  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.

Speedy deletion nomination of Niggress

[edit]

Hello Tidergamer789,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username MPGuy2824, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Niggress, for deletion, because there's already a page about that topic at Negress. Please don't be discouraged; we appreciate your effort in creating new articles. To avoid this in the future, consider using the search function to find pages that already cover what you want to write about.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|MPGuy2824}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Earl Lawhorn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.wisconsinrightnow.com/2021/08/27/earl-lawhorn/ and https://www.cbs58.com/news/i-need-some-justice-family-identifies-man-fatally-shot-by-police-near-milwaukees-sherman-park. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 2A01:4C8:A1:F08E:69AA:AD25:80F8:B9C5 (talk) 15:52, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please use AfC

[edit]

Hi. When creating articles, I think it would be best if you use the WP:Articles for creation process. It's great that you're enthusiastic about creating articles, but the ones you're creating do not appear to satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. Additionally, if an article has been declined through the AfC process multiple times, you should not bypass that process by creating the article in WP:Mainspace. Thanks. – 2.O.Boxing 20:17, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly recommend you use the AfC process for creating articles. As mentioned above, we have guidelines that set out Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and as of now, the articles you've chosen to create unfortunately fail to satisfy said criteria. As I said before, it's great that you've shown interest in creating articles, (and for me) even more so boxing ones. However, I think you might need to slow down a tad; make minor edits to articles that you have an interest in to build up your knowledge and experience. Or, if you simply can't be arsed and just want to create articles, before creating one try doing a quick Google search for the subject to see if they've received WP:Significant coverage in WP:Reliable sources. If you're struggling to find a subject for a boxing related article, just drop me a message and I'm sure I'd be able to come up with a few suggestions. Thanks. – 2.O.Boxing 20:03, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tidergamer789

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Clog Wolf, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Umut Camkiran, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Clog Wolf}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Eric Pen, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history, as well as helping prevent edit conflicts. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it.

The Show preview button is right next to the Publish changes button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Sam Sailor 08:26, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Sam Sailor 08:29, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Eleanor Neale requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Possible paid editing

[edit]
Information icon

Hello Tidergamer789. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Eleanor Neale, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Tidergamer789. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Tidergamer789|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. CycloneYoris talk! 01:20, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Welter moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Harry Welter. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and As a BLP, this does not meet GNG. It sounds more like an (possibly criminal) incident, but not something that meets GNG either.. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Sam Sailor 09:48, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Killing of Harry Welter has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Event does not appear to be notable under WP:Notability (events); coverage seems to indicate death was accidental, and little to no coverage exists beyond December 2021

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Killing of Harry Welter

[edit]

Hello Tidergamer789,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Killing of Harry Welter for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Killing of Harry Welter to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

If this was the first article that you created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

The page Draft:Biggest lawsuit against usa police has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://www.ktvu.com/news/jury-awards-8-25m-to-black-mother-daughters-handcuffed-outside-castro-valley-starbucks, https://globalnews.ca/news/2108649/nyc-reaches-5-9-million-settlement-in-chokehold-death-of-eric-garner/, and and many more. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review. -- Diannaa (talk) 21:31, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't copy material from elsewhere

[edit]

Hello. I am Diannaa and I am a Wikipedia administrator. Prose you find online, in books, in magazines, and in newspapers is almost always copyright, and cannot be copied here; it's against the copyright policy of this website to do so. You can't add copyright content to sandboxes or drafts either. All prose must be written in your own words. The Wikipedia copyright policy and its application are complex matters, and you should not edit any more until you have taken the time to read and understand our copyright policy. There's a simplified version of our copyright rules at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. Further copyright issues will result in you being blocked from editing. -- -- Diannaa (talk) 18:01, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion

[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. ~~~~ S Philbrick(Talk) 12:42, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
