Question about joining the Science Article of the Month Project

[edit]

Hi. I got your message about getting involved in the Science article of the month project. I would love to edit some articles here, but when I looked at the articles that need editing I realized that my BA in microbiology from 1981 is not enough of an education to properly do these articles justice. I might be able to help with more simple edits or simple science subjects, so if you see something like that I will be happy if you sent it my way.Simplysavvy (talk) 11:10, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Missing cite info from content copy

[edit]

From what I understands, there's a bot that comes along and restores missing cite information when there is content copied from another article. From experience, I believe it scans all articles linked from the article content got copied to, and then restores the citation details from that article automatically. --NickPenguin(contribs) 02:11, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Looking back, my edit summaries seem a bit snarky, sorry about that. Feel free to undo those "corrections" of mine—would my edits have impeded such a bot's efforts to restore this information? Tomásdearg92 (talk) 14:28, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Events happening in Dublin

[edit]

Hey, I remember you had hoped to attend our event in the Science Gallery last year, thought I would keep you in the loop. We now have a recognised Wikimedia Community Ireland User Group and we have been running workshops and other events in Dublin and beyond. In case you are interested our next event will be this Saturday in Collins Barracks, you can find the details here. Smirkybec (talk) 19:04, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for letting me know! Unfortunately, I can't be around for the event in Collins Barracks this weekend but I will keep my eyes and ears open for other events. I do look forward to working with other people here, it can be a bit strange wandering aimlessly around the wiki. Tomásdearg92 (talk) 18:18, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to hear you're still interested in coming along to a meetup at some point! Do let us know if there is any venue/topic/subject etc you think we should cover :) Hopefully we'll get to see you at an event soon, thanks for replying! Smirkybec (talk) 18:40, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Today's articles for improvement

  • Hello Tomásdearg92:
Please consider participating in this week's vote for TAFI's upcoming Week 17 collaboration. Last week's voting did not receive many participants. Thanks for your consideration. North America1000 16:15, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
