Llengua pròpia

[edit]

Dear Taurus Littrow,

I am aware that the right translation of llengua pròpia was already discussed. What I meant was that perhaps changing it to official language is not entirely appropriate, for Spanish is also official in spite of not having the status of llengua pròpia. It is for this reason that I would remove official language as a translation for the term.

On the other hand, own language is broken English. If you are OK with it, I think that both own language and official language should be removed from the footnote you added - for the reasons just mentioned, I do not think either of them is a good way to translate llengua pròpia.

Best wishes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)

Hi again! I believe there is a confusion here. Please read carefully my comments in the edit history.
First, in the lead (The Valencian Community's 1982 Statute of Autonomy and the Spanish Constitution recognise Valencian as the official language (along with Spanish) in the Valencian Community.), we're not talking about "llengua pròpia" but rather about "llengua oficial".
Secondly, as far as my note is concerned, in the "Official status" section (which does speak about "llengua pròpia" this time), I agree that "own language" is broken English (I added it because it was used on the talk page). I'll remove it, sure. Also, I see no "official language" in the note. The adjectives used there are proper, own, native and regional. Best regards.
