Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for spamming or advertising. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

This is an appeal to Donald Albury who has blocked me indefinitely from editing Wikipedia. I am struggling to understand the wiki rules, specifically the wiki rules I have breached to justify the block you have put on me. I am also struggling to contact you to discuss this. Might you consider emailing me on timbobutcher@gmail.com so I can get to the bottom of this matter. I am fully happy to be blocked if you think the material I added is in breach of your rules but I wanted to point out that the material I have added is intended to add to, not exploit, the Wiki archive. I did a trip in 2009 along the route used in 1935 through Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, by Graham Greene. He wrote a book about his journey, called Journey Without Maps, a book of sufficient interest that it has its own Wiki page. I added my book as further reading on this subject as my book not only shows what has happened to the places visited by Greene but also reveals new material about him and the journey. I thought this was a reasonable addition to the Journey Without Maps page. If you think not then please let me know what wiki rules that breaches. Similarly, the Greene material in my book and the discoveries about Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea and towns/places in those countries would, I believe, add to a wiki reader's knowledge of the relevant pages for those places.

If you could reconsider your blocking or at least let me know your thinking I would be most grateful.

With thanks

Please see Wikipedia:Spam, which is a guideline for content in Wikipedia, and in particular, the section on BOOKSPAM. Also, I blocked your account per the Wikipedia:Blocking policy. I've reviewed your edits both under this user name, and from an IP address you used four years ago), and the only edits I see from you are to the article about you, and to indiscriminately add mention of your books to many articles. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it is not a vehicle for promoting your books. If any of your books are useful as a source for an article in Wikipedia, please let other authors add the appropriate content to that article and properly cite your book(s). Frankly, you have had an account for almost four years, and have contributed nothing to Wikipedia, other than the edits to your own article. I see no reason to lift the block. You may still appeal this block by following the instructions above, which will alert other administrators to review the block. -- Donald Albury 15:28, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I understand why I was blocked and undertake not to repeat the same behaviour. I was then new to the Wikipedia but am now more familiar with its rules and standards, especially those relating to spamming or advertising. With thanks for your consideration. Decline reason:

Awaiting response to request from Vanjagenije-- Please, take some time to:

  • Explain in detail what was wrong with your edits and why,
  • Explain how exactly you intend to change your behavior if unblocked,
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked. --Dlohcierekim (talk) 10:49, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Please, take some time to:

  • Explain in detail what was wrong with your edits and why,
  • Explain how exactly you intend to change your behavior if unblocked,
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:33, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocked

[edit]

I have unblocked you. Seven years seems long enough. I hope you make some useful contributions to Wikipedia. --Donald Albury 22:26, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
