalt-class destroyer as well.
- wolf 01:46, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Zumwalt-class destroyer. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. - wolf 02:03, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Removing useful templates is not at all helpful and doing so under the guise of "fixing grammar" is disingenuous. If you have an issue with the template, feel free to bring it up on the talk page. Thank you - wolf 02:04, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Thewolfchild Okay, thanks for the heads up. Wingedhussar1503 (talk) 02:32, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar

[edit]

Hi, we appreciate your willingness to contribute to Wikipedia. However, some of your grammar changes are either not improvements, or are incorrect grammar. Please be more careful. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 00:08, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@BilCat thanks for letting me know. Wingedhussar1503 (talk) 08:01, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Lockheed AC-130, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Provide a clear and valid reason for your removals/changes in the edit summary field. -Fnlayson (talk) 18:11, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain your contributions using a descriptive edit summary. Changing information on Wikipedia (such as numbers and dates) without explanation, as you did at M1 Garand, may be confused with vandalism. Thank you. Loafiewa (talk) 22:12, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Revolver, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Semi-automatic. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:08, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Wingedhussar1503! Your additions to Street light have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:06, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know, I'll keep this in mind for any uploaded future content. Wingedhussar1503 (talk) 01:09, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rebated rim on firearms cartridges

[edit]

Rebated cartridges have a rim (R1) that is significantly smaller in diameter than the base of the case (P1). The 0.02 mm difference for the HK 4.6×30mm is not a significant difference.--Francis Flinch (talk) 10:18, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that rebated cartridges have a rim that is significantly smaller in diameter than the base of the case. You can change HK 4.6×30mm rim diameter back to what it originally was if you would like to, I don't have any problems with it. Wingedhussar1503 (talk) 20:19, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Donald Albury. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Bullwhip, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Donald Albury 11:40, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but yet again you're making a bunch of changes here and they range from trivial formatting to content changes, but nothing is ever sourced and much of it is just plain wrong. Checking each of these line by line is tiresome for more careful editors and so the temptation is to just roll the whole lot back. Andy Dingley (talk) 10:42, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, I'll try to be more careful. Wingedhussar1503 (talk) 17:54, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Sword, you may be blocked from editing. You're still making significantly wrong changes to terminology and doing nothing to even try to support these with sourcing. Your contributions are a nett negative to the project and a time sink for those who have to clean up after you. The solution to this is for you to either understand the subject rather better before changing it, to back up your changes with robust sources (I don't just mean "Google for the same phrase and paste in any old link that agrees"), or else to seek a block on your editing altogether, just to save effort for more productive editors.

You've had plenty of prior warning about this. Andy Dingley (talk) 09:23, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be more careful with adding sources and editing in the future. Wingedhussar1503 (talk) 09:30, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not alter quoted text which is shown within quote marks. Thanks. PamD 05:31, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I now find that MOS:NUM suggests a way round the problem: add the conversions in square brackets after the figures in the quote, without changing the wording of the quote. The square brackets show that it's not part of the original quote. I might fix it later, but not now while editing on phone. PamD 05:48, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Between... to..."

[edit]

Hi, I have noted how in articles like Line infantry and Guandao you revised the use of "between... and..." to "between... to..." However, I would like to point out that many writing guides recommend using either "between... and..." or "from... to..." and not "between... to..." or "from... and..." (see https://www.e-education.psu.edu/styleforstudents/c3_p16.html and https://www.enago.com/academy/between-vs-from/). Kind regards. WikiEditor50 (talk) 17:57, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gauge (firearms)

[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauge_(firearms)

Dear Wingedhussar1503

I like to change the chapter Gauge Calculation and would write it as

Size of a Gauge https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Gauge_(firearms)

I have seen that you are one of the most involved Author of this Article and so I like to know your opinion.

Unfortunately the calculation of a Gauge as it is shown in the Article was never done in practice.

In my education I got also told that the definition of the Gauge is maid by this Ball of Lead but unfortunately this is wrong so the calculation is also not deeded Can you check my Size of a Gauge chapter if you are OK with it ?

Best Regards

Eliot Eliot128 (talk) 20:32, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Eliot128 Hello, I don't see any problems with you changing the title and contents of the chapter to the "Size of a Gauge." I'll be looking forward to seeing what you have to add. Take care and have a happy holiday! Wingedhussar1503 (talk) 10:22, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
