Warren C. Trenchard moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Warren C. Trenchard, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 04:46, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lee Hyung-geun requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Thank you for uploading File:General Lee - 4 star.JPG. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Jonteemil (talk) 22:13, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Johnsson-share.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Johnsson-share.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 05:30, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the duplication. My system did not seem to send it the first time. Anyway, I have removed all the Wikipedia (Korean) references and footnotes and resubmitted it. This piece is very well documented -- much more than the Wikipedia (En) articles about Lee's two, 4-star general colleagues, Paik Sun-yup and Chung Il-kwon. Wctrenchard (talk) 22:26, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Rather than using Korean Wikipedia directly as a reference you can use the references you find there to support the text. This approach means that if there is any misinterpretation or bias in the Korean page it doesn't flow through to English Wikipedia as we are always going back to the source. Gusfriend (talk) 00:11, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What is wrong with my simply not using any using any Korean Wikipedia references or citations? I don't really need them. Wctrenchard (talk) 00:24, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for offering to help with formatting. The piece was first rejected by Curbon7 a few days ago. From the comments I determined that the problem was with my citing KO Wikipedia. I removed all such citations and resubmitted it, noting, "This piece is very well documented -- much more than the Wikipedia (En) articles about Lee's two, 4-star general colleagues, Paik Sun-yup and Chung Il-kwon." If required, I can remove the Daum and Namu citations. I was told to look at "Referencing for Beginners" and noted this requirement for citation: "All quotations, any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged, and contentious material (whether negative, positive, or neutral) about living persons must include an inline citation to a source that directly supports the material." I comply with these criteria, even if I remove the citations you identified. Please confirm approval if I remove these. I don't want to be on an endless treadmill of review by multiple editors. Thank you. Wctrenchard (talk) 18:58, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me with... I have serious problems with the article Inspiration of Ellen G. White. I would like to share my reasons with someone and talk about how to get the article deleted. Thank you. Wctrenchard (talk) 01:26, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The first place to do raise this question is probably on the article's talk page Talk:Inspiration of Ellen G. White where you may find some past discussions that address your concerns about the page. While the lead of the article couches the content under the conditional "Most Seventh-day Adventists believe ..." that may be insufficient shielding for parts of the content that others have called apologetic or lacking in NPOV. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 04:47, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Eliminate articles on biblical chapters and verses

[edit]

I have been reading and editing several articles on parts of the Bible and issues relating to biblical topics. To my utter amazement and frustration I have discovered that not only does Wikipedia appropriately have articles on the books of the Bible and on major issues in biblical studies but also has separate articles on chapters of these books and on individual verses! To say this is complete nonsense and utterly unnecessary is a gross understatement. Wikipedia has no business engaging in this level of granularity. It doesn't even make any sense from an exegesis or interpretation perspective and can actually distort the situation.

Wikipedia has appropriate articles on the National Football League and its individual teams, e.g., the Chicago Bears. However, it does not have articles on the Bears' specific seasons, their individual games, and certainly not on the individual plays during games. Accordingly, Wikipedia should eliminate all articles on chapters and individual verses of biblical books. Wctrenchard (talk) 22:27, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Eric Rajah. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. signed, Rosguill talk 17:51, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You have claimed File:Eric Rajah c.1998.jpg as your own work. Can you please explain how you came to possess the rights to this image? signed, Rosguill talk 17:51, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(1) This is completely unjustified. Not only has the article been in Mainspace for several months, but it recently received a "C" class rating! There is no COI, and you have not identified any. (2) I was the photographer, took the photo on my own camera, and cropped it myself. Had you looked at Wikimedia Commons: Images, you would have seen there that I claimed it as my own work. Accordingly, please immediately restore this article to Mainspace.Wctrenchard (talk) 22:21, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Having received a C rating by someone who placed a project template is irrelevant. Can you please explain how you came to take a close-range photograph of the subject despite your purported lack of conflict of interest? signed, Rosguill talk 20:09, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is not a COI to have taken a photo of a subject. I uploaded it to Wikidata Commons. I own the rights to the photo. As for the C-class, I had received notice that the article was reviewed and given that rating. There was no reason to move the article back to Draft. Wctrenchard (talk) 20:14, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The photo itself is not a COI, but it is highly suggestive of an external relationship with the subject that is a COI. It's further highly unusual that the photo dates to 26 years ago, which would suggest that you have a long-standing relationship and familiarity with the subject.
Separately, you moved the page to WP:Wikipedia space, not WP:Mainspace, which is the wrong location for an article one way or another. But first, you are required to provide a real answer to the very obvious COI concern. signed, Rosguill talk 20:17, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is complete BS! There is no rule that I am to have no relationship with a subject, only that I must be objective and document everything. I have done both. Identify anything in the article that is not factually correct and properly documented. Only then will I take these objections seriously.. Accordingly, I ask that you restore this page to the Mainspace. Wctrenchard (talk) 20:25, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please actually read WP:COI, which explains that you actually are expected to disclose any apparent external connection you may have with a subject. Once you’ve done that and addressed the concern, your complaints will be taken seriously. signed, Rosguill talk 20:28, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have read WP:COI. The Rajah article needs to be published. There are Wikipedia pages for most of these Canadian award recipients. What am I to disclose and to whom or what do I disclose it? Wctrenchard (talk) 22:23, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
