Orphaned non-free media (File:TCF_four_finger_Logo.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:TCF_four_finger_Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 23:49, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hello The Compassionate Friends. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article The Compassionate Friends, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. - Happysailor (Talk) 12:25, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Happysailor, thanks for your email. I'm very confused, I've looked at other articles about charities and have tried to follow what they have done. I am a trustee of this charity but would have written it the same if I weren't, (I am only a volunter and so gain nothing from this position) Can you please give me some simple guidance on how I can change it to come into line with the rules. Or tell me which part is breaching the rules so I can remove them. The Compassionate Friends (talk) 13:36, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
I will be very grateful for any help.
- Firstly, I would look at a username change, as your current username implies you are editing for the organisation. Then I would take a look at WP:COI and also WP:NPOV first for information - Happysailor (Talk) 13:43, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, it's obvious now that you say. I there any way I can change my username ? (I have looked but can't see how). 94.194.68.120 (talk) 13:59, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Additionally, it appears your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest, though you may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text
{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
below this notice. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:47, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
The Compassionate Friends
[edit]Just had a quick look at the article you are creating and it's a good start. I would like to offer some suggestions though:
- Can you find any 3rd party reliable sources WP:RS & WP:V? for example coverage in newspapers or well-known magazines.
- At the moment it reads a bit like an advertisement for the organisation, try writing from a neutral point of view see WP:NPOV
- A lot of the content seems to be copy & pasted from [1] this is the biggest problem as Wikipedia doesn’t allow copyrighted material, unless released under an acceptable licence or permission has been gained from the copyright holder see: WP:IOWN (about half way down thae page) for more information on copyright policy’s see: WP:CFAQ & WP:C
If you have any questions or need some help then please ask at: WP:NUH. I hope that helps. --Wintonian (talk) 14:19, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Compassionate Friends, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. j⚛e deckertalk 17:01, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
