Hello Tyxfoax. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Tyxfoax. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Tyxfoax|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 10:03, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Tyxfoax, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Tyxfoax|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. 331dot (talk) 10:12, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You still have not adequately responded or taken action to the inquiry regarding your appearance as an undisclosed paid editor. If you make any additional edits without complying, you may be blocked from editing. 331dot (talk) 10:20, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Request reason:

I would like to respectfully request an unblock for my edits. This is not a paid or compensated contribution; I am simply a member of the community adding valuable and accurate information about Northeast Career and Technical Academy (NECTA) to Wikipedia. My intent is to create an encyclopedic entry for NECTA, much like other schools in the Clark County School District that have pages highlighting their programs and mission.
I have taken significant steps to ensure that the content adheres to Wikipedia’s guidelines, including:
1. Adding reliable and independent sources to establish the notability of the school, such as those directly detailing NECTA's programs, curriculum, and community impact.
2. Ensuring that the language used is neutral, avoiding promotional tone, and presenting factual information aligned with how similar school entries are structured.
3. Structuring the page to reflect standard formats seen in other school pages, with sections on programs, curriculum, and references for verification.
I am not affiliated with receiving any form of compensation for these edits. My sole aim is to contribute knowledge to the public domain and document NECTA’s role within the School district as part of Wikipedia’s mission to provide free information to everyone. I welcome feedback and am open to making further improvements if necessary. Thank you for your time and consideration. Tyxfoax (talk) 15:47, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please place new posts at the bottom, so they stay in order. This may be easier to do if you click "edit" and not "reply" to edit this page. The reply function is imperfect and does not work well in every situation(knowing that only comes with experience).

So, to confirm, you have no connection or affiliation with the school or school district? I will add that Wikipedia's mission is not "to provide free information to everyone". See the five pillars. 331dot (talk) 16:04, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am affiliated with Northeast Career and Technical Academy (NECTA) as a volunteer/Member. Sorry for not disclosing this earlier. I understand Wikipedia's guidelines on neutrality and conflict of interest. Tyxfoax (talk) 16:19, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To be frank, you were writing as if you were writing a promotional brochure for the school, describing its features and offerings. If you see other articles do this, those are also inappropriate and we volunteers just haven't gotten around to dealing with them yet(see other stuff exists). If you want to use another article as a model, use those that are classified as good articles. A Wikipedia article about an organization should primarily summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. In the past, existence was sufficient to merit a school an article, but that is no longer the case(this is why you may see other inappropriate articles). Unless a school building is a historic structure or is significantly written about in independent sources, most schools do not merit articles. Even Sandy Hook Elementary School redirects to the school district. Someone else will review your request, but please see conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 17:56, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
