Why this page exists

[edit]

I came across this page and was wondering what it is. Could someone please explain? Mathman1550 (talk) 21:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Potter references sometimes indicate vandalism or inappropriate edits (it's just one of those common pop culture things, I guess). I track every reference to Harry Potter in our articles using an off-site bot, and this is a list of articles that legitimately (more or less) contain the name of Harry Potter. My bot writes new references to the page User:Tony Sidaway/searches/harry potter, and if they're legitimate I copy them to this page. If they're not legitimate I do something about the problem with the article. [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lewis_Clay&action=history Here is an example of that.
The next time it runs the bot sees the reference in an article but, because the reference is in this page (hence the name "exclusion list") it doesn't write it to the search page. --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 21:49, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
