Image tagging for Image:Hoshi charlotte.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Hoshi charlotte.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:Mako b&w.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Mako b&w.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:13, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Your recent creation of an article named Elizabeth Sung
[edit] Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Elizabeth Sung. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0839287/bio in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Elizabeth Sung with a link to where we can find that note;
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Elizabeth Sung with a link to the details.
Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Elizabeth Sung saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.
It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 05:17, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Academy Awards

Notability of Robey Theatre Company
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Robey Theatre Company, by Senordingdong, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Robey Theatre Company seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Robey Theatre Company, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page, and put a note on its talk page. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Robey Theatre Company itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 21:29, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Non-free use disputed for Image:Cedar grove logo.JPG
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Cedar grove logo.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:29, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Lodestone_logo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Lodestone_logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 11:13, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Capitalization of terms describing race
[edit]Sorry if I am out of line placing this here, but thought I'd leave this here. I just left this comment on User:The Transhumanist: I wanted to comment on a previous discussion regarding capitalizing "Black" in the article, List of black Academy Award winners and nominees. It's just as well that I start anew... Is it not correct to capilaize peoples' race? In one of your examples, you yourself use (correctly) "Native Americans." In this article title, of course "Black Academy Award..." was not referring to a proper name of an award. "Black" is not an adjective modifying "Academy Award," but rather, "Academy Award winners and nominees." It is identifying, by race, who is on the list. It is not "an adjective like any other." It is a proper name, "Black," when used here, like "Caucasian." Unless he just took a bath in black paint, no, a Black man is not a black man, but he is and always will be a Black man. From what I have been taught, and have been able to gather before writing this, race is a proper name, and should be capitalized. (it's not specified at Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Capital letters but I did get this confirmed on the Chicago Manual of Style online guide Chicago Manual of Style Online.TienTao 21:23, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. You posted the above on my Talk Page. Thanks. I am sorry that I was not able to reply sooner. You also posted the above on the Talk Page for a user named The TransHumanist. I was (sort of) waiting to see her reply, but as of yet, there has been no reply from her. In any event, I posted this very question on the Wikipedia Help Page that deals with Language. You can see here: Wikipedia:Reference desk/Language under the June 15 entry entitled "Question about capitalization." Perhaps you might be interested in that conversation on that Help Desk page. Ultimately, I guess that whether or not to capitalize "Black" (race) is merely a matter of style and preference. But it seems that capitalized is better than not. Thanks again. "Best" in Academy Awards categories
[edit]Hello, Thanks for your comments. However, it should be noted that the Academy itself defines their awards categories. Regarding category names, "Best Picture" is the correct name of that award, and it is the only Academy Award with "Best" in the name. Go to official AMPAS sources and you will see this is consistant. Most of the general public (all, I would say), think and use "Best" for everything, which is incorrect. Of course, we could get picky and say the full name should be "Academy Award of Merit for Outstanding Achievement in..." While I don't think that's necessary, I do think all the incorrect wiki use of "Best" regarding Academy Awards should be struck. The problem is, as I said, the public thinks this is correct, and would likely get all irate and revert it back. TienTao 19:47, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, you are correct. Coincidentally, I had recently been in contact with AMPAS about this very issue. They had informed me that the word "Best" is not officially part of the award titles (e.g., the award is for "Actor" and not "Best Actor", etc.). As you pointed out, the exception is "Best Picture." Thanks! (JosephASpadaro 23:27, 21 June 2007 (UTC))

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ASC-logo.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:ASC-logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.ssdc.org/about_hist.php. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. Speedy deletion of Robert A. Nakamura
[edit]A tag has been placed on Robert A. Nakamura requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
