I think the svg version still needs work. All of the white areas on the logo are enlarged. It misrepresents the gif (accurate) version of the logo. Pats1 T/C 19:04, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would say the 18:08, 14 November 2009 is better. The letters need to be smaller than what they currently are. Pats1 T/C 02:12, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind, it was a cache issue on my end that made a previous version appear. Your latest version is the best. Pats1 T/C 02:14, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think it matches the original .gif now. I think I had the same cache problem when I updated it once. I appreciate the input along the way. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 21:36, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations!

Appreciation

[edit]

I appreciate you making these svg images, but please be careful about what tags you place on them. Every time you use a FUR template to show the source information, it is tagged as a fair use image. There are bots that go around taking these images out of articles without FURs. Since the two images I'm talking about weren't copyrightable (Syracuse and Houston), they could potentially be removed from hundreds of articles and user pages requiring a lot of effort to fix.

Once again, thanks for the improvements to the images! If you need any help on other images, let me know. — BQZip01 — talk 21:05, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The PD-textlogo and Trademarked tags should only be used in lieu of copyright notices and FURs in the cases mentioned in their rationales, but basicly anything not eligible for copyright (text, simple geometric shapes, and a few others as well as uncopyrightable images (like PD images)). — BQZip01 — talk 23:45, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Either the images are copyrighted or they are not. They can't be both. Please make sure you are correctly tagging images. — BQZip01 — talk 01:41, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the attempt at Everton's league progress. The fonts got messed up, so I'll have to look at that again. I thought you might be interested.

Just saw your post on "his" talkpage....it's definitely vandalism; I noticed it from the change of Toosey First Nation to Roland First Nation, and had a look at his user contributions and found many similar. This user should be blocked immediately, and all edits made by him/her reversed.Skookum1 (talk) 17:42, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That seems clear to me as well, just wanted to try to give a good faith warning. Also, I don't know how to revert a moved page and I don't know who to approach to request a block. Can you help with that? Strafpeloton2 (talk) 17:47, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try and think of a suitable admin, I'm still coffeeing up; there is an administrator's noticeboard out there, which is a central clearinghouse for things like this, can't remember its exact Wiki address/title right now....Skookum1 (talk) 17:57, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
NB he/she has said they will stop.....but that they started in the first place is the point; not to be trusted as re promises about stopping; also note his/her post at the bottom of my talkpage (which I've added a suitable subject heading for, since he/she didn't bother).Skookum1 (talk) 18:00, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted the moves. Thanks for the help. The ironic thing is that he/she started contributing by reverting vandalism. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 18:04, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Vandals do all kinds of strange things....I found the administrator's noticeboard, q.v..Skookum1 (talk) 18:24, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help today, Skookum. I learned something new! Strafpeloton2 (talk) 04:12, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice job spotting that - The vandal has now been blocked and it looks like the vandal page moves have been fixed. Not that you did anything wrong or anything, but for future reference or whatever, Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, or WP:AIV for short, would be the place to go to report obvious vandalism like the kind you saw. The noticeboards work too, but you'll generally get a wonk yelling at you to go to AIV instead. AIV is also usually the faster way to get someone blocked, as searching out individual admins means hoping that they are online at the moment. AlexiusHoratius 01:45, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That was my first case viewing something like that. I wrote the warning to Hibe3000 and then tried to find what to do next. It was a learning experience and now I know where to go in a similar situation. Thanks to you and Skookum1. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 04:08, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Qwest Field

Nice work.Cptnono (talk) 09:37, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot. I thought the article was really good and I hope it becomes an FA. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 19:27, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Cptnono, btw, was editing it the right thing to do? I mean, because it is an FAC. I'm not familiar with the standard procedures. I found some things I could improve, so I did. I figured you'd change things that didn't help it anyway. For example, does the part about Kingdome I added to the Seahawks section go there? In general, should I have sent you message? or left comments on the nomination page as if I was a real editor/reviewer person? Strafpeloton2 (talk) 21:06, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. It received multiple support votes before the restart. It failed the FA due to the writing needing clean up. My original focus was reworking the copy and paste from a couple websites several months ago and then it turned into becoming thorough coverage. Admittedly, getting good sources was more of my focus than quality writing. Having someone with the patience to fix my mistake is awesome! Your work while it was under FA made it look that much better.Cptnono (talk) 09:13, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It looked like it was in pretty good shape for "copy and paste from a couple of websites." I will try to find a little time to see if I can further improve it. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 21:20, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. That wasn't what I meant. Originally, some editors had simply taken the "about us" like page and a couple stories. Thanks again for the tweaks. It makes a huge difference.Cptnono (talk) 23:02, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Badass. Thanks for another round. Feel free to do even more if you see concerns. Cptnono (talk) 12:41, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for all of the copyediting. Feel free to support or oppose if you lean either way.
In regards to an image of a copyright image (taking a picture of CD cover for example), I am positive I saw this discussed previously and it isn't OK. I don't recall where the guideline is but will try to find it. I know some about images so let me know if you need a hand with something in particular.Cptnono (talk) 02:20, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info on the images. I of course support the article. But is it conflict of interest to support it at FAC as I am now the tied-for-second-most editor of the article? (I'm thinking of spending this coming weekend just adding and erasing periods so I can pass you though...watch out!) Strafpeloton2 (talk) 01:05, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh didn't realize. Nice work!Cptnono (talk) 03:08, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And I stumbled upon Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright#Derivative works. From my experience it is easy enough to write a FUR for an album cover on its article and other things like that. I have also seen posters OKd in articles as critical commentary but then it starts getting a little touchy. Let me know if you have something in particular.Cptnono (talk) 10:31, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome! Thank you for sticking with it and the copy editing. There is no way it would have passed without you.

Do you want all of the passive writing gone? I think it fits better in some instances. ceranthor 18:36, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that all the passive doesn't have to go. Sometimes the subject of the sentence isn't important. There were some bad spots earlier, especially in the lead. It's better now, but I'll give it another look later. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 05:30, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Major Sports by States

[edit]

So I saw the image you posted (link below) and spotted an error. Oregon now has 2 professional team now. The Portland Trailblazers and the Portland Timbers. The Timbers were added to the MLS in 2011 and are currently in their second season.

Thank you :D

Based on that article, "major teams" are the "Big Four" of baseball, basketball, hockey and football. The map you linked is based on those. The Timbers (MLS) are one of the "Big 6" from that article and don't fit the "Big Four" classification. The "Big 6" map is included in the article too, and is also here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Big6_teams_by_state_province.svg. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 21:02, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Volleyball pool

[edit]

Hey, it's pretty easy. You win 3-0/3-1 you get 3 points the others 0. A 3-2 gives the winner 2 and the loser 1 point. The tiebreaker is points and then setsratio, pointsratio if i'm right. Any more question, feel free to ask. Beachvolleyball is just 2 points for a win and 1 for a loss. ;) Kante4 (talk) 16:41, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see. That makes sense. Thanks. Do you have a ref for that? I can add it if you want. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 17:11, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The fivb.org site i guess. That's the way it goes since 2-3 year i think. About the tiebreaker the same. ;) Kante4 (talk) 18:04, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good. ;) Kante4 (talk) 19:16, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I found refs for both indoor and beach volleyball and added them in both competitions. Thanks for clarifying for me. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 19:19, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, and it looks pretty good, thanks. Kante4 (talk) 19:33, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the DYK template didn't quite take. I think this may be because you didn't close the wikilink on the comment line, and this prevented the template substitution from taking place. Perhaps if you were to edit the template again, adding the closing "]]" to that wikilink for the article which this one comes from, the edit will work properly. Be sure to Preview to make sure it works before saving it. Thanks! BlueMoonset (talk) 01:31, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, thank you! I've been staring at that trying to figure out what I did wrong. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 01:40, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed it wasn't right, but I thought the DYK would magically convert the weird format that I saw. I just figured it was something with the "subst:" thing at the beginning of the template that I didn't understand. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 01:50, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It took me a few minutes to figure it out: the template looked okay to me at first glance, but Preview said not. When I finally noticed the missing brackets, I did a Preview to see if that did the trick, and discovered that the template thought that I was the nominee. Needless to say, I didn't save it: this was your nomination, and you deserved the credit. Hope the rest of the nomination process goes more smoothly. Thanks for the barnstar. :-) BlueMoonset (talk) 02:07, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering why you didn't just do it yourself. Thanks for leaving me the official nomination. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 02:11, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

signaling versus signalling

[edit]

Hi

If an article has been written in English English rather than American English then the English spelling should prevail. In the UK we generally spell signalling with two lls.

thanks WeigelaPen (talk) 12:57, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you're referring to a signaling pathway. Due to WP:CONSISTENCY, I chose one "l" because Wikipedia:WikiProject Cell Signaling also has only one "l". I don't think signaling pathway articles have strong national ties so that wouldn't suggest British or American English. One "l" is also the way I see it more in the literature (compare [1] with [2]). But I wouldn't say I'm the authority on it. Maybe you could bring it up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cell Signaling. Strafpeloton2 (talk) 13:47, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Flag of Sioux Falls, South Dakota

[edit]

On 5 August 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Flag of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the pinkish-red portion of the Flag of Sioux Falls (pictured) represents the Sioux Quartzite stone which was quarried nearby and used to build early Sioux Falls buildings? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Flag of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Flag of Sioux Falls, South Dakota), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK for Flag of Duluth, Minnesota

[edit]

On 27 September 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Flag of Duluth, Minnesota, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the flag of Duluth, Minnesota (pictured), has an award-winning simple design, but still represents eight things including Lake Superior, the North Woods, and three city hills? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Flag of Duluth, Minnesota. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Flag of Duluth, Minnesota), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
