Ludowika Jakobsson

[edit]

I corrected the spellings in your article Ludowika Jakobsson. The word meaning inhabitant of Finland is spelled "Finnish" with two n's. "Finish" means to stop. I also deleted the category Finish figure skaters and replaced it with Finnish figure skaters.

Hello Uwe. Could you help me with this article? I have a few questions about Herma's mother and father, questions you may be able to answer because you understand German better than I do.

Are Christine von Szabo and Christine Schäfer the same person? (See Karl Schäfer.) Is Herma their child? I have been referencing all the relevant articles in English and German, as well as http://www.engelmann.co.at/k_history.htm, but I can't figure it out.

Also, am I missing anything major from de:Herma Szabo?

Thank you for any help you can give! --Fang Aili talk 18:17, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The wife of Karl Schäfer was Christine Schäfer. She was the daughter of Eduard Engelmann jr., the owner of the Vienna-Hernals ice rink. Christine von Szabo is the sister of him, Eduard Englemann jr., so both women are two different persons. Christine von Szabo is the mother of Herma Szabo. I have no clue why the "von" got lost. Herma Szabo was obviously several times merried, thats why there are so many permutations of her name. So in the German article I decided to put her just under de:Herma Szabo. Eduard Engelmann jr. is son of Eduard Engelmann senior. What else do you need to know about Herma Szabo? I do not really understand your question. The link is refering to the correct German article. Uwe Langer 21:09, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I missed your response. I'll look at this thing again later on. Good job with the junior worlds page! --Fang Aili talk 14:40, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great translation on figure skater. wow. Could you alos translate Hermann Schulz? and expand Ingrid Lehmann Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:20, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not particularly interested like to broaden my interests! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:34, 2 September 2006 (UTC) Sure I can translate, however Hermann did not win any international medal. He is certainly interesting from the German perspective. Are you sure I shoud add him to the english wiki? I would love to expand the article about Ingrid Lehmann, but do not have really more material. End of September I will be at the Nebelhorntrophy in Oberstdorf. Unlikely but hopefully I can collect some facts. Uwe Langer 15:30, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Uwe Langer,

User:Badbilltucker has proposed creating a WikiProject for articles related to Germany. Since you seem to speak German pretty well and to contribute to Germany-related articles, I was wondering if you would be interested in helping with this project. If you want to know more about the proposal you can check the temporary project page or the List of proposed projects.--CarabinieriTTaallkk 10:43, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to WikiProject Germany

[edit]

Welcome, Uwe Langer, to the WikiProject Germany! Please direct any questions about the project to its talk page. If you create new articles on Germany-related topics, please list them at our announcement page and tag their talk page with our project template {{WikiProject Germany}}. A few features that you might find helpful:

  • The project's Navigation box points to most of the pages in the project that might be of use to you.
  • Most of the important discussions related to the project take place on the project's main talk page; you may find it useful to watchlist it.
  • We've developed a number of guidelines for names, titles, and other things to standardize our articles and make interlinking easier that you may find useful.

Here are some tasks you can do. Please remove completed tasks from the list.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me or any of the more experienced members of the project, and we'll be very happy to help you. Again, welcome, and thank you for joining this project! Kusma (討論) 16:33, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not calling you a monster. :) Saying in the edit summary (and so in the history) what the source is doesn't count as citing the source. Please put a ==References== section at the bottom of the page with the information about the brochure. See WP:Cite for more information. Awartha 22:10, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: Figure Skating

[edit]

Hey. :) I find a lot of new skating articles in one of two ways: either by already having the red link on my watchlist, or by clicking on the "contribs" link next to a name. As for results pages, I would love it if you made them! It's hard for me to find online results for competitions that took place before 1999 and I think it would be wonderful to have those results on wikipedia. But, hey, if you don't have time, no pressure. :) Kolindigo 01:13, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: United States flag

[edit]

Hi. Thanks so much for all the articles you've created! I've been using the articles Flag of the United States and Flag of Canada to find out when the flags for those countries changed. According to the Flag of the United States article, the current US flag ( United States {{flagicon|USA}} ) was put into effect a few months after the 1960 World Championships, so there is no special US flag for 1962. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Uwe Langer! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 13 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 5 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Question

[edit]

Hello Uwe Langer, i liked to ask you a question, hopefully you know the right answer (forgive me if mine English isn’t very good, as a Dutchman i didn’t use English very much)

About the competitorslist of pairs of the WCH figureskating 1959 in Colorado Springs: on skatabase they mention a number of 8, you in your article 1959 World Figure Skating Championships a number of 7, the USA pair Maribel Owen / Dudley Richards is the different pair (+ vs. -). Do you know what’s right in these? 86.85.150.20 (talk) 13:03, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, i forgot that. 8th was the pair from Austria Hinko/Dopfl. Uwe Langer (talk) 20:17, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot place no. 6th Owen/Richards (USA). I just added them. Thank you very much for the tip. Uwe Langer (talk) 20:23, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question II

[edit]

Hello Uwe Langer, i liked to ask you another question, hopefully you know the right answer again.

About the competitorslist of pairs of the WCH figureskating 1966 in Davos: on skatabase they mention a number of 14, you in your article 1966 World Figure Skating Championships a number of 15.
The AUT pair Schönbauer / Bietak ranked 14 (with a placingscore of 124) is the different pair. Do you know what’s right in these? Are you right (as following the: Result List provided by the ISU) or eskatefans?
Note: At their personel articles on en:wikipedia, both competitors are only competed in 1964 and 1965. Thank you for your attention to this (as time being). 86.85.150.20 (talk) 13:35, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, sorry for being not online for so long. I have checked the ISU result list. The Austrians Schönbauer / Bietak were 14th and Csordás / Kondi from Hungary were place 15th. The editor of Skatabase must have forgottem them. However i found a mistake in the placings of the Canadiens (It was obviously not 1118, it was 118) in my article, so i had a chance to correct that. Keep asking, i am quite equipped with result lists, I go to libraries and search for old results. Europeans and Worlds of Figure skating are also published by the ISU (International Skating Union). Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:10, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
