Question about my Article Senegalese people in Germany
Can you please help me find more reliable resources about Senegalese people in Germany?
- You have misunderstood how Wikipedia works. we don't write a draft and then look for sources.
Wikipedia summarises what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable topic. Theroadislong (talk) 14:39, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- What I mean by that is help me look for more resourceful information. Can you please help me do that? AmericanEditor350 (talk) 14:43, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- I'm sorry but I don't have the first idea how to find sources for Draft:Senegalese people in Germany it does not appear to be a notable topic I'm afraid. Theroadislong (talk) 14:49, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
You and I have both declined this draft. The first submitter was blocked for spamming, and then the second submitter popped up, which looks like sockpuppetry. Robert McClenon (talk) 06:53, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022
Hello Theroadislong,
- Backlog status
At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.
Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]
In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).
While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).
- Backlog drive
A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.
- TIP – New school articles
Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.
- Misc
There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}
, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:
Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 14012 articles, as of 02:00, 2 December 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot
There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page. - If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
- To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Problem with article Jeff Bourns
Hey mate, I am a new editor trying to keep neutral fact based positions on a new form of tennis for persons with disabilities. Adaptive Standing Tennis. Recently, there was a user who left a message, which was later deleted by her, about the article Jeff Bourns being a paid article, which is false. Can you please offer me some guidance or support? Joseph Pyrz
Hello, The Joseph Pyrz Wikipedia page in English is a direct translation of the French and Polish versions, which has been published for many years: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Pyrz
Please can you review your rejection of the publication?
Kind regards MWATTO Mwatto (talk) 16:16, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- The draft was declined NOT rejected, the English Wikipedia has stricter guidelines on inclusion, it is irrelevant that they have a French article, they will need to pass WP:NARTIST to warrant an article here. Theroadislong (talk) 16:30, 25 June 2022 (UTC)

Joseph Pyrz - justifications for inclusion
Some of Joseph Pyrz works are significant monuments, for example: - Monument to Olivier Messiaen is at the centre of the town Vouzeron in France; (Olivier Messiaen: French composer, organist, and ornithologist who was one of the major composers of the 20th century (source: Wikipedia)) - The stone sculpture of St Rita, in the St Rita chapel of the Basilica de Sacre Coeur in Paris was sculpted by Joseph Pyrz and is the main and permanent feature of the chapel since the 1980s. - Wikipedia (english) pages of Durham and Chester cathedrals make reference to Joseph Pyrz works, where his works are predominantly exposed in dedicated chapels. The sculpture in Durham cathedral being a major focal point of the Galilee chapel within the cathedral. The Durham Cathedral and Chester Cathedral Wikipedia pages should include links to a dedicated Joseph Pyrz Wikipedia page.
Joseph Pyrz has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition: The centre d'arts in Schorbach was created specifically to house the works of Joseph Pyrz. A path near the centre has been named after Joseph Pyrz https://www.outdooractive.com/fr/route/randonnee/lorraine/balade-autour-de-schorbach/231615581/
Joseph Pyrz is represented by permanent exhibitions at the Centre d'art Schorbach, notable cathedrals, the Cultural centre of the Pomarede: http://la-pomarede.net/sculptures.html, and a significant number of churches in Europe have Joseph Pyrz works as the focal point of the church altar, or in dedicated chapels.
Links to articles written about Joseph Pyrz have been added to the draft Wikipedia page, demonstrating the citation of peers.
The Cultural centre of the Pomerade includes articles about the permanent works on display: http://la-pomarede.net/documents/sculptures.pdf
Joseph Pyrz is a notable artist in France and Poland, and was commissioned to produce art works for notable Cathedrals in the UK.
Wikipedia pages in French and Polish already exist, so this draft is to produce an English Wikipedia page, to be linked to the French and Polish versions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwatto (talk • contribs) 09:24, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

Ian Maksin Article
Hi!
All of the information written about the subject of the article came from me sitting next to and speaking to them in a conversation. How do I cite primary source information?
- You cannot. A Wikipedia article about a person must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a person, showing how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person. We have zero interest in what they say about themselves. Theroadislong (talk) 14:56, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi,
You recently commented to me: Comment: Not clear what actually makes her notable? Theroadislong (talk) 15:57, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
So I look up what qualifies as notable and she has several articles written about her in reliable secondary sources (TIME, Conde Nast, People, Health Digest, etc.) about her as a Peloton Instructor, Dancer, and business owner.
What makes her any less notable than these Peloton instructors that have published articles? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jess_King https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_D%27Ercole
When you look at the Peloton Page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peloton_Interactive), there are several instructors that have linked articles. I just don't understand what makes my article less relevant/notable than others that were approved.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much!

You say "there are several instructors that have linked articles" but the vast majority do not have articles. Hello, Theroadislong! I appreciate all the feedbacks. But I just want to ask questions about the article I am making for one of the Filipino authors I look up to. It was stated that there is no indication that the person is notable. I just followed the WP:ANYBIO guidelines and saw that a person becomes notable if they received awards. The person stated in the article is also being talked by readers and my peers. What other things should I improve? Do I need to put more references?
Thank you. Kaizen the Great (talk) 06:23, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- The awards need to be notable ones, ie. they have their own Wikipedia article. Theroadislong (talk) 06:36, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I already added references to the International Awards section. They are conducted by notable publishers and community organizations in India. Draft:Zowey Rens - Wikipedia Is that already okay? Kaizen the Great (talk) 07:53, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- You may have added references BUT the awards are not notable (no Wikipedia articles) so do not help establish the subjects notability. Theroadislong (talk) 07:55, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, so awards are only notable if they have Wikipedia articles, which means that Wikipedia articles are the only things that make an award notable, then? Not other reliable sources? And they don't become notable if they are conducted by notable publishers and community organizations? Kaizen the Great (talk) 08:00, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- And I've also read that using Wikipedia articles as sources are not allowed WP:CIRC, so even if these awards have Wikipedia articles, I still couldn't use them as a reference, that's why I used other reliable sources. Kaizen the Great (talk) 08:15, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Piotr Witkowski
A tag has been placed on Piotr Witkowski requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Curbon7 (talk) 21:08, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Alfred Cowles & Retroactive Notability
Hi there,
I was looking at the Alfred Cowles entry and found a stub indicating a need for secondary sources to support notability. I'm new to Wikipedia and there's alot to get my head around, so please give me some slack. In Economics Alfred Cowles and greater yet, the foundation that bares his name are foundational in the history of Economics so I was intially surprised to see so little written about him, and further still, questions regarding Cowles's notability. However, in my search for secondary sources on Alfred Cowles himself, I found the area lacking to some extent. Some books dedicate a section discussing his life and his contribution to Economics, but his fame seems to derive as a result of the impact of the Cowles foundation.
The problem in short, how to separate individual notability from notability arising due to academics working within an institution that bares his name. As an individual, he wrote some solid papers which were published in good journals, but from WP guidelines this is not enough. So given his notability is largely the product of instition which he funded and, in its early years, guided, should this in some retroactive way make Alfred Cowles as person notable?
An example would be William Deloitte. The firm that bares his name is amongst the largest accounting firms currently in operation. However, as an individual he lacks in notability. Who knew at that time Deloitte would transform into a global behemoth?
Apologies for the lack of brevity here, it's a bit of an ambiguous question and as someone new to wikipedia I thought you could either address the issue, or point me in the right direction.
Met vriendelijke groet, Sadke4 (talk) 09:07, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
- The article as written has more content about his relations than it does about him and notability cannot be inherited from them. Perhaps a brief paragraph at Cowles Foundation would be better than a stand alone article? Theroadislong (talk) 12:18, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for checking the edubudgie linux page. This is my first submission and I have no idea how to get a wikipedia page about this linux distribution. Yes, I created the distro myself - but how would one get a wikipedia page about it if it is not written by me? If someone else can write one then that would be fantastic. There is a webpage and another article that I have written for it in a magazine along with a few reviews that other people have done as videos or articles. Can someone help point me in the right direction? The comment was that it looks like an advertisement which I can understand except for the fact that the project is not in any way monetized. This website isn't worth the time it takes to try to create objective topics only to have them rejected because some admin drunk with power decides anything written by the person who made the thing must be an advertisement. If he/she had actually READ the material they would have seen that's not actually the case, but that didnt happen. Furthermore if I had been trying to make an ad it would have sounded really damn good rather than simply being facts about the thing, but that concept seems to be above and beyond whoever this person is. Literally I am looking at the SAME exact complaint directly above. I would have LOVED to work with someone who actually explains what it is that is NOT objective, removed or modified it, how to improve the topic, how to do this process well, etc., but nope. Not worth my time when we just receive shitty conceited feedback without any direction whatsoever. I'll put my efforts back into my software rather than contributing to this mess. If you were an ACTUAL editor youd know how this process works - and mind-reading isn't a part of it. Teacheradamodix (talk) 15:32, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) well, as a teacher, I'd expect you to know better, specifically that you are not the be-all-end-all of knowledge, particularly in areas (as in, editing Wikipedia) you have no experience in. TRL is not the problem here, they are a very helpful, well respected editor. PRAXIDICAE🌈 15:35, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- Teacheradamodix You have misunderstood how Wikipedia works. Wikipedia summarises what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable topic. It is not a venue for telling the world about something you have created. Theroadislong (talk) 15:49, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

Need some help
Hi. I recently created this article Draft:Religion in Madagascar because Madagascar perhaps is one of only a few countries that don't have a Religion related page of their own on Wikipedia. But I don't know what to do now. Who is going to review it and make it a mainstream article. Do I need to submit it somewhere, or it will be assessed on its own? Regards Neplota (talk) 12:13, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- I've add the submit template for you, the draft could do with more content and sourcing to be accepted.Theroadislong (talk) 12:18, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
Playmaker Capital
Hello - can you please inform me of what needs to change in order to have the Playmaker Capital page approved? Playmaker fans (talk) 15:31, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

Playmaker Capital
I have now updated the article and removed the external links as you suggested. Please advise of anything else that needs to change in order to have this page published. Playmaker fans (talk) 18:53, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia summarizes information that appears in independent reliable sources with significant coverage showing how a topic meets Wikipedia's special definition of notability. Your draft has no such sources, the external links that you correctly removed were primary sources so of no use as references. See WP:YFA and WP:REFB for further help and understand that creating a new article is the most difficult thing you can attempt here. You need to learn more about how Wikipedia works first and gain experience by editing other articles. 18:57, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
Playmaker Capital
This is a page about a company though, so I am unsure what you mean by an independent reliable source that shows how this topic meets notability. Can you please provide an explanation of what needs to change more specifically. We want to create a page for this company as one does not already exist.
What do you consider to be a reliable source for this article to reference? Any tips or direction would be greatly appreciated. Playmaker fans (talk) 19:55, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

individual contributor
The references are from linkedin and indeed. They aren't the new york times, but seem reliable to me. And as these are job role titles, these seem like appropriate sources. The articles are not mentioning the subject in passing. They are actually titled with the term. This is a real thing. It's big in the industry. I'm not making it up. And, it should be in wikipedia.
What in particular do you think is not up to snuff?
I've run into this on wikipedia before. Someone drops a pre-made blob of text on something as a critique. It may have lots of words, but it's not actionable. Stevebroshar (talk) 03:45, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry but Linkedin.com is NEVER a reliable source for anything, it is user edited. You will need at least three reliable sources that cover the term in depth. Theroadislong (talk) 07:15, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
Revision
thank you for your speedy revision,
the subject of the article Draft: Joel Platt is notable due to their curation of the largest sports collection which contains some of the world's most historical sports artifacts, not just for meeting notable individuals. see Draft: Sports Immortals Collection
any additional assistance in constructing the article is appreciated.

Forres Sandle Manor - Notable School
Hi, thank you so much for your comments. Forres Sandle Manor is as notable if not more so than existing UK independent schools who have articles such as Moyles Court, Ballard School, Sherborne School, and Canford School.

Note the article includes the website of the Bolivian. Studies Journal, a book review from Hispania journal, an official list of past Toribio Medina prize winners from the SALALM website. Please have a professional librarian review the article. It appears the initial reviewer has very little knowledge regarding the administration of academic libraries. Makayla Malaka Draft.
Hello Theroadislong,
Trust this meets you well.
I appreciate your gesture of taking out time to comment on my draft, severally, I have taken out time to get independent sources for this subject, I was glad when I recently saw an independent source of the subject which is the last two references on my draft, there are three other references which pass for WP:GNG and I got approval for it by a Wikipedia editor.
Most importantly, these sources are from reliable Newspaper in West Africa. My major concern is why you keep saying it doesn't pass for a Wikipedia article, you've declined the article once and even before I resubmit the new one I have just drafted, I get to see your comment.
Please kindly explain how it doesn't pass for a Wikipedia article after getting independent sources to verify the authenticity of the subject. Thank you. Karissa 247 (talk) 10:43, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- It's not a question of " verifying the authenticity of the subject" you need to suggest how they pass WP:GNG or WP:NSINGER. Theroadislong (talk) 11:02, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
Greeny
Explain why you rejected my Greeny Phatom article Pddevlin041 (talk) 12:35, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- Pddevlin041 I declined your draft I did not reject it, the reason is given in the large pink box and IMDb and YouTube are not reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 12:38, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
Greenytoons
Greeny Phatom is a fairly obscure web cartoon despite its cult following so the most reliable source you can is tv tropes and the official sources are all inaccurate Pddevlin041 (talk) 13:21, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- Unless there are multiple reliable independent sources, we can't have an article about it. Theroadislong (talk) 13:23, 23 July 2022 (UTC)

Draft: Clare Snider Smith
So for the paper I am using for the Clare Snider Smith simply lists the countries and not the places or collections. It was written by either an Archivist or the Office of Advancement at Knox College. I wished to add where her work was found to have the article be accepted for her to be considered notable, but I do not have access to the information on where her works would be found outside of the country names. Kinetic exclusion assay page, history
Hi Theroadislong, It looks like you removed the history paragraph from the end of the page I created describing kinetic exclusion assay on 9/27/21 and also added a note that this page may be edited or created by an undisclosed paid contributer. I was paid to create the page but I disclosed that as soon as I understood I needed to, shortly after the page was created. The history section you removed is accurate and neutral, why did you delete it? Would you please put it back? Besides providing a more complete understanding of kinetic exclusion assay it also provides a direction for readers interested in learning more.
Also I would appreciate it if you would remove the note since I have disclosed that I was paid.
