Battle of Vukovar

[edit]

Please don't make arbitrary changes to numerous referenced sentences that may well make the text deviate from the cited sources, particularly not on a featured article such as Battle of Vukovar. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 07:05, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I was aiming to clarify. One point needs to remain in place though, it doesn't make sense to argue that Serbs attacks non-Serbs but Croats attacked Serbs. Either they both attack each other or they both aim at all non-members. Enough sources testify to these things and anyhow, both organizations caused some harm to non-sympathizers from the "other minorities" as well as having had support/volunteering from them. Apart from that, I'm okay with the remainder of your revert, I believed it good to explain JNA transition from mult-ethnic to Serb/Montenegrin-dominated. No question the source would explain my point in detail but I was wishing to explain simple points for the lay audience. Staro Gusle (talk) 07:12, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please feel free to refer to a better source that uses the phrasing that you think is more common. Your claim that it's an either-or situation cannot be implicitly true. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 07:48, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the other response paragraph you left on my talk page: If the listed source described the entity as "extreme nationalist", and it's a reliable source, then that's perfectly suitable for the article. In the particular case, the sentence about HSP being extreme nationalist is supported by the reference that can be verified at Google Books where it says "led by the neo-Nazi Dobrosav Paraga". You should dispute that source as opposed to arbitrarily changing what we say it says. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 07:48, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There's a clear difference in severity between the phrases "nationalist" and "extreme nationalist" and "neo-Nazi"; replacing the third with the first seems like whitewashing. In addition, when we describe HDZ as "nationalist" as well, that implies an equality between HDZ and HSP at the time, which may or may not have existed (another sourcing problem, improper synthesis). --Joy [shallot] (talk) 07:57, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Citation variations

[edit]

Please do not modify established citation variations per WP:CITEVAR merely because of personal preferences, as you did at the Battle of Vukovar.--Tomobe03 (talk) 10:27, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain exactly what you mean please? I added a source from Amnesty which in like fashion to those which report Serbs harmed "non-Serbs" states that Croats here targeted non-Croats. If this is wrong and the other is right, can you tell me why and how. Thanks. Staro Gusle (talk) 10:32, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring to citation format policy WP:CITEVAR. Specifically, you added a bare url reference (which is discouraged per se) in an article where {{harvnb}} citation format is established thereby acting contrary to the WP:CITEVAR. Please format your reference using the harvnb template.
As far as contents of citations used, I have not taken a look at the citation offered yet, therefore I will not comment on the content itself - not right now at least.--Tomobe03 (talk) 10:43, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see what you mean. I'll get the hang of it. Thanks Tomobe. Staro Gusle (talk) 11:00, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
