IP sock edits
Hello Volten001, I have reverted all the recent edits at Genetic studies on Arabs back to the version of https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Genetic_studies_on_Arabs&oldid=1074626121 per WP:BANREVERT of the LTA IP sock: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/WorldCreaterFighter). I will later check if there are any reliable papers, for now I try to find and revert their misleading edits.
I hope this is OK for you too. Any help reverting the mass edits is appropriate! Best regards.Whhu22 (talk) 11:47, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

Helping COI editors write advertisements
Can you explain why you made a full revert of my edit on Ruben Vardanyan (businessman) after I carefully removed brazen COI garbage that made the page look like an advertisement for the subject?[1] Is this something I should expect in the future? That editors such as yourself are going to nullify the laborious and time-consuming efforts to fix COI rubbish on this website? Should I just not bother? Snooganssnoogans (talk) 13:47, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- My apologies for that. And I accept that I made a mistake. However, be kind in notifying others. You don't have to use harsh words in sharing your views and opinions. Last but not least, try to write better edit summaries when making the edits (especially a critical one like removing/adding content). Thanks and I will revert my edit on that article. Happy editing Volten001 talk 14:00, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
Pending changes reviewer granted
Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. - Oh okay. So both IP addresses belong to you? I now get your point. Your English is much understable but you ruined it with the use of explicit language at the beginning. Anyway, my opinion is that as long as we are collectively trying to improve Wikipedia, and not vandalising it, that is all that matters. Volten001 talk 14:13, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
Nah, nearly completely wrong. At 75 1/2 yrs, i am a little daft, but I was virtually certain that there was no possibility that the 1st batch of URLs above were due to me. They are probably a reflection of a “half-acid” internet scheme (cf. W’m Gibson’s ‘60s play 173.162.211.85 (talk) 15:34, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

(If “half-assed” seems confusing, consider how poorly a person would move around, if the muscles in one half of his/her buttocks had been amputated …
By the way, I don’t recall ever experiencing this com-interface before (tho it reminds me of teletype dialogues in the mid-1960s!). (Pausing to await any response, or complaint)
Oh! Your English is far better than the results of my 4 years of German, and if you’d value coaching on this crazy accident of history, freely given or for barter, don’t hesitate to discuss that.

Rollback granted
Hi Volten001,
After reviewing your request, I have added your account to the rollback group. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Users should be informed (or warned) after their edits have been reverted. If warnings repeatedly don't help, WP:ANI is the default place to go. In cases of very clear ongoing intentional damage to the encyclopedia, WP:AIV can be used.
- Reverting someone's edits may confuse or upset them. Whenever other users message you on your talk page, please take the time to respond to their concerns; accountability is important. For most users who message you, the tone and quality of your answer will permanently influence their opinion about Wikipedia in general.
- Because the plain default rollback link does not provide any explanatory edit summary, it must not be used to revert good faith contributions, even if these contributions are disruptive. Take the time to write a proper summary whenever you're dealing with a lack of neutrality or verifiability; a short explanation like "
[[WP:NPOV|not neutral]]
" or "[[WP:INTREF|Please provide a citation]]
" is helpful. - Rollback may never be used to edit war, which you'll notice to be surprisingly tempting in genuine content disputes. Please especially keep the three-revert rule in mind. If you see others edit warring, please file a report at WP:ANEW. The most helpful essay I've ever seen is WP:DISCFAIL; it is especially important for those who review content regularly.
- If you encounter private information or threats of physical harm during your patrols, please quickly use Special:EmailUser/Oversight or Special:EmailUser/Emergency; ideally bookmark these pages now. See WP:OS and WP:EMERGENCY for details. If you're regularly patrolling recent changes, you will need both contacts sooner or later, and you'll be happy about the bookmarks.
- Use common sense.
To try rollback for the first time, you may like to make an edit to WP:Sandbox, and another one, and another one, and then revert the row with one click. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about rollback. Thank you for your time and work in cleaning up Wikipedia. Happy editing!
Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 11:51, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

- A arbitration case regarding Skepticism and coordinated editing has been closed.
- A arbitration case regarding WikiProject Tropical Cyclones has been opened.
- Voting for the Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement guidelines has closed, and the results were that 56.98% of voters supported the guidelines. The results of this vote mean the Wikimedia Foundation Board will now review the guidelines.
RfA cmt.
Hello, Volten001! Regarding your comment at RfA, I believed it to be a thoughtful comment, but misplaced. I was actually going to make a similar comment until I saw yours. Those "place holder" !votes are vain, IMO. Next time, leave your comment under theirs instead of in the General Discussion and you'll be fine. No need to reinstate it; what's done is done. Happy editing. Rgrds. --Bison X (talk) 19:50, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Bison X,
- Thanks for noticing it and for your advice. Yeah the reason for removal was, I felt maybe it wasn't necessary to judge someone's vote or comment about it...they might think I'm compelling them to change or something. And either way, one is not required to explain their vote, it's just a courtesy. Thanks again and happy editing Volten001 ☎ 20:09, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
Uncited
Why do you believe that indicating that material was deleted due to it being uncited is insufficient explanation in an edit summary?
Also, please heed WP:BURDEN. --2603:7000:2143:8500:2432:BAE0:294F:5869 (talk) 07:31, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- 2603:7000:2143:8500:2432:BAE0:294F:5869, it is not recommended to remove content at all unless the content is not relevant or not acceptable. Rather, try putting (citation needed) tags. Regards Volten001 ☎ 07:37, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- All material in Wikipedia mainspace must be verifiable. Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed.
The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports a given piece of material if the information is present in the source so that using this source to support the material is not a violation of Wikipedia:No original research.
This is Wikipedia policy.
Please honor it. 2603:7000:2143:8500:2432:BAE0:294F:5869 (talk) 07:43, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

Unaccepted change
I unaccepted one of the changes to Busey Bank you accepted, the removal of the COI and advert maintenance templates. Although the editor did some cleanup, the article still sounds like an advert: Busey's story dates back to 1868; a young county seat ... financiers took in $9,555.60 that first day.; Busey family of financial services expands its offerings; and COI editing still looks likely.
I know the pending changes interface takes a bit of getting used to, especially with multiple edits to review. Please be careful. When someone removes a maintenance template, make sure that the problems have been resolved before approving the edit. Thanks, and happy editing! BlackcurrantTea (talk) 16:47, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello, I'm DisillusionedBitterAndKnackered. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you unlinked one or more redlinks from Chess. Often redlinks can be helpful, so we don't remove them just because they are red. They help improve Wikipedia by attracting editors to create needed articles.
In addition, clicking on the "What links here" special link (in the Wikipedia Toolbox at left) on a missing article shows how many—and which—articles depend on that article being created. This can help prioritize article creation. Redlinks are useful! Please only remove a redlink if you are pretty sure that it is to a non-notable topic and not likely ever to be created. Thanks!
