A tag has been placed on Draft:Anne De Zogheb, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on File:Andre Skaf.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://www.stctv.com/en/series/150171688366/Rejal%2520Al_Hara and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Control copyright icon Hello Thatsyrianitalian! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 16:50, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Andre Skaf. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:00, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In regard to this and other edits, please do NOT insert unverified and non-neutral content. We are an encyclopedia: keep it neutral. IMDB is not an acceptable source; years shouldn't be linked; I could go on--please acquaint yourself better with our guidelines and practices. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 00:53, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am not using IMDB. The list you removed, I got from the Syrian wikipedia page of Syrian film festivals. I'm still working on that page. That is still a draft, but, I'm gonna go over it again. Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 17:11, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I see--you copied an article on a film festival and just dumped it into a general article about cinema in Syria, where it is completely inappropriate. Hi, apologies for the edit summary (based on the discussions on your talk page), but not sure why you did this? Tropicalkitty (talk) 20:01, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Antoinette Najeeb is beautiful beautiful actress. But, when it comes to choosing pictures, you need to choose good ones. Like her in her prime, for example Gina Lollobrigida picture's is her when in her youth, but it's fine either way, didn't know it was wrong lol sorry. Let's see, like I said in the edit summary, in the lead alone, you have "trailblazing", "iconic", "pivotal", "renowned", "significant", "enduring legacy" and "indelible mark", all sourced to this which just says that he was famous. Similarly, in Adib Qaddoura, you said that he is a "sex symbol" or that he has some "unique ability" to make "facial expressions in three-dimensional shots", whatever that means, or that critics were "likening him to the Anthony Quinn of Syria", sourced to [1] which supports none of this (nor e.g. the whole symposium about him). Fram (talk) 16:52, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
this is the first time i hear this since no u didnt say it last time. i agree that trailblazing might be extra but how is iconic a fan pov? indelible mark yes indelible mark he was one of syrias first actors and helped shape the industry... yes adib was considered a sex symbol along side ighraa you can see it from his movie list... that he has some "unique ability" to make "facial expressions in three-dimensional shots", whatever that means, or that critics were "likening him to the Anthony Quinn of Syria" as u said i got it from a website about him and this text isnt from me.. what else? Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 17:46, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Anwar Al-Baba

[edit]

Hello Thatsyrianitalian. I see that you're in a dispute about maintenance tags on an article you started, Anwar Al-Baba. We appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, and these tags are not meant to be a comment on the quality of your work. These tags are part of Wikipedia's editorial system: they let other editors know when articles can be improved, or when there are problems that should eventually be fixed. It's important not to remove them unless you have dealt with the issue they're highlighting. For example, on this article:

  • Tone - there is a particular style and tone that we expect of Wikipedia articles, especially that they should be neutral. That means we write plain information, just the facts, and avoid peacock words (unnecessarily positive words like "brilliant", "legendary", "one of a kind"). You can click on the link here for some examples.
  • Unreliable sources - all information written in Wikipedia is expected to be verifiable by a citation to a reliable source. Reliable sources are published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and editorial oversight, like books, magazines, journals, and newspapers. Social media like Facebook are not reliable sources because anyone can write whatever they want on Facebook, and the same goes for most blogs and internet forums, and also other sites like Wikipedia where anyone can contribute. We also cannot use Wikipedia mirrors as reliable sources, because they are just copying what's already written on Wikipedia - that's called a circular reference.
  • Bare URLs - a good citation is formatted using our series of {{cite}} templates, which give the title of the source, its author and/or publisher, the date it was published and the date it was accessed, and sometimes other useful information. That helps locate the source in case the website goes offline, which is called link rot. A bare URL is a citation that is just a web address, and if the website goes offline then we lose all the information about the source. It's fine to use a bare URL as a source, but the tag lets others know that your citation needs to be fixed.

You can always ask questions about a tag that anyone puts on an article you started, you can use the talk page for that. If someone is tagging an article they're required to have a good reason, so you can just ask them. You shouldn't just remove a tag, though, unless you understand what the problem is and are sure that it has been fixed.

Also, please do not attack other editors. Saying things like "do you have no life?" is insulting to editors who are just trying to help. You must treat all other editors with dignity and respect - it is required by policy. If you continue making personal attacks, you will be blocked from editing.

Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 17:14, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

i really do mean because all my pages are the same as others i write in a simple tone you can tell me to change what and what or if it bothers u that much u could help change it and not mark my pages without telling me where the wrong is lol Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 18:47, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Andre Skaf has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hoax

[edit]
Stop icon

Please do not create, maintain or restore hoaxes on Wikipedia, as you did at Anwar Al-Baba. If you are interested to know how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements already in Wikipedia – and, if possible, correct them. Please do not disrupt Wikipedia. Continued disruption will be met with sanctions, which could include a block from editing. Feel free to take a look at the five pillars of Wikipedia to learn more about this project and how you can contribute constructively. Thank you. Canterbury Tail talk 13:52, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You added that he's the father of two people when their articles are quite clear that he isn't, and in fact they have different fathers. Canterbury Tail talk 13:52, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you look again, I'm talking about Anwar's brother, who is the father of Soad Hosny and Nagat Al Saghira. Mohammad Hosny, a famous calligrapher, is their father." Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 16:59, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Elcinema

[edit]

You need to read reliable sources as you keep adding references to Elcinema which is clearly not a reliable source as it's a wiki that anyone can edit. As a result it cannot be used as a source. Thank you. Canterbury Tail talk 13:54, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Again you keep adding references, and material referenced, to Elcinema despite being told and it having been removed many times as a non-reliable source. If you continue to use unreliable sources this would be considered disruptive editing. Canterbury Tail talk 16:40, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can I ask how it isn't a reliable source? Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 17:01, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As already explained in my first post, it's an open wiki anyone who registers can edit. Canterbury Tail talk 19:06, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay? It's like saying Wikipedia itself isn't reliable. Plus, I agree it isn't the best option, but it's all true, since it matches with all other sources I see... Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 01:00, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, Wikipedia is not reliable and cannot be used as a source. And it's not just not the best option, it simply can't be used and is against WP:RS. Canterbury Tail talk 03:52, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

LLMs

[edit]

Hello. I was reading the discussion about your editing on WP:ANI and I wanted to suggest that you read WP:LLM. While using large language models to communicate on Wikipedia is not currently against policy, it's largely discouraged, patently obvious to readers, and likely to make arguments unpersuasive. — Matuko (talk) 16:35, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much! Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 16:56, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Do not remove maintenance templates, such as those asking for references

[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Wikipedia. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Thank you. Also, I have been using Wikipedia for so long, and I have never ever seen someone saying you need sources for filmography, like do I need a source for every film or drama, she's been in, she has over 150... Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 13:26, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article Andre Skaf has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails notability guidelines; no GNG passable sources, and no indication of WP:NACTOR

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Anwar Al-Baba moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Anwar Al-Baba. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and those sources need to be reliable and independent of the subject. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 02:53, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You got my page deleted and for what? I had many sources to back up my claims. And, came back now to add more. The page doesn't exist anymore, and I don't have a copy. Thank you!
For you, some sources... https://www.google.ae/books/edition/I_fasci_italiani_all_estero_bollettino_d/FC17HSQAUVUC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=italianni+aleppo&pg=RA46-PA14&printsec=frontcover

And even found that the most decorated soldier of the Royal Italian Army during World War II, was Francesco De Martini, who was born in Damascus to an Italian father and a Syrian mother. This page deserves to be made! Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 17:38, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Abdel Latif Fathy

[edit]

Hello Thatsyrianitalian, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Abdel Latif Fathy, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abdel Latif Fathy.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SafariScribe}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
