Speedy deletion nomination of Runcie C. W. Chidebe
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Runcie C. W. Chidebe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I really don't like this idea of always deleting articles. What are we here for..to delete or improve? I request you to edit this article...and improve the content. Moreover, the person, Runcie Chidebe is notable.
Wikinaija (talk) 23:26, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
- You'll note that I removed the CSD tag over a year and a half ago... after credible claims of significance were added. Not sure why you are bringing this up now. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 00:00, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
I apologize for this.

Theroadislong this is a page that needs improvement not deletion. Why do you keep marking my articles for deletion? Have you ever tried to edit the page? Have tried to improve the articles. I think you need to be aware that we are volunteering to make Wikipedia a better platform by contributing to articles. Kindly contribute to this article

December 2016
[edit]Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Runcie C. W. Chidebe. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:
|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]
Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg
.
There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption
. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Wikinaija, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:32, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
ArbCom 2017 election voter message
[edit]Hello, Wikinaija. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
How far nah?! Where your summary?
[edit]Merely kidding there.
It is considered good practice to provide a summary for every edit, especially when reverting (undoing) the actions of other editors or deleting existing text; otherwise, people may question your motives for the edit.
Wikipedia is a team work and we need each other. We value your contributions. It's good you leave a summary so we can all know what you are contributing.
Accurate summaries help other contributors decide whether it is worthwhile for them to review an edit, and to understand the change should they choose to review it. When a major edit (e.g. deletion of a substantial amount of text, a significant addition, or a substantial rewrite) doesn't have an edit summary, there are fewer reasons you get many of the editors confused. Summaries are less important for minor changes (which means generally unchallengeable changes such as spelling or grammar corrections), but a brief note like "fixed spelling" is helpful even then.
To avoid accidentally leaving edit summaries blank, you can select "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" on the Editing tab of your user preferences
See Help:Edit_summary for more.
You are doing a great job.

Speedy deletion nomination of Olu Akanmu
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Olu Akanmu, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Mccapra (talk) 07:59, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
- Dear @Mccapra, Please all statement was an unbiased and nonpromotional description of a subject with verifiable sources as seen in the references. The article also highlighted controversy of the subject. The controversy also looked at the issue surrounding the subject's exit from a firm. In the spirit of Wikipedia Editing and as a member of the Wikipedia Community, Abuja, it is more ideal to allow other editors to improve the page. Remember, we are in Wikipedia to work together to create and improve content. I invite more editors to also improve the article. Though I do not know or have relationship with the subject, and I have also written this article to highlight the work and the controversy of the subject, I will rephrase some sentences you think sound promotional.
- Please @Mccapra, I have seen you request improvement on pages created by Wikipedia editors, which shows that you care much about improving contents. But I am wondering why you want to delete this page, without first requesting for improvement. Have you tried checking the sources to see if the subject is not notable?
- Please note that from this Wikipedia - Wikipedia articles are written and maintained by a community of volunteers, collectively known as Wikipedians, through open collaboration. I believe you understand the place of Open Collaboration in Wikipedia articles, especially for notable subjects that has numerous and credible sources.
- I don't create promotional articles because this platform is not a place to promote or advertise people or companies
- Thank you so much for your understanding. Wikinaija (talk) 11:16, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
Olu Akanmu moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Olu Akanmu. Unfortunately, it is not ready for publishing because it needs more sources to establish notability and it is promotional and reads like an advertisement. Your article is now a draft where you can improve it undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Reading Beans (talk) 20:20, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
- Dear @Reading Beans
- First I commend you for the work you do in enhancing Wikipedia articles.
- I hope you know I am not new to Wikipedia editing and Article Creation can be work in progress and any member of Wikipedia community can improve such article. Moving this to draft belittles my work and experience in Wikipedia.
- Please restore the page as I have finished updating the article with all relevant reliable sources.
- Thank you so much for your understanding
- Together, we will keep adding content and improving existing ones in Wikipedia Wikinaija (talk) 19:57, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Wikinaija, I know you are not new to Wikipedia and that is why I expected you to know that it read like an advertisement. I also expected you to know that interviews and press releases are primary sources and they do not confer notability because they are not independent from the subject. Also, have you read the manual on headings as an old user? Please do. With that being said, do you still still it is notable and should be moved to mainspace? Best, Reading Beans (talk) 05:08, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you @Reading Beans
- All the sources referenced on the articles are secondary sources.(non of them is a primary source)
- Please, the subject is notable with multiple reliable secondary sources referenced on the articles, hence, it should be moved to mainspace.
- Also, if you feel that there are some statements or words that needs replacement or rephrasing, please feel free to make changes. Wikinaija (talk) 11:17, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

- @Reading Beans
- mmmmm.....you need to be calming down ohhhh. You are taking this thing to a different level, even though you it is a fact that the subject is notable with multiple sources. Take easy abeg.
- Regarding the Press Release you mentioned, I do respect your point of view and I expect you to do same because I am not off from the Wikipedia guidelines.
- Press Releases can be used to verify some facts in Wikipedia.
- According to Wikipedia Referencing and Notability,
- * Non-independent sources (like company websites or press releases) can be used to verify basic facts only.
- Blogs, social media, and tabloid journalism are generally not acceptable.
- Also, note that it is not the subject on this article that wrote the information about himself on all the sources and press releases as you call them.
- Some of the sources you flagged were used to verify basic facts of the subject. I can agree with you that Bella naija is a blog and this can be removed. But others are reliable websites and news platforms which are known for publishing news about technology, digital economy and fintech.
- For your understanding, please see below about the sources you flagged as unreliable.
- 1. Tekedia.com (This is platform for publication of financial, investment, and fintech news. Also, an institute. If you are familiar with fintech ecosystem, you will be familiar with this platform.
- 2. Siit.co (this is website for Scholars International Institute of Technology, which offer diploma program on technology related studies)
- 3. ITNewsAfrica.com (This is an African Technology Advisory (Pty) Ltd. publication. They provide insight into enterprise IT trends, innovation and technology in Africa)
- 4. FCMB.com (This is a website of First City Monument Bank) which I used to verify a basic fact)
- 5. brandcrunch.com.ng (This a platform that reports and analyzes brands & marketing, marketing communications’ activities)
- 6. technext24.com (this is a news platform dedicated to reporting news on digital economy, technology, etc)
- 7. guardian.ng, dailypost.ng, premiumtimesng.com (These are news platform. Any press released published on this platform is also news)
- 8. fintechmagazine.com (This is a platform for news on Fintech across Africa)
- 9. theeagleonline.com.ng (This is a Nigerian news platform. It is not a blog)
- If you insist that these platforms are not reliable, then show me list of all reliable sources that Wikipedia accepts.
- If you also say majority of the references are press releases and not accepted, please show me list of acceptable press release that are used to verify basic facts. Wikinaija (talk) 15:39, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Wikinaija, lol. I tried my best not to sound mean (because I'm not. Lol.) Anyways, I'll leave the draft for a different eye to assess, my people would say, jisike. I am just concerned on the sources and I have no further comments to make. Godspeed! Best, Reading Beans (talk) 18:52, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

- Hahahaha.... ndewo.... Wikinaija (talk) 19:26, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Reading Beans
- I hope you know I have provided all necessary proof and explanation.
- I have also shown that the sources are reliable, considering they focus on news about technology, fintech, etc Wikinaija (talk) 19:40, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Reading Beans
- Have been patiently waiting for the final review. I see that some editors have made few changes which is very commendable.
- Please, it is time to move the article to the mainspace Wikinaija (talk) 00:18, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Wikinaija, the Scholars Institute you mentioned, is this what they offer here? Nah. I haven’t found reliable sources for your guy yet. PS: If someone accepts it, chances are, someone will definitely nominate it for deletion. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 05:43, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Reading Beans Lol. you are very funny.
- I am surprised you are calling the person My Guy Something is wrong somewhere.
- Are you saying that siit.co (an educational website) is an unreliable source. You are indirectly saying that Websites of educational institutions are unreliable source in Wikipedia. Did you see the courses the offer (including certificates and diplomas courses).
- It sounds very strange to me why 80% of the sources I listed are unreliable.
- I don de tire for this back-and-forth ohhhh.... I responded to all the concerns you have.
- Please, let's restore the content to mainspace.
- Thank you @Reading Beans Wikinaija (talk) 12:36, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

- The Sources in 18 - 25 were used for the following:
- 1. Prove that he was the Co-CEO of Opay
- 2. Verify that he resigned/exited the company (Opay)
- 3. Show that his resignation was a bit controversial, especially among those in Fintech ecosystem. Some feel that he has issue with the top stakeholders in the company.
- 4. Show that many sources carried the news, because the subject is a notable figure who has contributed to Fintech community in Nigeria Wikinaija (talk) 15:54, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, what I meant was write about it in the draft, i.e., recount the sources and depict what they have to say in the draft. It's nice for a reviewer to get a better understanding, but it doesn't necessarily help the draft. Best regards, --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 10:00, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
