Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Bellwether Technology Corporation. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Hi Julie. Please excuse my inexperience as this is the first time I've ever created a page. I added references this morning. What else do I need to do to keep the page from being removed? Thank you very much for your help. I couldn't figure out how else to contact you. Uptjeff (talk) 17:24, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Bellwether1980.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Bellwether1980.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fred the Oyster (talk) 18:26, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Bellwetherlogo1980.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Bellwetherlogo1980.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 04:17, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

About Paid Editing/Conflict-of-Interest Editing

[edit]

Hello, Uptjeff. I am a fellow editor on this site with an overly-lengthy username. Sorry.

I noticed that you seem to have made quite a number of edits to the Bellwether Technology Corporation, and that you stated in at least one diff that "This is the official logo for Bellwether Technology Corporation. I work for the company and would like to add it..." I'm not sure whether you are being paid to edit Wikipedia or not, but even if you are not being paid, you still have a strong conflict-of-interest with the company.

I don't know if you're aware that Wikipedia has a rather stringent policy regarding conflict-of-interest editing or paid editing (since one of the fundamental rules of Wikipedia is that all articles must be written from a Neutral Point of View, and it is nearly impossible for someone that has a relationship with their company, or is being paid to promote their company, to achieve that). The full policy can be seen here (or a more condensed version can be seen here, since I know the original can be quite long and overwhelming), but in short the policies require this:

  • You need to disclose both on the article's talk page and on your user page that you either have a conflict-of-interest with the company, or that you have been paid to edit the article for the company (as well as mention "who is paying you, who the client is, and any other relevant role or relationship" in the latter case).
    • If the former is the case, you can most easily do that using the {{connected contributor}} template on the former and the {{UserboxCOI}} template on the latter.
    • If the latter is the case, you can most easily do that using the {{Connected contributor (paid)}} template on the former and the {{paid}} template on the latter.
  • You are strongly discouraged from directly editing the article, regardless of whether you are being paid or not; instead, it is highly recommended that you post the changes you wish to make on the article's talk page alongside a {{request edit}} template. That way, your requested changes can be listed in this category, and anyone patrolling that category can come and make the changes for you.
    • I should also mention that you are allowed to directly edit the article to make uncontroversial changes (fixing spelling/grammatical errors, etc.), but you should still be very careful when doing that.

I hope this is helpful; if you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page, or to ask questions at the Wikipedia Teahouse, where you will find several welcoming editors that will be happy to help you.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Bellwether1980.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Bellwether1980.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
