[edit]Just thought you ought to know a few things. If you ever would like to talk to me, post it on my talk page, not my userpage. I am deleting that comment off my userpage, as it belongs on my talk page, but feel free to add it on my talk page. I found you because I go through recent changes, and if people have no talk page, I welcome them. P.S. If you are looking for a place to start, recent changes is a good one. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:BottomDrawer.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:BottomDrawer.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:09, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from File:TowerCamDowntown.JPG, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Please refer to Wikipedia:File copyright tags for information on examples of copyright tags that can be added to the file's page and will meet the concerns in the speedy deletion tag. Pictures
[edit]Hi Wiki Zachary. All the messages above stem from the fact that your images do not have sourcing or licensing info on the page. Sourcing is easy, you state elsewhere that they are your own work. The licensing is a bit more complicated. You say on the picture pages "no license". What do you mean by that? Do you mean that you do not allow others to use and re-use them for any purpose? Because that's what "license" means here. Or are you perhaps mixing "copyright" and "license", and thus are saying that you don't claim copyright on them, or release them into Public Domain? Please let me know what all you mean exactly about the status of those photos, and all the tagging can stop. You can reply here, and I'll see it. Thanks, Crow Caw 21:32, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
Also, you should probably not add a picture of your home address (if that is what that is) to one of the world's largest web sites. It could attract unwelcome attention. Crow Caw 21:34, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- Reply Hi and thanks for replying. Important though: Every file on WP requires a license. Wikipedia is "free to use" by anyone anywhere, and that includes pictures. In order to be here, the copyright holder must license them under a free license, which allows anyone anywhere to use or re-use, modify, sell, joke about, spoof, or anything they want to do with them. Pictures that don't have such a license must be deleted, as they violate the Terms of Service. You can see it below every edit window, just below the Save Button: "By clicking the "Save page" button, you agree to the Terms of Use and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL with the understanding that a hyperlink or URL is sufficient for CC BY-SA 3.0 attribution."
- So if you agree to those, you need to add the license to the pictures' pages. If not, they have to be removed. It's a legal consideration that we have very little leeway in enforcing. Crow Caw 22:00, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

Welcome!
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, Wiki Zachary, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I also see that some of your recent edits show an interest in the use of images and/or photos on Wikipedia.
Did you know that ...
- ...Wikipedia has a very stringent image use policy?
- ...most images from Flickr, online news websites, and other web sources are copyrighted?
- ...Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously?
- ...freely-licensed images should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, a central location for images where they can be used on all Wikipedia projects?
- ...we recommend that new users use our "files for upload" process - at least until you get the hang of things?
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{Help me}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I know. I am being harassed on my talk page. To explain myself... My Envelope and Cookie Uploads were self-created and does not require a license in my mind. For the Tower Cam Of Cheyenne upload, I found that image from a live stream on http://www.cheyenne.org/webcams/ and their license is the default license: "The image may not be plagerized, or stripped of its license. It also may not be altered." Wiki Zachary (talk) 22:00, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- I know that someone else already sent you a standard welcome message, but seeing your interest in uploading images, I felt the above version of the welcome message might have some links that you would be interested in. You are correct that if you take a picture, you may use it anyplace. But when you post it to Wikipedia, it is Wikipedia itself that needs a license. That's a license from you to Wikipedia, giving the organization the right to use the image. (Imagine if they didn't do this, and someone posted a copyrighted image, and the owner of the image filed a lawsuit against Wikipedia, claiming a copyright violation. By going through the license process for each and every image, Wikipedia can say, "This user posted the image and stated that he or she took that picture himself, and gave Wikipedia permission to use it." By doing this, they remain compliant with the law.)
- BTW, I've looked at the Cheyenne.org site, and you need to take the "s" off of "webcams" it is "webcam" in the singular form. (Click it yourself to see.) Now, can you provide a specific link where there is permission given to reuse images from the webcam in question? The only copyright I found was in the "privacy policy" portion of the site, and that copyright puts the entire site under copyright protection, which would not normally allow an image from the webcam to be used elsewhere, but if there is a more specific policy for the webcam, that would override the general copyright notice.
- As a side note, I think it is important that you understand that Wikipedia is, first and foremost, an encyclopedia. It's not facebook, photobucket, a personal blog, or any number of other social media sites, and it is not intended to be used the way those sites are used. You can read more about this by clicking this link. Meanwhile, I look forward to seeing encyclopedic contributions from you in the near future. Etamni | ✉ | ✓ 22:12, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- For clarity, when you license an image to Wikipedia, you are also licensing it to the rest of the world. See Creative Commons license for more about how this works. Etamni | ✉ | ✓ 22:34, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

A few things...
[edit]Hey, Wiki Zachary. I've deleted two of the images you uploaded, and want to explain why. First of all, even if you took them , the images do need to be released under a license; more specifically, a license that's at least as permissive as the CC-BY-SA license that Wikipedia uses for all its content. This goes for almost all images, whether they were uploaded by the person that took them or not. The idea behind this is that anyone who wants to reuse the content of Wikipedia (within the restrictions of this CC-BY-SA license) needs to be sure that all the different pieces of content are available to be reused that way. If we have some images that aren't released under the same license that the rest of Wikipedia is, then they might not be able to just reuse Wikipedia entirely; they'd have to pick and choose what's available to them based on the content that's correctly licensed, and that would quickly become a nightmare. The only exceptions to these rules on licensing are images that apply the rules on non-free use, but our rules on what images those apply to are *very* restricted, and they just wouldn't apply to your images.
However, that's not why I deleted the two images. Those two images had a real-world address on them (yours, probably), which means that they're a potential breach of privacy. Even if it's your own, releasing your personal information like that is not a good idea, which is why I decided to delete them without delay. Please don't upload those images again; I know you didn't mean any harm in it, and we won't hold it against you, but privacy is something we have to take very seriously, so we have to do things that seem harsh sometimes. I'm sorry for this rough introduction to Wikipedia editing, but this is how it has to be, I'm afraid. Just try to keep these things in mind. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 22:11, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
Reply: I see your point and it is my address is on it, amd the Bionic thing is #fake, but it is not like the US Government will pay me with respects to my envelope, so I can't license it. It is used on my homepage. My homepage rules forbid deletion of my objects, plus you are ruining something that would be fun.
Wiki Zachary (talk) 22:48, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- I have deleted another image for the same reason, and I've also deleted the webcam image since its license, which does not allow modification of the image, is too restrictive for it to be considered "free" on Wikipedia. At the same time, that image does not meet the criteria for non-free content; thus we cannot use it on Wikipedia. Huon (talk) 22:50, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- I've re-deleted the images, and salted them against recreation. Please do not upload them again, or I will be forced to block you from editing altogether. You cannot upload the files under the terms you stated, and the privacy issue is still real. I'm sorry, but Wikipedia is not a toy; this is not the place for such things. About Copyrights
[edit]Hi Again! I saw your message on Steel's page where you mentioned that it is hard to tell about copyright on the internet. This is exactly true, and it is also why we can't use any pic from other web pages unless they specifically state that they are free to use. Because of all the license stuff above, we err on the side of caution and assume that everything is copyrighted unless it specifically says it is free. Unfortunately that also means pics like the Cheyenne skyline have to be removed. That one is actually not in question... if you read here, they say right there that their images may not be used elsewhere without permission, which is not compatible with our license.
Sorry to have to bring that up, but like I said, this is one area where we have to be strict. Crow Caw 22:30, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
Sometimes, it can be overwhelming
[edit]Hey Zacho,
I know that when you go to a new place on the internet, learning how things are done can sometimes be overwhelming. There are a few minor things I want to mention so that you will be more familiar with the way things work, and so you won't irritate other more established users here. These aren't in any particular order, but they are somewhat important for you to understand.
1) The designated "talk" page is the proper place to put comments or notes to another user. It's also the designated place for other users to talk to you. When users other than yourself attempt to edit your "user page" they get a message telling them that they probably shouldn't be editing that page (although the system doesn't prevent it, since there are sometimes valid reasons for doing so).
2) The normal way to post a reply to someone else's comment is to use the colon ":" in front of your comment; this will automatically indent it. If you are replying to something with a colon in front of it, use two of them instead. This number can be increased as needed for additional comments (see examples, below). It is also important that you reply after their entire comment, even if they used multiple paragraphs. Otherwise, it can get pretty confusing to someone who reads it later, and who is trying to figure out who said what.
- Example of what an indented reply might look like.
- Example of what a reply to the indented reply might look like.
- And so on.
- Sometimes, replies can be indented pretty far.
- And so on.
- Example of what a reply to the indented reply might look like.
So we have the "outdent" to fix that.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Etamni | ✉ | ✓ 23:10, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Etamni: Reply: Yes, it is definitley overwhelming! Thank you. I'll figure out wikipedia soon. But, even though I know everyone uses the talk page, but I think that using the special commenting section is more direct amd easier. Plus it is on my homepage so you can see fun things at the FUN FACT section and the other comments and then reply to that. I love that you used my fun nickname! Wiki Zachary (talk) 23:22, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- That's exactly what a user's "talk page" is: a special commenting section. It's also a place for automated notices, concerns, certain subscriptions, discussions (like this one), etc. People who visit your pages will be quite reluctant to comment on your user page, if only because doing so is against custom. And clicking over to the talk page is easy, given that there is a link at the top-left of the page for doing so. Etamni | ✉ | ✓ 23:56, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Etamni: Reply: Interesting. I guess I'll keep the talk page, but I'll have to talk to my wikibot to stop the process Wiki Zachary (talk) 00:02, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Images again
[edit]You really do need to stop adding futile warnings like you did here. They will just be ignored and draw more attention to your dubious uploads. --NeilN talk to me 00:40, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
- At a minimum, Zacho, you should have edited the image of the envelope to block out the addresses. Posting real people's addresses, even your own (past or present or future) is very specifically and explicitly against the rules. You cannot even begin to imagine the problems that can occur if those are left out for everyone in the world to find.
- I see that you were blocked a few minutes ago. My suggestion at this point would be to read through the rules, make sure you understand them, and then request that your account be unblocked. Take a few days to be sure you thoroughly understand the reasons for the block, and commit to not making those mistakes again. Good luck. Etamni | ✉ | ✓ 00:49, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
Wiki Zachary Block
[edit]- I'm sorry that it came to this, but it did. Wikipedia is not a place to play around and do whatever you want, and it's not a place to host any images you want. It's an encyclopedia, and we can't afford to continuously monitor uploads for privacy issues. We have to protect both ourselves and you. "Indefinite" does not *have* to be "infinite,", but whether it does or not largely depends on you. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 00:44, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
I have just got started, so I first built a user page. I would be glad to help the encyclopedia out with new articles or updated ones, but firat I haveto fend you off and come up with a good idea and a reason to write or edit an article. I mostly try to accept suggestions from other Wiki Users. So please stop. Wiki Zachary (talk) 01:49, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

- @Writ Keeper: I've tried, but you have to talk, not delete and block. But I will advance in wikipedia, so you guys can be happy. Wiki Zachary (talk) 02:18, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
- No, I *do* have to delete and, when necessary, block--not that that stopped me from trying to talk to you at the same time. You wouldn't listen to us about the image uploads; leaving them undeleted was absolutely *not* an option, for the reasons I've explained to you multiple times now, and we can't watch your contribs constantly. So, I had to block you, beause that's the one way I know you won't upload anything else. So, like I say, the rest is up to you: are you going to stop and listen to us, or are you going to stay blocked? Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 02:37, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:TowerCamDowntown.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TowerCamDowntown.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 01:00, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Based on your latest posts, it's clear you have no idea why you were blocked and either lack the competence to edit your talk page properly or are treating Wikipedia as some kind of social media/MMORPG platform. I have therefore revoked your access to your talk page. Should you wish, you can appeal your block using WP:UTRS. --NeilN talk to me 15:31, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:TowerCamDowntown.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:TowerCamDowntown.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:31, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
