Ringgold Street
[edit]Hey Stax, I saw a street in my hometown today called Ringgold and thought of ya. Just wondering how things are going with Cheers and what help you need. I'd be glad to do a copyedit later tonight, or whatever. By the way, have you seen the new reference style at Symphony No. 5 (Beethoven)? I hope to be adding it to The West Wing article soon. Let me know what you need. I am very very much in debt to you for all of your help on The West Wing FAC. — Scm83x talk 00:59, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- P.S. - What do you think of my new signature? — Scm83x talk 00:59, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- I completed part of the copyedit; I just have post-Cheers to go. I'm sorry it took so long. For some reason I have trouble finding time to Wiki when I'm at home, as opposed to at school. Let me know when you're ready for FAC, I'll try to be as much of a help as you were to me. — Scm83x talk 21:46, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
You recently blanked this page, on checking ready for cleanup, I noticed that there are 20 or so links to that page, so I have reverted it back to its previous incarnation. Also I think a search on the page name is appropriate, rather than having to enter first, second, third etc. MNewnham 22:04, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Cheers and List of Eagle Scouts
[edit]Thanks for two things: the vote on History of merit badges (Boy Scouts of America) and the prompt fix of the Cheers reference. I changed my vote to support for Cheers. Speaking of refs, I was wondering if you could do me a favor. I've been working on the refs for List of Eagle Scouts for almost two hours. I got the caret, a, b part to work, but can not get it to number sequentially in the footnotes section; despite the fact they number correctly in the text section. Would you consider looking at this and seeing if it's fixable? I'm sure there's a way, I just haven't figured it out. I was working this when the new msg alert popped up for your msg. Rlevse 18:43, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- The article I was working on just now was the List of Eagle Scouts one. It has 3 multiple refs that are close in the text. There is only one ref before it and none after it (right now at least). The MB article has multiple refs (but different pages), so I hadn't touched those.Rlevse 18:50, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! I knew it was going to be something simple (just a line between the footnotes, huh?). Would you be interested in the Scouting article improvement we're starting on? If so, add yourself to the "Interested Wikipedians" section of: User_talk:Gadget850/BSA_article_improvements And anyone else that you many know of. Rlevse 18:56, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Cheers inline citations
[edit]Sometimes I think I pay too much attention to detail, but I'd like to know if you would mind if I change the inline citations in Cheers so that they appear after punctuation, for example,[1] like this.[2] A minor issue, but one that bothers me for some reason. I don't think that it's formally stated anywhere as an expectation, but it seems that this is generally the way it is done. I thought I'd check with you first though before making the change. --Spangineer (háblame) 17:20, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your comments on my FAC for Bob McEwen. I've added the footnotes as you suggested and I'd be grateful for your vote of support. PedanticallySpeaking 17:26, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Cheers for Cheers!
[edit]Congratulations on your successful nomination of Cheers to featured article status. I am happy to be the first one to congratulate you, and also the first person to award you a barnstar. Certainly both are extremely well-deserved. May both be the first in a long line of the same. I look forward to working with you in the future, as always. Congratulations, James. — Scm83x talk 09:07, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:KiranaGharanaTree1.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:KiranaGharanaTree1.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 06:37, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
I can definitely help you out with the article. My alma maters's article, Plano Senior High School, is currently the featured article of the month at the Portal, so I guess Harro5 (talk · contribs) thinks I know a thing or two about editing school article ;-). I'd be glad to help this weekend, after homework and career fair. How is the college application process going, btw? — Scm83x talk 04:20, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, James. I know I still have to get around to that copyedit of the Hopkins article, but I wanted to give you this little gem that I found here. Apparently, we've written the best US high school articles on Wikipedia. Congratulations! I'll do the copyedit this weekend, now that tests are done. — Scm83x talk 11:13, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Hopkins PR
[edit]Greetings, Stax!
I've looked at the Hopkins School article and posted comments on the peer review page. I probably come off sounding very harsh there, but I don't mean to be. I've gotten a number of my articles through this process (e.g. Katie Holmes, Tom Brinkman, Helen Gandy) so I'd like to think I'm familiar with the usual objections there. You have a very solid foundation for a FA, its just not there yet. Let me know if I can help again. PedanticallySpeaking 17:54, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:CBSSundayMorningLogo1.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:CBSSundayMorningLogo1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.

[edit]Hi there - unfortunately, the 'fair use' fencing images in your personal gallery will have to be deleted unless they are used in an article. Also, someone has listed the remaining images in your gallery at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images since your 'permission required' terms are not compatible with Wikipedia. (see {{permission}}) You need to release the images under a free license or they will have to be deleted. If you have any questions about this, please contact me. -SCEhardT 03:50, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
