Information icon Hello, I'm Bcschneider53. Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your effort to restore the drivers lists in NASCAR Heat 2, but this kind of thing isn't really notable enough for an encyclopedia, especially when it's unsourced. Please refrain from re-adding it. Thank you. Bcschneider53 (talk) 23:05, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making controversial changes that have already been discussed on the article's talk page, as you did at NASCAR Heat 2, without first establishing consensus on the talk page. Your edits appear to have gone against established consensus and have been reverted. 47.208.20.130 (talk) 01:36, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:11, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I had been asked to disambiguate links after creating a dab page at Richard Petty Motorsports, but I see you've split the Evernham article and moved the content there (which is totally cool and appreciated). Do you think you could help me undo some of what I had already disambiguated? I don't think I can use a script for it like I could to disambiguate them. -"Ghost of Dan Gurney" 04:11, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited David Higgins (rally driver), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mark Higgins. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Flag of None

[edit]

Hi. Can you please stop using the "flag of none" on entries with a driver TBA. Flags should only be used when there is a reason to. A reason to use Flag of None includes the situation with Alex Albon in Formula 1; it was not known which flag he will use for a short time. A blank entry has no reason to use any flag. -"Ghost of Dan Gurney" 17:27, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Kory Enders

[edit]

Hello, SteeledDock541,

Thank you for creating Kory Enders.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

While this driver has competed in the Indy 500, this article needs more references to satisfy general notability. What is needed are references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide. You may also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion. Kindly do the needful. Thank you.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jacob Douglas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Avoiding cut-and-paste moves

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Indy Lights a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Indy NXT. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 16:13, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I will add that such a move would he against consensus. Please see the talk page for the article in question.- "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (work / talk) 20:00, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Mac Clark. Thanks! Robert McClenon (talk) 01:56, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, so Mario Silvas copied the content from Draft:Mac Clark a few days ago and pasted it into a new page in the article space called Mac Clark instead of submiting the draft for review. So, now there are two pages about Mac Clark, one in the article space, and one in the draft space. I'm not sure how this is supposed to be resolved, if at all. Thanks! Template:IndyCar Series: Revision history

[edit]

Hi, please provide reasoning as to why you've made major changes like this without getting consensus? To me having the former teams linked on every page don't make sense, and the old template was more timely for the current season. Esw01407 (talk) 21:16, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you view the template from the teams individual page, it's broke. You've linked it wrong in the template. The view, talk, and edit links are all broken. Esw01407 (talk) 21:33, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have fixed the view, talk, edit links, so they should work now.

As for the edits, having a IndyCar teams template contain the teams as well as the IndyCar Series template containing the same information did not make sense. If you look at other Motorsports series' templates such as the Template:FIA World Endurance Championship and the Template:FIA World Endurance Championship teams, you can see that they have different information on each template. I can revert the edits to the Template:IndyCar Series if you would like. SteeledDock541 (talk) 02:24, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I would, I as I feel it's former style is much more useful. Esw01407 (talk) 03:38, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I have reverted my edits to the IndyCar Series template. My apologies for making these changes before discussing it first.
One question I have out of curiosity is why is there an "Other drivers" section in the template? Couldn't you have all the drivers that raced for the teams in the teams section?
Also, I will be adding a discussion about potential updates that could be made to the template in the talk page soon, so please feel free to engage in the discussion. SteeledDock541 (talk) 16:54, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've replied to the discussion, also why other drivers was to keep the current drivers section clean, and as a quick reference to drivers/teams not running near a full season or are out of a ride. Esw01407 (talk) 23:45, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

JTG Daugherty and Carlin

[edit]

The more I think about it, the more I see parallels between JTG Daugherty Racing and Carlin. They've both had their primary owners/namesakes depart the team, have had new investors come in, and have had a complete rebranding in the face of their new investments.

Should we not just be making a new article at Hyak Motorsports? I think this would be the simplest way to deal with this situation and gives us two articles, similar to how we now have two articles for Carlin Motorsport and Rodin Motorsport. ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 17:11, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean and do agree with some aspects about it. Plus you can compare Richard Petty Motorsports and Legacy Motor Club and see a similar situation there. Maury Gallagher purchased a majority state in RPM and then with Jimmie Johnson evolved into LMC.
The problem I have is that if you look at Hyak's twitter when they announced the rebrand (link), they say "Same Team. New Name. New Era." So I'm not sure if that would contradict the idea of separating the two articles even though Hyak has a new ownership group. SteeledDock541 (talk) 18:43, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair point. We could always split out a new article later, if the sources warrant it, like you did with Carlin. ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 18:59, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
True. If you want, you can post your proposal on the talk page to see what others think. I personally am unsure because it has its pros and cons. Seeing what other people think might help in my opinion. SteeledDock541 (talk) 19:41, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think you could revert that move? I'm concerned that it was a WP:BADNAC due to the closer !voting then reverting before closing how they voted, thus making the close a non-impartial WP:SUPERVOTE. I've brought this up to the closer and asked them to revert so someone more experienced can close. ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 00:27, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok. I see that you've already done it, but I wasn't aware of it falling under WP:BADNAC. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask! SteeledDock541 (talk) 13:24, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
