About ABU Radio Song Festival 2012

Hello, I inserted a page, ABU Radio Song Festival 2012, but you reverted. I went to that the concert and saw who won it. Certainty, the winner was Bily Acoustie from South Korea. Danielle just received 'GOLD AWARD' which was gave for second place, NOT FOR A WINNER!

Firstly, please be civil when posting comments on editor's talk pages, using upper case letters like you did constitutes shouting and is most impolite way to conduct behaviour, especially if you aim to receive cooperation from a fellow Wikipedian.

Secondly, even though you attended the festival physically and witnessed who won, doesn't mean that alone qualifies for your content to be included, as that would be in serious violation of no original research. Everything that you find on any Wikipedia article is contributed based on information that is easily obtained via reliable sources which are published so that the content can be verified independently. The reason I removed your input was because you didn't provide a citation (reliable source) to verify your input, and thus made the inclusion original research. Thankfully, the ABU did publish the correct results an hour or so after you made the alteration, which meant that A) we now had a citation from a reliable source, that could B) verify what the article shown, and thus C) avoided original research. Language of the Belarusian JESC 2012 entry

Hello Wesley! I have edited the JESC 2012 article to change the language of the Belarus entry lyrics to Russian as its current state is erroneous. You can see official lyrics in the Cyrillic script on the Official JESC 2012 lyrics page. The easiest way to distinguish three Eastern Slavic language is to find the I-sounds (Russian uses only И and Ы, Ukrainian uses И, І and Ї, while Belarusian alphabet limits I-sounds to І and Ы). You can see that the lyrics contain И and Ы - a set that can only be found in the Russian language. I haven't found any official sources that the song is composed in the Belarusian language. Also, I 'm a native Russian speaker and I can tell Russian from Belarusian. Take care! Maxim. --Mukaltin (talk) 15:40, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

There were 3 or 4 sources that I remember seeing that stated the language was in Belarusian and not Russian, but I can't for the life of me remember off hand, as I have since been involved in a hit and run accident where a car purposely knocked me down on a busy road, and has caused some memory issues. Looking at another source though [ESCKaz they have listed the song as Russian, so I suppose that should be enough to cite and verify the language until we know more at a later date. I get very protective over the templates, as I remember just how much tension they create when people just start altering them willy-nilly without 1) stating in the edit summary first time around and/or 2) notifying the project talk page. But the reference that is present is citing the award won, and not citing anything about person. If you view the source it doesn't even clarify what it is citing. Nor does the source even verify the artist's date of birth or anything. In fact the details on the source don't verify anything that is on the article. 11:38, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

How bizarre that is then, because the guidance on sources state a source needs to verify what it is citing. Yet the source on that particular article is citing the awards section, yet upon reading the source it doesn't verify what its citing. That confused me. I've noticed you are more of a lover than a prodder :) Of course I do have a wife, so I don't exactly remember what love is. :)

It is very bizarre and I don't understand it. The reliable source issue came up again recently and again last year. Some editors are vehemently opposed. The last discussion is here. If it makes you feel any better, in the past month, two admins and one bureaucrat didn't know about it either.

I noticed that you also removed the ProjectEurovision banner from that article's talk page when you don't have the right to do that. Per guidance at WP:PROJGUIDE#OWN (which was pointed out to me weeks ago by the Project Council team, it is upto members of that project to decide if an article is of interest to the project or not. Jae Ang participated in the ABU Song Festivals this month. Those festivals fall under the scope of ProjectEurovision, and therefore any articles relating to participants/songs also fall within the scope of the project. I have restored the banner. I must disagree on that one, because the team at Project Council advised me that anyone can add a banner, but it is ultimately the decision of the project to whom the banner is for, whether they decide to keep it there or remove it. And that is also verified at WP:PROJGUIDE#OWN. I think if anyone would know the guidance on that, would be the people at Project Council. And it wasn't really a Korean Song Festival, but a festival for the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. As there is no Project Asiavision yet, and the festival concepts are similar to that of Eurovision, then it made sense to include them into the scope of ProjectEurovision. Even though one would assume that because the Project's name is Eurovision that they would deal only with Eurovision Song Contest, but that isn't the case, as the project deal with Eurovision Network (which includes contests/festivals of a similar concept too). I agree with you to a point. I would add as long as it follows the project's guidelines. I've had members of a project add their tags to BLPs. Problem being is that WP Film, WP Sports and WP Universities don't include people. I recently had a member of WP Germany saying I was tagging wrong, problem being is I was tagging what the guidelines said to do.

I would rephrase it saying a project's member can add/remove tags as long as they are following the project's guidelines. WP Eurovision decided ABU was part of the project, so I was wrong in removing it and you were right in re-adding it... didn't matter if you were/weren't a member.

The highpoint of Eurovision has to be Lordi. That was entertainment. The lowpoint was the Russians last year. I'm still trying to forget those grannies. Bgwhite (talk) 05:43, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Ahh someone who agrees with Lordi and disagrees with the Grannies. I share the same feelings with you on that. Helena Paparizou was just as hot too. While I was doing volunteering at London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic games, I actually came across a group of grannies who were a spitting image of the Russians, and I almost collapsed in shock, but then realised they were not the real Russian Grannies. Just wanted to drop by and give a friendly hello, and say that I am semi-active on the site right now as I have a problem with my computer which will hopefully be fixed within the next week or so. I find it annoying and I can only do edits a few times a week right now. But on the other hand it has been quite good and relaxing to be on a semi-break from Wikipedia. I think this is the way the article should be like, it's way more organised and crear. Paris Hilton has said several times that she mainly sees herself as a businesswoman and she sometimes accepts offers to act, sing and model because they "push her brand". The structure i just created reflects the way Hilton works - it gives priority to the business part while the acting, music and modeling career are put as aditional works. Hope you agree.
