Utah I-15 and I-70 maps
Hey Strat, on the two maps mentioned above, what projection did you use for these? Needed so I can switch the I-80 and I-84 maps just created. Thanks! 25or6to4 (talk) 17:59, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, it was one of the Utah State Plane projections, there isn't much difference between the north, central and south versions (or east central west), they both are pretty similar at the state level scale. Strato|sphere 18:37, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Wacker Drive Map
Thanks for the Wacker Drive Map. Prairie Avenue, Historic Michigan Boulevard District, Borman Expressway and Rush Street (Chicago) could use your expertise.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 21:16, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hiya. You may wish to post this request at WP:USRD/MTF/R. I've kind of retired from the map gig, I just lack the time anymore. Cheers. Strato|sphere 00:26, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Request
If you wouldn't mind could you make maps for List of county routes in Rockland County, New York (1-38) and List of county routes in Rockland County, New York (41-75) like you did for List of county routes in Rockland County, New York (76-118A)? It would be greatly appreciated, and its been awhile since I've requested my last map :p! Thanks in advance. -Airtuna08 (talk) 05:41, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Heya. Sorry but I'm pretty much retired. Those county route maps take a long time to make because the data usually isn't tagged as CR XX and you have to figure out what roads are what. It took me a good two or three hours for Mitch last time. Time which I am lacking. I'd try the MTF even though I see its a bit sluggish there. Good luck. Strato|sphere 00:15, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
USRD participants list
As discussed at WT:USRD, the participants list at WP:USRD is being split by state. Due to any of the following factors- your extended participation in WT:USRD discussions, your IRC participation, or your extended participation in Shields or Maps, I have guessed that you are a nationwide editor and have designated you as such in the USRD partiicpants table. This is part of the lengthy process. If this is in error, please let me know immediately. This is especially likely with this group as I have to guess whether you are a national or a state editor. Concur (cyan) color
Does concur even need to be highlight in light-blue? Because when you switch back my changes you left concur as plain text without colors. I don't have problem with keeping the color; because honestly nobody sincerely cares about colors this much. Some people likes concur cyan colors to be abolish, as we had discussion of this in past, when people does not want concur colors.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 01:45, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Archive 13--Freewayguy Call? Fish 01:51, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I remember that. There was a lean towards using no colors and a notes based table. If that's the case you wish to proceed with, I don't have an issue. Just be sure, if you're removing the concurrency colors, that there's a note in the notes column indicating that it is a concurrency. Strato|sphere 01:56, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Making Bots
I think I need to operate bot to throw out all of those colors all at once, so I don't have to go through every page and take off colors one by one. Whats the step to operate a bot?--Freewayguy Call? Fish 03:12, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
BUS US 41
do you think you could whip up a map for BUS US 41 in Marquette? I nominated the article at GAN. Imzadi1979 (talk) 22:15, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- I got a map, but now I've worked on User:Imzadi1979/Sandbox9 as my sandboxed version of U.S. Route 41 in Michigan which doesn't exist as a separate article yet. I'm down to needing mileposts and a length for it. Once I can get that info, I'll take the article out of my sandbox and put it live, with a DYK nomination to boot. I'm wondering if you can help out? Imzadi1979 (talk) 06:40, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- P.S. You might want to consider nominating Brockway Mountain Drive at FAC. ;-) Imzadi1979 (talk) 06:40, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Out of curiosity, is there a reason this image uses the FHWA D typeface for the number, as opposed to the old typeface as with the other cutouts? If not, I can fix it, but I at least wanted to make sure there wasn't a valid reason before I went ahead. —IW4UTC 22:37, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- It's probably because the road existed after the old typeface was discontinued in the 40s. Although, that would imply it should use a modern day shield since it existed until 2003. I probably used the latest font, but kept it on a cutout shield so it would be quickly identifiable as a historical route. Either way, it doesn't matter to me ;) Strato|sphere 21:32, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Catching Up
Greetings! I hope all is going well for you. I wanted to catch you up on what's been going on lately, et. al. If you could, please drop me a message, when you get a chance...either on my talk page, via e-mail or via AIM. Thanks! DanTheMan474 (talk) 01:43, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like it's been a busy time. I hope the new job's been working out, as well. I'm on the computer for a bit at work, and then spend a couple of hours every night on there, working on my various websites. All in all, it hasn't worked out too bad. We've had plenty of road developments, et. al., off WP, too. If you get a chance, either e-mail me or contact me via AIM (if you get back on), and I'll catch you up over there, if possible. DanTheMan474 (talk) 16:28, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- Strat - Hi! I just wanted to give you a heads up that we are finalizing details on a gathering of roads enthusiasts (including WP roads editors) up in Lansing on Saturday, 12/20. Drop me a line when you get an opportunity and I'll give you more details. Hope you'll be able to join us! DanTheMan474 (talk) 18:45, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

I-84 in NY map request
Hi. Do you think you could take the time to create a smaller version of this map showing and highlighting just the New York section, for the newly-created Interstate 84 in New York? Whenever you can. Daniel Case (talk) 20:18, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Welcome back!
You've been missed around here. Imzadi1979 (talk) 04:00, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Heh, thanks, it's not permanent. I was just bored. Speaking of which, I uploaded a photo to commons: Image:M-28 M-64 Duplex Near Lake Gogebic.JPG which you may want to use in the M-28 article. I already stuck it in the M-64 article. Strato|sphere 04:22, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Welcome back?
Are you coming back, even just part time? Up for co-nominating an article at FAC? Imzadi 1979 → 00:09, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- I wouldn't say I am back, just seeing what was up with the USRD project. Is there an article you are working on for FAC? I could be up for doing a little editing, more like part-part time. I'm a bit rusty with the Wikipedia lol. Good to see someone's keeping MISH in order ;) Strato|sphere 03:46, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Brockway Mountain Drive is basically ready for FAC. There's a rare book on the history of the road in either the historical library at CMU or the Library of Michigan. If I can gander though the dozen or so pages of the book (yeah, it's short) to make sure that no important details are left out, the article should be ready to get nominated. As for the rest of the state, every county in Michigan has at least one Good Article on a highway now. All of my hometown's highways are FAs, and I'm working on my current hometown. Imzadi 1979 → 03:51, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- La Vanway, Paul (2008). The Brockway Mountain Drive Story. OCLC 300074634. is the book. According to worldcat, UofM has copies as well. Imzadi 1979 → 03:58, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Wow, you've done a lot of work on that article! I don't know how much time I can devote to anything. If you give me some idea of what I might be able to help with I can let you know if I'll have time to do it. I've never worked on anything at FAC so I don't know what is involved. Strato|sphere 13:38, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Basically, it could use another set of eyes to proofread it, make sure that nothing obvious is wrong, misspelled or confusing. After that, the idea is to start the nomination and just plain respond to comments by reviewers. I can probably handle most of the comments that come through at the review, but I'd like your participation as a co-nominater all the same. You're the one that started the efforts that saved the article from deletion and build the foundation that I updated. You deserve credit when the article passes FAC. Imzadi 1979 → 16:54, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. I just called the Keweenaw County Road Commission to see if they can provide me with traffic/AADT data on the road which is probably about the only detail left out of the article at the moment. Imzadi 1979 → 17:10, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

So the article got a peer review, and all of the comments and suggestions have been addressed except two. (The google map when zoomed in clearly shows the landmarks and features along the western end.) Since you're the cartographer extraordinaire, could you work on the map comment? The reviewer would like to see a scale added to the map. While you're doing that, feel free to make a better inset than I did. I had just used one of the SVG locators maps and pasted it on top of the PNG in Illustrator and exported the results as a PNG. FAC reviewers are starting to request insets to help locate the map's location for those not familiar with sub-national US geography. Imzadi 1979 → 17:14, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have no GIS software or data at home anymore. I do it all day at work so I deleted it from home. I'm also a bit under the weather from my marathon storm chase in Iowa this weekend. To be blunt, I will probably never get around to working on the map since I'd have to do it at work, and that's a no-no. Sorry to disappoint, I just don't have the time or resources to do much on here anymore. Strato|sphere 01:34, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- No disappointment, I wanted to give you the option. Personally, I don't see a scale as necessary. If you're interested in co-nominating the article, let me know. Basically, we could wait for additional comments on the PR, or we could close the PR and skip direct to FAC. In the short term, all I would need is you to edit the FAC page to add a conomination statement. Beyond that, I can handle just about all of the comments that pop up, but of course you'd be free to make any changes you want as well. Imzadi 1979 → 01:50, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- Feel free to drop me an e-mail using the link on my user page if that's faster. Basically, I'm thinking that this weekend I'd be ready to nominate the article at FAC if no one else has commented on the PR. Imzadi 1979 → 15:55, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Michigan State Highway 77 Heading North
Hi Stratosphere
I'm putting together a website for a new nonprofit organization, I can email the address if you'd like. The goal of the group is to sponsor student competitions for Michigan infrastructure projects. I would like to use your photo of the Michigan State Highway 77 Heading North on the site and in our letterhead. I wanted to ask if it was permissible to you if we could use an adaptation of your photo in our stationery without an attribution, as long as we place an attribution on our website.
Thank You

Hope to see the full Interstate 49 map with the new section in Missouri soon! Night Tracks (talk) 07:28, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
I know you are semi-retired, but was wondering if I could get you to update the file description for File:Legacy Parkway map.png to include the GIS sources? Thanks! --AdmrBoltz 19:46, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hi! I have no idea what source I used for that image, I don't have the data anymore. More likely than not, however, I used GIS data from the State of Utah. They have a pretty robust GIS system at the state level here http://gis.utah.gov/ Strato|sphere 05:55, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Hey I didn't know if you could update the I-86 map, since it was extended in 2013. Also, since it is within view, could you also acknowledge the extended Interstate 99 and Interstate 376 on the maps as well? Figured I would ask since you are the original creator. Thanks! Jgera5 (talk) 21:29, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
I know that you are not very active on Wikipedia anymore. I just wanted to let you know that I requested a corrected map of the Taconic State Parkway because the route line extends a few miles too far south. If you could fix the map, that would be great, although I do not expect you to come out of retirement just for me. Thanks for reading this! PointsofNoReturn (talk) 23:05, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
Can you add the GIS source(s) for the map, so that if the article ever goes through ACR/FAC (unlikely, but still possible), then we have them already? Thanks! Imzadi 1979 → 03:35, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- Good lord, I had to look in help to remember how to indent lol. I added source info to that image, is that how it should be done? Strato|sphere 03:54, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- That works just fine. Anyone interested to know where the base information is from will know. Imzadi 1979 → 05:12, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- A bit belated, but good to see you around! --Rschen7754 21:06, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

US 75 Nebraska
I don't know what your intentions are with taking US 75 any higher, but if you do, I have some friendly suggestions. As a group, USRD has refined the framework of a decent article since you were previously active. I don't know how well you kept up with things, so I'll try to keep it short. Plus, I wrote the continuation of your route U.S. Route 75 in Iowa!
- Double the lead. It doesn't mention the history section at all, so summarize that and we're good to go.
- Section leads. Three or four sentences before the first third-level header that summarizes what you're going to talk about or stuff that doesn't quite fit into a subsection.
- Why did US 75 jump the river in 1984? You can borrow heavily from the Iowa article for this. Personally, I think this alone should be its own paragraph (not because I wrote the Iowa article); it is a fairly major change to the route.
- Destination cities in the junction list. Street View has improved enough that we can see what the little green signs say, though I haven't checked US 75 very closely.
Anyway, I hope this helps. I'm trying (not very hard) to get the Iowa article through ACR and ultimately to FAC, so I think it'd be neat to have these two articles link up. –Fredddie™ 22:57, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hey Fredddie! Thanks for the tips. I'll take a look at your suggestions and review the good article criteria at WP:USRD and work on it over the next week or two and see where it goes. Strato|sphere 03:35, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
- I would recommend newspaper articles if there are any. They give out free accounts to Wikipedia:Newspapers.com and Wikipedia:Newspaperarchive.com to established Wikipedians nowadays, if your local library doesn't have good subscriptions. --Rschen7754 06:04, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
- oh, nice! I didn't know that. I was just looking at an article on there yesterday but didn't have an account. Thanks! Strato|sphere 06:12, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
