Recent edit to Alan Joyce (executive)
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Alan Joyce (executive), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! - Please do not re-add the material. The article you used as a source does not support what you wrote; and Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Cheers YSSYguy (talk) 06:00, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- I am not disputing the truthfulness of your claims. Why do you want the article about Alan Joyce to include information about the $100 fee? Feel free to answer here, I will keep an eye on this page. Cheers YSSYguy (talk) 08:22, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
I dont understand why you are standing in the way of the truth. Do you work for QANTAS ? It is a FACT that he has introduced these charges ($50 per trip ie 100 for a return flight) that apply to children and disabled passengers who require basic supervision (like children).
- I do not work for Qantas, if my choices were "work for Qantas or leave the industry", I would leave the industry. Yes, it is a fact that the charges have been introduced, as to whether it was Joyce himself that has done the introducing - well, that is unknown. The source you have used does not mention persons with disabilities, only Unaccompanied Minors. It doesn't mention Alan Joyce. So, the source does not support the material you added; that is synthesis on your part. Again I ask the question: Why do you want the article about Alan Joyce to include information about the $100 fee? YSSYguy (talk) 04:37, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
WTF ? He is the CEO of the company as you should bloody know. He announced these changes, so it is a fact that is entitled to be added to his page. What the hell is wrong with that ? The airline charged my family member this fee as well on the grounds of his disability and needing to be supervised on one of their planes. Its disgusting but it is also a fact and deserves to be published. Why are you stopping the truth being published ?
- Yes, I do bloody well know and I can assure you that I am no fan of his - I was supposed to fly QF to Europe on the day after he grounded the airline in 2011. But back to the point; your reasoning seems to be: "Qantas introduced the charge, Alan Joyce is the CEO of Qantas, therefore Alan Joyce introduced the charge". Unless you have a source that says that Joyce himself introduced the charge, Wikipedia policy prevents you from saying that he did in the article about him. If the source doesn't mention disabled persons, your edit cannot either - Wikipedia policy prevents you adding information based on your personal experience to any article. You must have a source that backs up what you write, you must not 'read between the lines', or infer, or assume, or interpret, or add what you 'know to be true'; I cannot put it more plainly than that. As for my earlier question "why", well, you still haven't answered, unless your answer is "because Qantas charged a hundred bucks extra for my family member to fly", in which case you are using the article for your own purposes - but that is not allowed either. Swearing at someone and being uncivil is also a big no-no. YSSYguy (talk) 07:08, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
