Dambulla
[edit]The following article needs a renaming. [1] Title of the article is not appropriate since the article deals with the Dambulla Cave Temple of Sri Lanka not with Dambulla town. Proper title will be Dambulla Cave Temple
- can I rename it? Is there any Standard procedure fro that?
--Terrance 09:02, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, Dambulla appears to deal with the World Heritage Site. First, mention the move at Talk:Dambulla, and wait a few days. If nobody complains, or if other users agree, simply use the [move] tab at the top of the article to move it to its new location. You may also be interested in the Manual of Style to see what the appropriate title is. Cheers, Tangotango 09:08, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Please add the prominent persons like you have mentioned. This list and article can be expanded. RaveenS
Is it ok
[edit]hi, i am righting som articles on chiristianity in ta: i found a open source picture bible which is in the form of figures. I want to know weather i can use some of the pictures in wiki? is it allowed? etc. This is the site.
- Hi, yes, it's okay to upload these images (since they are in the public domain). Make sure you cite the source and use the appropriate copyright (or no copyright) tag. If at all possible, please consider uploading to Wikimedia Commons, so that all Wikimedia projects can use the images using a unified name. If you need any more help, please feel free to ask again. Cheers, Tangotango 09:45, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Templates
[edit]this is problem i encounteres in ta::
- i could not insert a template in one article more than 85 times.(it is country list so i need at least 200 times) when I do that a red link appears. when follwed that link it goes to to article space not to the teplate which is already there in wiki saved.
is there such limits on number of templates. any tricks to overcome it? thank you for your help in advance--Terrance 03:17, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Er...then just don't do that? Frankly, I do not believe any template should be used that much in one article. Ryūlóng 03:22, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies
[edit]Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of [unassessed articles] tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 22:58, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
Lastly, a new WikiProject Biography channel has been set up on the freenode network: Our thanks to Phoenix 15 for setting it up.

WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation
[edit]There is some progress now in WP:SLR, please come and check it out! Because there's so much going on, I just created Wikipedia:WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation/housekeeping to separate our internal housekeeping stuff from the current discussion about articles, which is of interest for more than just our members. Please add this page to your watchlist. I also wrote a new proposal on its talk page, WT:SLR/H#Proposed recipients for barnstars. Please let me know what you think of it! — Sebastian 11:28, 11 November 2007 (UTC) (I may not be watching this page anymore. If you would like to continue the conversation, please do so here and let me know.)

[edit]Dear Terrance,
Thank you for your advice on the image. Is it not possible to retain that image under a 'screenshot image' licence? If even that is not possible, then there would be no other choice but to remove the image. P.s. May I also know what brought your attention to this article? File copyright problem with File:William Gopallawa.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:William Gopallawa.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Closedmouth (talk) 07:44, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:47, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
Wikimedia Community User Group Sri Lanka
[edit]Dear Trengarasu,
Thank you for your contributions to the Wikimedia Projects. As an editor from Sri Lanka, you are warmly invited to join the official Wikimedia Community User Group Sri Lanka and to subscribe to its mailing list, Wikimedia-LK. The user group currently includes volunteers from Wikipedia and other projects, from the English, Sinhala, and Tamil speaking communities. It is the Wikimedia-approved platform for editors from Sri Lanka to enable wider collaboration, for both online and offline projects. With your support, we hope to organize cross-project content improvement drives as part of online projects, as well as organize in-person edit-a-thons, training sessions, photowalks, and other such activities, in the near future. The ultimate goal(s) of these initiatives is to improve the overall coverage and quality of topics relating to Sri Lanka, as well as encourage new editors to join the Wikimedia community, while simultaneously empowering and retaining our existing team of editors. There are no mandatory obligations for members who choose join the community, other than the usual editing rules for online projects, and the friendly space policy for in-person projects. You may also (or instead) subscribe to the mailing list, where any member could initiate discussions with volunteers across projects, notify members of events and meetings, stay up to date with competitions, organize your own events, and so on. See you on board, and Happy Editing! | |
