[edit]

Thank you for adding the image to the Eleonora's_Falcon article. I couldn't leave it with the Kestrel pic but haven't quite got my wiki-fu up to scratch to figure out how to do the images Arpz (talk) 09:43, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Original Barnstar
Its good to see that you have put the work in to bring the B1110, B1145, B1149 and B1436 articles up to standard, and have essentially saved them from deletion. Your work should now be considered a precedent for good quality B road articles in future. jenuk1985 (talk) 20:07, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And I hope our problems in the past can now be put behind us jenuk1985 (talk) 20:07, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Just a little note to let you know I'll be concentrating on finishing off some of the very poor South Norfolk articles left over from a year or so ago - I also wondered what your direction is as I noticed that you have just joined the rivers project and that might be good as it means infrastructure, inc roads, has been covered by your work so far - which I admire I must say.

I assume you know that the Norfolk page was up for being moved, as well as being demoted and being in a pretty bad state. I also found that it has been chopped up a lot and that there is far more detail on the smaller towns pages than on the Norfolk page itself. I found that there did not seem to be a hierarchy of linking, so that when I tried to link to things like the North Norfolk coast, the page was pretty empty.

Anyway, after looking at your edits I can see that you mainly do North Norfolk. Can I ask you to get together so I can see what your approach is and whether we have some sort of way to go forwards with getting the whole of Norfolk up to the same standard for each sub division, town, village and then individual items, as well as making sure it is all presented in a similar manner.

For example I notice there is a Castle Acre page and the Rougham link is broken. Thats the sort of thing I would like to approach you about as you seem very active, what do you suggest - as the page doesn't exist, should we make one for village, the Hall, the airfield and the airfield tower museum ?

I have started to compile a list of pages but I need to know where to look for complete lists of what has been covered, what needs working on and what need serious looking at. I'm using Google Earth markers to keep track of where the Norfolk pages are up to at the moment, and I'm going to assume that everything north of a line from Yarmouth through Norwich to Nordelph/Upton has been thoroughly covered by you.

I cannot find a project devoted to Norfolk and that is one thing I would like to discuss. I need to know things like what tags are in use and available etc.

If you have time I propose some sort of chat, either in sandbox or on msn or similar - I have started to find out whats going on,and made a list but it only covers the main towns and villages and I can see that you and others have already gone much deeper than that ! Good work BTW !

Hope to chat soon--Chaosdruid (talk) 01:53, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply and for those links etc.
I have already made a start on the Norfolk page, and will hopefully get back onto Norwich soon, trying to go down the list in order of town size first, then over to notable places like Castle Acre etc. (although that one seems pretty well done)
It may be that a user group is necessary to keep track of everything going on, rather than as a useful group, but I did toy with the idea of "Norfolk and Suffolk" and then "East Anglian", but that gets a bit too wide reaching
I'll keep plowing through them and get back to you soon hopefully, was a bit busy with some F1 pages that were up for GAR but those are mostly saved from demotion now so should have some time free --Chaosdruid (talk) 23:48, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Beeston Hill

[edit]

Hi Stavros1, The latest edit does not read well too many ands maybe something like this... 'Beeston Hill, or Beeston Bump as it is known locally, is a cliff-top hill which overlooks the sea and village, at 63 metres high it is the dominating feature of the parish.' I`ll leave it up to you. all the best --palmiped |  Talk  22:44, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New project proposal - Norfolk & Suffolk

[edit]

Hi

I have proposed a new project "Wikiproject Norfolk & Suffolk" and would appreciate any support that I can get for getting this through.

I did think of making it a task force, but that would limit action as it would have to belong to a parent.

Many thanks--Chaosdruid (talk) 04:38, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cromer

[edit]

Hi! Last weekend I finally made it to Cromer, saw the museum, the pier, the current lifeboat house etc - absolutely brilliant! I see why you have been writing with such enthusiasm about this topic area. What a nice place! Cheers DisillusionedBitterAndKnackered (talk) 21:58, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I am so glad you enjoyed your visit to Cromer. Can I just ask on behalf of the RNLI Henry Blogg Museum that you reduce the resolution of the images you have published from the museum? At the moment the policy of the museum is to allow photographs for private use only. Permission is required for publishing images. The RNLI is beginning to look at selling images of paintings etc in the collections to raise funds for the charity. The painting of the Monte Nevoso is very impressive and we may be able to help fund the museum (and maintain free admissions)or save lives at sea with money raised. Thank you for all your work researching and illustrating the story of the Monte Nevoso. Best Regards Museum Buff (talk) 15:10, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Norfolk project

[edit]

Hi

As yet not too much progress - I had to take a week and half out to go and see family and on returning have been dogged with a persistent eye infection which has kept me out of action for two weeks due to the light sensitivity

I should be back this week though and hope to get things moving once this infection has gone away

cheers--Chaosdruid (talk) 12:02, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:RMS Carinthia.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:RMS Carinthia.JPG. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:23, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've expanded the article a bit. I notice that all the sources you used are books. Nothing wrong with that, but do remember that there is also the internet. The article would probably sit better at Alf (barque), per WP:NC-S, what do you think? Mjroots (talk) 08:16, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Empire Raymond

[edit]

Hi, I take it you're intending to create this article. ST Cervia would be a better title, no need to dab by ship type in this case as I doubt there was another tug named Cervia. You'll find some info on the Plimsoll Ship Data website (link on my user page) which can be usefully incorporated into the article. Mjroots (talk) 19:41, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If there are two ships with the same name, then disambiguation is by year of launch, with a non-disambiguated title serving as a shipindex page - e.g. SS Lesbian. Mjroots (talk) 05:46, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 20:53, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Essentially, the creator of a monument still has rights in a photo of the monument, because it is a derivative work. This makes such a photo non-free. There are exceptions to this rule in certain countries, when the sculpture is located in a public place. Unfortunately, France has no such exception (see commons:COM:FOP). In fact, many images have been deleted for this exact reason--yours is not the only one. If you can show that the monument is in the public domain (for example, because it was created before 1923), however, the image can be undeleted. Orphaned non-free media (File:Rigoberto Soler Self-Portrait.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Rigoberto Soler Self-Portrait.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Infobox hotel

[edit]

Hello. Thanks for your note. Consensus is the way we work, and you'll see previous discussions on the talk page where the concerns over including ratings are outlined. There is harm in keeping it in the template’s syntax because it attracts unsubstantiated crap. A reader should be able to get an understanding of what quality and facilities a hotel may have from reading the referenced body of an article. Cheers, --Skeezix1000 (talk) 18:06, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
