Request on 17:13:41, 19 September 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by Stevensma

Stevensma (talk) 17:13, 19 September 2023 (UTC) Re: M. Rahim Shayegan draft, there is nothing in my opinion that needs to be changed due to copyright infringement. It is ALL titles - either professional titles, names of institutions, or book titles. I cannot change any of these. These titles exist in many places on the internet, and cannot be paraphrased. Anyone who reviews these comparisons that you point out can clearly see that. Nothing was cut and pasted, or even closely paraphrased, but simply deal with the same individual in question who holds these titles, affiliations, recognition, and publications.

Responded at User_talk:Stevensma#Copyvios to keep it central Star Mississippi 17:19, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Have you ever heard of Draft:Bowdon College this school? I find it strange it's spelled both ways sometimes in the same source or sentence. Anyway, seeks interesting. Take care. FloridaArmy (talk) 16:28, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

I hadn't, thanks. Going to look into this right now as well as the other one you flagged while I was offline. And thanks for the six month edit on 9th Avenue Saloon. I think I can get that one to mainspace soon. Star Mississippi 17:58, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
That's a fascinating topic, thanks for flagging. I'm not sure whether you're at your cap @FloridaArmy (and please let me know if I should review some of your drafts), but I'd be happy to accept this if you want to submit. Star Mississippi 19:58, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
This is now in mainspace, pinging @FloridaArmy as well. S0091 (talk) 15:43, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks and thanks @Firefangledfeathers as well. Definitely deserves to be there. Star Mississippi 01:44, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

Thanks again for your efforts! ―Buster7  12:18, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

oh wow. Thank you @Buster7 @CT55555, @Spicy and @Novem Linguae. I really appreciate this. CT, it's a pleasure to collaborate with you, @Netherzone on Possibly's drafts and other art-related articles. Novem, I so appreciate all you do in assisting us less technically-oriented editors in scripts and other needs and Spicy, you're a huge asset at SPI which is where I frequently have worked with you. Teamwork is what makes this project so fun. Thanks again! Star Mississippi 12:58, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Star is a Wiki Rock Star! So helpful and good humored. All the excellent work she does improving the encyclopedia and working with other editors. The way she works with others collaboratively is a model for the project. The award is so well-deserved! I have learned a lot from her during my time here, and appreciate every time she "nudges" me to have a look at an article. It's fun and productive teamwork! Thank you Star for being such a great person, editor and admin! You are appreciated! Netherzone (talk) 13:07, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Aww thanks so much @Netherzone and apologies for missing this. I love the community of editors here. Star Mississippi 02:27, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

It's a shame SPI is so backlogged

I'm sure you have seen I have added a stale sock, plus some details of what they have been doing on Commons. The AfD will likely close prior to the opening of the SPI investigative stage, I fear. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 15:47, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Talk-page stalking CU... I'll take a look. Courcelles (talk) 15:48, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
@Courcelles You get the "Guardian Angel Award" 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 15:52, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Happy to help. If you've got a mess that becomes time-sensitive, feel free to notify me or an active CU to move it to the front of the line (mentally, there's no physical priority list!); it's much more efficient to just do the SPI work now than having to re-do an entire AFD because it was full of sockpuppets! Courcelles (talk) 15:58, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Courcelles That makes a lot of sense. Might there be value in a Twinkle checkbox to note time sensitivity, real time sensitivity, when filing an SPI. Some, many, may be left without harm, some ought not to be. There is always scope for "But I am more important" of course 😳 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 16:05, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Perhaps. Not that I'd have any idea how to implement such a thing! Courcelles (talk) 16:19, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
You can add me to the list of CUs happy to be pinged if something is time-sensitive. :) firefly ( t · c ) 18:34, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Thank you both! I forgot to follow the breadcrumbs to commons but had been looking at User:Kaviya7mps/sandbox and wondering because it seemed odd they just "happened" to find the main article. If anyone knows about how to add that to Twinkle, @Novem Linguae will. Star Mississippi 16:23, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the ping. I'd recommend getting consensus for adding this to Twinkle at a talk page such as Wikipedia talk:Sockpuppet investigations/SPI/Clerks first. This would probably involve creating a special "urgent" status or category or something for SPIs. Once consensus is there and the category and template are created and someone is actually monitoring this category, I think at that point it would be a good time to add a "Urgent?" check box to Twinkle. Hope this helps. –Novem Linguae (talk) 17:55, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Good point well made. I'm not sure that is a place I feel comfortable to post on. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 18:04, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
I'll... circulate it to functionaries-en. Given this might would be more for the benefit of CUs than clerks anyway. Courcelles (talk) 18:26, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks @Courcelles and @Novem Linguae for process insight. Super helpful. And thanks @Firefly. Good to have a friendly CU or two on speed dial. Star Mississippi 18:40, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Distinctly unimpressed ...

... with the antics of this editor (and regretting the several minutes of my life that I spent trying to guide her). No objection of any kind if you see any productive way forward – I don't. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:45, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

I don't either. @DoubleGrazing and I are apparently better than trolls, but don't give helpful advice, because it isn't what they want to hear. I was offline most of today but support the Block. They are intent on wikilawyering to promote their colleague. Thanks, by the way, for the insight on why rev del might not be needed. CP's process is still not on area where I frequently work. Star Mississippi 00:25, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
I'm regrettably near-dormant in that area now – the spammers and promoters and just seem to suck all my energy away. But always happy to pontificate on how I think the various copyright processes are supposed to work. I always feel bad when an excess of AGF ends up as a train crash. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:24, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Thought you might like this subject. FloridaArmy (talk) 16:45, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

Speaking of architecture, some very stubby drafts I started on Mississippi architects are languishing in draftspace in case you or any of your page watchers know anyone who might be interested in working on them.

"Contentious material"

Hello Star, I had one editor remove this content [1] deeming it to be "contentious", although I don't completely agree. The source is definitely not a blog posting but rather a mailing list from Goanet which the subject himself had published. Do you think this removal is valid when it is actually helpful to provide an insight about the personal life of the person? Rejoy2003(talk) 14:37, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

A mailing list is not a sufficient source for contentious material about a living person, nor is "insight about the personal life" a valid reason to include it. Please find a better source as the onus is on you to find grounds to include it. Star Mississippi 01:53, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
What do you feel about it? Even if I find a reliable source, do you think I should include it? I mean such similiar personal relationships have been included in many actors' articles. Also I understand it isn't a completely reliable source but see WP:ABOUTSELF Rejoy2003(talk) 03:09, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
I don't personally think it belongs, but that's my opinion not a rule. Aboutself isn't going to fly for the relationship for BLP reasons as it also involves the actions of other parties.
If you think it needs to be included, find a better source and open a discussion on the Talk page. Star Mississippi 12:09, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
Alright thanks! Rejoy2003(talk) 12:17, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Good admin - regarding MF thread

The Admin's Barnstar
You are a good admin. Thanks for making decisions which help the project. Lightburst (talk) 20:32, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
All is well. I hope to get some more NPP work done this month. And I work in DYK, the folks there are helpful. There is Wikipedia life after AfD. Keep on keepin on - I just stopped here after seeing you in the same MF thread . Lightburst (talk) 02:53, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
I like AfC and need to look more into NPP and what help is needed there. I'm hoping there's a tutorial as the AfC script learning curve was stiff for someone who isn't a tech-based editor. I much prefer words to tools, although I understand their value Star Mississippi 13:41, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
I may like to get involved at AfC. I still remember when my first article was approved there and how great I felt. The DYK tools are great, and the GA tools, and the archiving tool. I enjoyed a short stint in GA reviewing and the GA tool was slick. Some others are clunky. I prefer your style of text message to boilerplate as in WP:DTR. Lightburst (talk) 15:15, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
I was going to learn DYK when we first worked on Possibly's drafts after they died, but I never quite got there.
Templates are helpful, but I agree. Sometimes you need to use your own words and explain the why that applies to that user/article/etc. Otherwise it's not particularly helpful Star Mississippi 16:00, 8 October 2023 (UTC)

These are two different musicals ↓

Hi Star. Two different musicals may cause a dilemma with any future-created articles. Maybe this can be averted. Both of these musicals are supposedly Broadway-aimed:

Wait a minute, the second musical might be called Gatsby (musical).

Keep watch, will ya? Thanks.

Best, --Discographer (talk) 18:12, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

And then there's this one! too. Who knew there was this Gatsbypalooza? Will look into these and see if there's a sane way to differentiate. Hope you're well @Discographer. Star Mississippi 18:46, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
Thanks Star, hope you're well, too. Best, --Discographer (talk) 18:58, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
all is well here, thanks. Just saw the latest production of Love Letters at Irish Rep. An amazing piece of theatre. Did you get the chance to see it? Star Mississippi 19:50, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

Potentially incorrectly deleted article + new information

Hello! I'd love your help in potentially resurrecting or better understand the deletion of my wikipedia page here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Siddharth_Batra

1) My company X1 was recently acquired by Robinhood, tons of press about it (https://newsroom.aboutrobinhood.com/robinhood-signs-agreement-to-acquire-x1/, https://www.google.com/search?q=siddharth+batra+x1+robinhood) 2) I've also done a handful of podcasts over the years (https://www.google.com/search?q=siddharth+batra+x1+interview)

I'm no big tech celebrity but the deletion of my page seems a bit aggressive. Would love another look if you can, thank you so much! 165.225.242.199 (talk) 05:37, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

Good morning IP 165. As a contested PROD, this can be restored upon request and I have done so.
Please note however that it is not "your" page, but rather an article about you. Most challenging, sourcing wise, is podcasts you've done about your company will not count toward notability as they're not independent. WP:SIRS will help. If you choose to edit the article directly, which I advise against, please read WP:COI and make the requisite declarations. Happy to help if I can, or suggest you use the WP:TEAHOUSE for assistance too. Star Mississippi 12:32, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
Also courtesy ping Steven Walling who nominated the article initially. Star Mississippi 01:35, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
To be honest I don't think this should be recreated when the subject of the article is asking. This is super self promotional and there was at least one other experienced editor agreed that it lacked notability. Normally an AFD like that should be relisted rather than closed. Steven Walling • talk 03:12, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
If it was contested closer to the close, I'd have reopened it but given that four months have passed, it doesn't seem a possible outcome. While I personally agree with you @Steven Walling, this would have been restored at REFUND and I'm not a fan of bureaucracy. If it's not improved by unconnected editors, I imagine it returns to AfD. Star Mississippi 12:00, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Fair enough! It can always be renominated. Steven Walling • talk 05:36, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
Which @Chris troutman: has done before I even had a chance to think about it. I'll drop a note there to the discussion here. Star Mississippi 02:23, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi! I saw that you closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ghanim Alsheikh as a soft delete, even though there were two !votes to Keep. The article has already been recreated, so there's no need to undo anything, but this seems like an unusual close to me. What happened? Am I missing something? Actualcpscm scrutinize, talk 20:02, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Actualcpscm. You're not missing anything. I'll be honest, I have no idea why I closed it that way. If I saw it today in the log I'd probably go N/C since input was limited and unlikely to foster consensus. I'm guessing misclick on a log. Oddly I didn't notice my close was apparently wrong when they requested restoration either. Call it brain melting in summer maybe? Thanks for flagging! Star Mississippi 20:27, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Invitation to Cornell study on Wikipedia discussions

Hello Star Mississippi,

I’m reaching out as part of a Cornell University academic study investigating the potential for user-facing tools to help improve discussion quality within Wikipedia discussion spaces (such as talk pages, noticeboards, etc.). We chose to reach out to you because you have been highly active on various discussion pages.

The study centers around a prototype tool, ConvoWizard, which is designed to warn Wikipedia editors when a discussion they are replying to is getting tense and at risk of derailing into personal attacks or incivility. More information about ConvoWizard and the study can be found at our research project page on meta-wiki.

If this sounds like it might be interesting to you, you can use this link to sign up and install ConvoWizard. Of course, if you are not interested, feel free to ignore this message.

If you have any questions or thoughts about the study, our team is happy to discuss! You may direct such comments to me or to my collaborator, Cristian_at_CornellNLP.

Thank you for your consideration.

--- Jonathan at CornellNLP (talk) 17:38, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello Star Mississippi, I mentioned you here, and Id welcome your input on the topic too if you wouldnt mind. nableezy - 22:47, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

Draft:QOR360

Thanks for all of your feedback on the draft. Having thought about the comments left by you and the other editor involved in the discussion, I’d like to take this back to Sandbox and work on it a bit more.

When I do resubmit it, given that the comments here are now longer than the draft itself, would you have any objection to my removing them? I worry that with so many comments, it would be difficult for the future AfC reviewer to get into the article itself. Most of the comments concern the resolved question of potential sock puppeting which we now all agree is not an issue with this draft.

Thanks for considering the request, and for all of your help so far. W12SW77 (talk) 22:55, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for your note. I agree with your POV but don't think they should be removed entirely so I've moved them to the Talk so they're not the main focus for a reviewer. To keep it central, let's continue that discussion there? Star Mississippi 00:20, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive

Hello Star Mississippi:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 1800 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

Happy November

Any chance you or one of your page watchers could assist with these rejected drafts?

Lucas Broussard

Back on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Lucas_Broussard you mentioned being willing to move that into draftspace, can I request you do that? His first senior level international competition he placed 4th, I feel it's only a matter of time before he meets notability guidelines and would be nice not to have to start from scratch. Kmusser (talk) 20:51, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Kmusser. Here you go: Draft:Lucas Broussard and apologies for the delay as I was offline. Courtesy heads up to @Bradv and Ritchie333: as they deleted recreations, but I don't anticipate anyone having an issue with this request to improve it. I leave the call of going through AfC or not up to you Star Mississippi 00:34, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank You! Kmusser (talk) 01:03, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
Hello Star Mississippi, I think that Draft:Lucas Broussard is ready for the article space, he had his first ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating this weekend at the 2023 Cup of China. My experience with just "submitting the draft" is negative: in the case I remember the review took a lot of time and the article was created from scratch, the result was a tedious "merge process". What can I do here? --Kallichore (talk) 23:25, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
and I just managed to template myself instead of you @Kallichore or @Kmusser. LOL.
If I saw this in the AfC queue, I'd have accepted it and I've done so here. If another editor feels that Broussard doesn't merit mainspace, it can be brought to AfD but this would not be a G4 as the reasons for deletion have been addressed and there are new claims to notability. I'm going to leave a note to this discussion on the Talk so any editors have background. Star Mississippi 14:00, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

Chaseline Deletion Review

I had no idea what that Deletion Review was about. I don't know why someone would create a WP talk page for an SPI anyway. IP editing is very seldom appropriate in sockpuppet invetigations, when IP editors are usually sockpuppets. So I guess thank you for closing it. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:26, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Yep that was my logic too @Robert McClenon. This is probably not a thing ever but in the .01% chance it needs to be and an admin doesn't, you or another experienced editor knows who to poke. We don't need seven days of bureaucracy for bullshit. Have a great day! Star Mississippi 18:55, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Hey, Star,

I'm not sure what happened here but I relisted this discussion earlier today and then you relisted it again. Maybe you had a tab open that you needed to refresh to reflect edits that had taken place since when you opened it. No harm, no foul, just thought I'd tell you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:15, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi! That's super weird. It is still showing at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Old/Open AfDs. Doesn't excuse my complete misreading of your time stamp @Liz, but seems to be an adjacent bug. Thanks for flagging, I reverted myself. Hope you're well and thanks again for the note. Star Mississippi 03:32, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
I sometimes have trouble with XFDCloser. I will relist a discussion and XFDCloser posts it to today's daily AFD page but doesn't move it off of the current AFD daily log page we look at from 7 days ago. So, the discussion is listed in two places. But the editor who created the tool isn't active on Wikipedia any more so I've learned not to post my concerns because I won't get a reply.
I wasn't aware of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Old/Open AfDs, but I'm glad that there are admins who review it. I try to work down the daily log page chronologically but sometimes I just skip discussions that I don't know how to close or whose closure I can see but I don't agree with. I try to keep my own opinion out of my closures but sometimes just crappy articles are kept or promising articles are deleted and I just can't make myself do it so I leave it to a more neutral administrator. But despite the few times I skip a closure, I still end up deleting more articles than I think are warranted but I must abide by consensus. Watch that comment come around and bite me some day in a noticeboard dispute!
This was a minor issue but I look forward to having an excuse to come to your User talk page and say "Hi!". Have any holiday plans? We are trying to cobble together a Thanksgiving gathering but everyone has different schedules, mobilities and desires. And we are only trying to get together for 2 1/2 hours! God help my family if we ever tried to coordinate a wedding or some event on a larger scale, people would probably arrive in shifts. Liz Read! Talk! 03:29, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
Always good to hear from you @Liz and I feel you on the schedules. We're doing a small version and actually going out to eat. Thanksgiving has always been weird in our family due to schedules and COVID era allowed us to embrace it and realize that different traditions isn't necessarily bad. In fact not stressing is worth it and kind of makes it better. We are thankfully a relatively small family and out of the wedding era, but I can't even fathom one now. I hope you're able to see your loved ones in some shape or form.
I use Old/Open to avoid an issue that someone (you?) flagged about early closes, which I find an issue when reading the stamps. Or I guess I should say misreading. This report seems to only list them once the clock has ticked over so it lessens the possibility of those. I don't think any of the tools are perfect, unfortunately. There was one I closed recently that wasn't particularly long, complex or anything and the script just would not work. That was a fun look back as most of these scripts weren't as prominent when I was first active. I almost always Twinkled though. Yuup. There are some I won't close. Not even out of concern of DRV or anything, but just the same old arguments are exhausting (sports) and/or I see the answer but I personally disagree. No thanks, someone else can handle that.
I did appreciate your note somewhere recently about a high volume nominator. We just can't sustain that. Especially not at the holidays when folks aren't online as much. Star Mississippi 00:46, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I estimate about every two weeks, we run into an editor who just plasters the daily log with dozens of AFDs. And, almost 100% of the time, they aren't editors who participate in AFD discussions so they have no idea how much work our regular AFD participants do looking into articles. Sometimes it just blows me away, when editors track down some mention in a newspaper from the 19th century or they actually go to a library and obtain a source through Interlibrary loan to see if it supports a claim. I think even more than content creators, our editors who check and seek out references ensure that Wikipedia is a quality source of information. But doing what they do takes time, even with digitized records and Wikipedia Library resources so I don't want some editor unfamiliar with AFD land to overwhelm the system. Most times, editors understand when I ask them to slow down the nominations but there are still a few editors who just go on a blitz with posting AFDs, usually on a specific topic like football or rugby players or, currently the most divisive discussions, locations involving GEOLAND. I don't understand how editors get so worked up about settlements on unincorporated land but, man, do they care.
As for Thanksgiving it looks like that got worked out, at least we have a location and general time. My mother is a little fragile so there are legitimate concerns of getting her to and from houses with stair issues. But when we work as a team, things generally sort themselves out. Liz Read! Talk! 04:55, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
I hope you were able to successfully bring your mother to dinner and otherwise enjoyed. It was a quiet one here as well with grouper instead of turkey, because I do try turkey each year just to confirm that indeed, I do not care for it.
Oh thankfully I haven't seen the GEOLAND debates, you must have sorted them out before I got to the log. I've checked in a couple of times this week while traveling but definitely not engaged enough to close anything sensitive or needing continued conversation. But yes, the rushes to nominate adn delete articles that can very much wait helps no one and just means we repeat the same conversations. Star Mississippi 19:50, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

Request on 18:25:11, 18 November 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by Slipmats

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to review a draft I made for Kate Werble Gallery. I wanted to know what articles/content you were referring to in your comment "Sourcing doesn't appear to be of the depth needed". I'm happy to follow guidelines for the composition to only include sources that offer the required amount of depth that will uphold the community standards for citation.

Slipmats (talk) 18:25, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

Apologies for the delay @Slipmats. You're off to a good start, but more sourcing about the gallery, its history and what it does vs. artists it shows, shows it participates in would be helpful. If you have a look at WP:ORG you can see a little more about the depth of coverage that's needed. Let me know if I can help any more. Star Mississippi 20:25, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

Deletion Review: Adrija Roy

Hi can you please close the DRV of Adrija Roy and remove the undelete template from the mainspace of her article so that we can recreate a completely new article? 117.209.135.183 (talk) 02:52, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi IP 117. I will not be restoring this to mainspace as I believe it would benefit from time in draft, with which you're of course welcome and well within your rights to disagree. Another admin may close the DRV to restore. It should close within the next couple of days Star Mississippi 03:34, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
Ok thanks. 117.209.135.183 (talk) 05:13, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
@Star Mississippi: Can we create a new article on Adrija Roy now? It will be a completely different version from the previous deleted versions. 117.209.135.183 (talk) 05:43, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
@Star Mississippi: I'm sorry I unknowingly edited the article Adrija Roy. When will the undelete template be moved so that we can recreate a new article of Adrija Roy? 117.209.135.183 (talk) 06:24, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
We don't want any restoration from the previously deleted articles. We have our own resources to support the new article. 117.209.135.183 (talk) 06:26, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
The template will be removed when the discussion concludes. There isn't anything you can do to hurry the process, and continuing to do so will make it look like you have reasons for doing so. Star Mississippi 14:19, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
Ok Sir/Ma'am. I'm really sorry about being impatient. It's just because I have UGC NET exam for which I have to prepare so I want to complete creation of this article and concentrate on my studies. I'm a huge fan of Adrija Roy so I want to create her article along with the help of my editor friends (one of them has an account) which is why I am trying to hurry up. I'm really sorry for this behaviour. From now on, I will not bother you or anyone else. Sorry. 117.219.208.254 (talk) 15:31, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
IP, letting you know of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adrija Roy (3rd nomination) so we can re-establish consensus. Star Mississippi 14:07, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
@Star Mississippi: Sir/Ma'am, someone has closed the nomination of Adrija Roy and there seems to be something really inappropriate and strange about the way it has been done. Can you please look into it once and do the needful? Thanks in advance. 117.246.92.134 (talk) 16:28, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi IP 117. I was offline and @Daniel resolved it in the interim. Unfortunately, that solution means you can't participate in the discussion. You retain access to the Talk page, which you can use. I'll try to keep an eye there for any input. Star Mississippi 02:16, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
@Star Mississippi: Thank you Sir/Ma'am. 117.249.214.24 (talk) 07:16, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
I wonder why the article was nominated for deletion in the first place.
I understand deletion is a regular exercise but it appears to me that editors are too quick to make such prompts.
Wikipedia serves as a valuable repository of information, documenting the achievements and contributions of individuals in various fields, including actresses.
Deleting the articles of actresses who have made significant contributions would undermine the platform's mission to provide comprehensive, verifiable knowledge. Deleting their articles would not only diminish their well-deserved recognition but also deprive Wikipedia users of valuable information about their careers and achievements.
These articles not only celebrate the accomplishments of these women but also serve as educational resources for the public, promoting awareness and appreciation for their work. Furthermore, preserving the pages acknowledges the cultural and historical impact of these actresses, ensuring their legacies are remembered and recognized for generations to come.
This particular actress has not only demonstrated exceptional talent but has also played a crucial role in shaping the entertainment industry.
I understand the importance of maintaining Wikipedia's standards, but I believe that the contributions of these actresses warrant the preservation of their pages. Perhaps additional citations or revisions could be made to address any specific concerns without resorting to deletion.
These are just my thoughts. I don't want anybody to start attacking me for expressing what I feel, as is the usual practice here.
Thank you! Priscaulochukwu (talk) 18:53, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
You're always welcome to share your thoughts @Priscaulochukwu. The only reason I nominated it -- neutral, not advocating for deletion in my nomination -- was that while the DRV closed to allow re-creation, it didn't address the merit behind on article as that's not within the remit of DRV. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adrija Roy (3rd nomination), which closed with a lack of consensus, showed that there is some support for keeping the article on Roy, although not a clear consensus. It is not at risk of re-nomination, so you don't have to worry right now.
I think the challenge you'll run into is that These articles not only celebrate the accomplishments of these women but also serve as educational resources for the public, promoting awareness and appreciation for their work. is not what Wikipedia is for. Articles on any subject should document their work, not promote it. The broader challenge is women in any field have generally had less coverage than men, which results in sourcing challenges. Star Mississippi 19:46, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
Hello, Star Missisippi,
Thank you for your thoughtful response. I understand the concerns regarding the promotion of individuals' work on Wikipedia and the challenges associated with sourcing for women in various fields.
Striking the right balance between celebrating accomplishments and maintaining an unbiased, encyclopedic tone is indeed crucial.
I appreciate your clarification on the nomination and the context of the DRV. It's encouraging to know that the article is not at immediate risk of re-nomination.
I'm committed to contributing constructively to ensure that the content aligns with Wikipedia's guidelines while recognizing and addressing the underrepresentation of women's achievements.
Best regards,

ArbCom case request

You are involved in a recently filed request for arbitration. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case#Lourdes and, if you wish to do so, enter your statement and any other material you wish to submit to the Arbitration Committee. As threaded discussion is not permitted on most arbitration pages, please ensure that you make all comments in your own section only. Additionally, the guide to arbitration and the Arbitration Committee's procedures may be of use.

Thanks, Beeblebrox (talk) 20:34, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

Well, that certainly didn't end up the way I expected. Good riddance I guess. What a jerk. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:03, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
Dear Beeblebrox,
May I please draw your attention to the use of strong language, such as "what a jerk" and "good riddance," in discussions related to the arbitration case about Lourde.
While discussions on Wikipedia often involve diverse opinions, it is essential to maintain a level of decorum and professionalism, especially in matters of significant magnitude.
I have no doubt you mean well but please let's tone down on the use of such strong language, no matter the "crime" the guilty party may have committed.
Expressing disagreement is a natural part of collaborative editing, and I believe that maintaining respectful language enhances the overall quality of our discussions. I would like to see our diligent editors engage in constructive dialogue, focusing on the content rather than using disparaging remarks.
Promoting a culture of respect and open communication aligns with Wikipedia's collaborative spirit and ensures that our discussions remain productive. I trust that we can continue to work together in a manner that upholds the principles of civility and professionalism.
Forgive me if I am stepping on toes with my remarks.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Best regards,
Prisca Priscaulochukwu (talk) 19:32, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
@Priscaulochukwu, you need to ping @Beeblebrox for them to see your comment. Please read WP:PING for how to do that when you need to reach other editors. I have done so here. I'd advise in this case, dropping it. There was a lot of heat that led to this arb com request, and Beeblebrox was justified in their language, which was not directed at Lourdes anyway. Star Mississippi 14:14, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the guidance. I appreciate your clarification on the pinging process, and I'll ensure to follow the recommended steps in the future.
I understand the context behind @Beeblebrox's language and will take your advice on the matter.
Your insights are valuable, and I'm committed to maintaining a constructive and respectful tone in discussions.
Best regards,
Prisca Priscaulochukwu (talk) 18:46, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

Deletion Review: Kennedy Obohwemu

Hello,

I would like to request a deletion review based on the above subject.

I understand that it is good practice to consult the deleting admin before requesting a deletion review.

There is overwhelming evidence that the subject has made notable contributions to his field.

Academics are only required to pass one out of eight criteria’ for WP:PROF. WorldCat, a global catalog of library materials, is the preferred resource to provide evidence of notability for academics under WP: PROF. Considering the several thousands of libraries worldwide that hold the works of this academic, the reach and influence of his research is unquestionable. Without a shadow of doubt, this subject has passed this criterion. As such, his page should deservedly remain on Wikipedia.

In 2022, the subject was recognised among 26 Nigerians who pulled their weight in the international scene with groundbreaking feats. This is a significant testament to his notability and influence. The ability to stand out in a select group of high-achieving Nigerians demonstrates his noteworthy accomplishments and distinguishes him as a prominent figure in his area of expertise.

Nobody seems to have mentioned the fact that the subject is the founder of several literary organisations for young aspiring authors at national and international levels. There are multiple independent sources that highlight the initiatives and projects executed by these organisations.

The subject wrote over two thousand poems in one calendar year, as reported by multiple sources.

Unless there is substantial evidence to disprove these facts, I see no reason why his profile should be deleted. Rather, the page should have been made a more improved version of what it was, as the above valid points were not captured in his page.

I will be happy to receive guidance from you on how best we can resolve this issue.

Regards. EvaRey (talk) 14:18, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

In a shocking development... -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|she) 22:23, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
Well that was wonderful news to come back to @Tamzin. Thanks for saving me the time in re-reading and considering re-assessing. Star Mississippi 03:35, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
If the above arguments are valid, then I’m afraid we’ve served this subject a cold meal of injustice by deleting his article. If academics are only required to pass 1 out of 8 criteria, then from what I can see, his article deserves a place on Wikipedia. Kindly verify the above claims please. Priscaulochukwu (talk) 10:39, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
The editor was paid to promote the subject, so of course they're raving about the person and the work. A consensus of uninvolved editors assessed his notability. If an uninvolved, experienced editor believes my close is wrong, they're welcome to file Deletion Review? Given the conflicted and paid editors, probably not a good area for you as a new account. Is there a particular reason that I can help with as to why you've taken interest in these discussions on my Talk? I'd suggest focusing on articles rather than project space discussion until you get more familiar. Star Mississippi 13:29, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
Apologies for invading your space but I don't think only "experienced" editors should be given such powers. Editors and Admins alike have made many mistakes, which is well documented. Whether that editor was paid or not, the onus is on us to verify their claims. Wikipedia is explicitly clear that academics are only required to pass 1 out of 8 criteria. This subject most definitely passed the criterion stated above. Something fishy is going on here. That's what piqued my curiosity. But no worries, I will take your advice and mind my own business. Priscaulochukwu (talk) 17:51, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
I think you've misunderstood me. It has nothing to do with "powers".
There's a familiarity that is needed with notability criteria that you get from active editing. You do not yet have that, therefore you don't see why the community assessed Obohwemu's notability differently to the way you do. You're welcome to open a Deletion Review if you think my close is wrong. However, the case you have made here is unlikely to sway folks that the close was wrong. In fact, they're going to wonder the same thing as I did -- what brought you to the article. And how is a brand new account familiar with "well documented" editor and admin mistakes. That's where I advise learning the norms a little before you jump in head long. Star Mississippi 02:34, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Rather than a Deletion Review, I might consider creating a new draft for this subject instead. Let me just emphasize that while I might be new to this particular discussion, I am not a brand new account on Wikipedia. I was here many years ago but got pissed off by the antics and nuances of fellow editors. I won't comment more on this because the next thing they will say is that I have "conflict of interest". Priscaulochukwu (talk) 10:12, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
You're a new account "Account created on 23 October 2023." but not a new editor, which I knew and that's why I phrased it as I did. Just be mindful of WP:LEGITSOCK & WP:BADSOCK and you shouldn't run into issues. Starting a draft and addressing the issues is definitely a good start. Star Mississippi 13:10, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Hey Star Mississippi, would you be able to unsalt this page? I've reviewed Draft:Attih Soul and accepted it, as the subject appears to be notable, with no glaring issues in the prose. Let me know if you have any questions! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 00:16, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Offensive redirect

Hi Star Mississippi -- Thanks for deleting that redirect! I came close to simply deleting it as an attack but I've had my fingers burned being overly hasty deleting redirects before. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 00:38, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

You're most welcome. I will defend that IAR to anyone who questions, as by no definition is it a legit the way say Lauren Bowbert could be to approximate pronounciation. Star Mississippi 00:57, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
I should have had the courage of my convictions and just quietly killed it as an obvious attack page. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 01:09, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
I kind of feel like it's one that looks worse to the person arguing for it than it does for an IAR but I guess we'll see. Or hopefully not see. Star Mississippi 01:29, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
Sort of illustrating the point, she was called that on Fox. —Cryptic 17:43, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
Yep, thanks @Cryptic (and for the notification as well).
That was essentially my point in my endorse. We don't need to descend to their level.
As an aside, do either of you remember the editor who made all the redirects based on names Trump called folks? User_talk:JayCubby#Hi makes me think they're not a new editor, but I can't find the account that created all of those although I know I deleted a few. Thanks either way! Star Mississippi 02:22, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
I missed that entirely, predictable as it was. Maybe stop by List of nicknames used by Donald Trump and paste in the redlinks to check? —Cryptic 02:28, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
Disturbing number of those aren't redlinks, but from one of them that was, I think you may be thinking of Special:DeletedContributions/Ladyoftrees. —Cryptic 02:30, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
Oh brilliant, thanks. @Girth Summit there's nothing obvious that brings it nearly enough for an SPI but since you processed Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ladyoftrees/Archive does JayCubby hit any of the flags that would make paperwork make sense? They were created before either of the accounts were blocked and edited in other areas, but we have Lauren Boobert which also recently landed at DRV and there are other indicators this isn't a new editor.
Thanks either way Star Mississippi 03:01, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
They're certainly rather suspect - I had a quick look at this just now, but I'm out of time, will return to it later. Girth Summit (blether) 08:39, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
Thanks @Girth Summit. They're certainly continuing to be disruptive so I think they'll find their way to block land soon enough regardless of whether they're a sock. Star Mississippi 02:08, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
and you'd have landed at DRV as I just did. Oh well. We still made the right call and I'd do it again. Star Mississippi 13:56, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

Start working on the draft. All you have done so far is remove existing content without explanation. Jay 💬 07:00, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks @Jay. @JakharSunil, as Jay says -- you're welcome to improve the draft but the route you're taking isn't likely going to lead to the draft being accepted when you submit it. Please edit the draft with sourcing that talks about Yadav and their work in depth, which was the issue raised at the AfD. Star Mississippi 14:14, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

It seems there should be entries on the Vicksburg riots of 1874 and the Vicksburg massacre of 1875? Interestingly DeeDee Baldwin is quoted here.

Coverage here

Vicksburg High School redirects to the district. There are also no entries on Wikipedia for the segregated schools that preceded it.

I think it's time to move Draft:DeeDee Baldwin to mainspace. She and the Against All Odds project have received very substantial coverage from reliable independent sources. Thanks for your help on that entry. FloridaArmy (talk) 03:33, 12 December 2023 (UTC)

Hey y'all Star Mississippi (talk · contribs) and FloridaArmy (talk · contribs), I expanded and moved the Vicksburg massacre article to the mainspace but it can be expanded further with more citations. There is some conflicting information in the citations, I added a note to the talk page. The newspapers have a lot of details that could be added too (like Newspapers.com), its just tricky searching for it since the event goes by many names. I found it's easier to search by location and date(s). PigeonChickenFish (talk) 07:49, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
Wow. Amazing work. Thank you @PigeonChickenFish! I agree re: location and date for so many events of that period. Will add what I can when I can.
@FloridaArmy I missed your note on Baldwin. I think she's notable, but I don't think it would pass AfD right now. Willing to move it and take a gamble though, but I'd prefer to wait for stronger independent sourcing. Star Mississippi 14:23, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

Request for creating the page Shikho

A page named Shikho was deleted by you per a deletion discussion. The cause was failure of passing WP:GNG and WP:NCORP for the lack of reliable sources. The creation of the page was protected by you for repeated creation. Now I have many reliable sources that will pass Wikipedia’s notability criteria. I want to re-create the page. I have extended confirmed rights and created more than 10 pages. Please remove the protection. Showib Ahmmed (talk) 15:39, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Showib Ahmmed. Given the clear consensus and multiple deletions, I'd advise working on it at Draft:Shikho first. I'd be happy to review it. If I don't think it's ready for protection to be lifted, you can either submit it through AFC or take the draft to DRV. How does that sound? Star Mississippi 15:46, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Ok. I will inform you after working on the draft. Thank you. Showib Ahmmed (talk) 16:09, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

Request for Guidance on Page Renaming and Redirect

I am a relatively new user, and I am reaching out for help. You had left a welcome page on my user page when I joined up.

The issue is that I created a new page for the novel "Somebody's Fool." After its creation, I realized the title needed a disambiguation tag "(novel)" for clarity. So, I moved the page to "Somebody's Fool (novel)", which automatically created a redirect from the old title "Somebody's Fool."

I worry that I accidentally created some confusion here with the redirect, and I think the old title of "Somebody's Fool" should be deleted. There are two other Wikipedia pages that link to the newly created page and I set those links to be correct. Can you please help me clear this up, potentially by deleting the redirect? Sorry about this. This is my second time creating a page, and I am still learning about how stuff works.   CipherSleuth (talk) 16:03, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi @CipherSleuth. You're all set. For future reference if you want something you've created and no one else has substantively edited deleted, you can use {{DB-g7}} or {{db-author}} to note that. Also, very well done with the article. Thanks for adding to our book articles. Ping me any time if I can help. Hi! I think that's a distinction without a difference, but happy to do so. Can you please just check the tags are all good. I did it with the script so hopefully didn't miss any steps, but you know technology. Thanks for raising and have a great day @Siroxo Star Mississippi 18:41, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Tag looks good, and I can understand your point as well. Thank you. —siroχo 18:47, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Star Mississippi. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Marathon Training Academy".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 02:34, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello, Star Mississippi,
It's always bizarre to post these messages on the User talk pages of longtime editors. But consider it a reminder that this draft was out there, untended. Obviously, you can restore it whenever you like. Liz Read! Talk! 02:36, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
and I very much appreciate it, since I haven't figured out another way to track my drafts. I restored it, optimistically but sourcing isn't there yet so I G-7ed it. One day! Maybe the red link on my to-do will work for me. Have a great evening and, as always, thanks for all you do @Liz. Star Mississippi 02:48, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

FYI, page was recreated. I see you were involved with previous deletion discussions. If you look at my talk page under the heading Declined G4, you can find relevant information on the likely SOCK and link to the SPI. Hope you're enjoying your holidays. CNMall41 (talk) 03:29, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

thanks for flagging @CNMall41. Unfortunately, I was offline and will be again later this week. It looks like the disruption has stopped but if you see me online, don't hesitate to ask for more eyes. Happy Holidays! Star Mississippi 02:43, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

Baloch in heroic Shahnameh

Hello First i'd liketo thank you for taking time on my article "Baloch in heroic Shahnameh". I just came across the subject and noticed my article was deleted by deletion discussion, as you reviewed my article some of the material that i used came from reliable sources and adequately explaining around the subject. I just don't understand why my article was deleted while correct information was registered according to the rules of Wikipedia . Anyway thank you for advice and help. Balash-Vologases (talk) 15:01, 24 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi! Apologies for the delay @Balash-Vologases, I was offline. The person you want to ask about the close is @Explicit. I recommended it for deletion as sourcing isn't enough to show why the subject was independentl notable-a key requirement for an article, and I noted that it could have been merged. Explicit (correctly, IMO) read that the community consensus was to delete. Based on the other discussions on your Talk, I feel like you should spend more time learning about policies and guidelines before trying to write another article. I'm going to be offline much of this week, so suggest you ask at the teahouse for time sensitive help, but happy to help when I return after the holidays. Star Mississippi 02:56, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank anyway,
Hope you don't mind me asking this here, i just didn't want to add new topic on your page and avoid from making more pollution here, could you please guide me How can i to establish a consensus for an alteration on a subject? Balash-Vologases (talk) 09:30, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
I never mind, but I'm about to step offline again for a few days.
Probably the best location would be the article Talk, or if it doesn't yet exist/low traffic, you can find a parent subject. If that's not enough, the Teahouse folks will be able to guide you. Star Mississippi 11:23, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

G5 - Draft:Yohan Poonawalla

Hi Star Mississippi. I'm a bit under the weather and am probably missing the blindingly obvious. On Draft:Yohan Poonawalla, I can't find Yaminishrmaa on the suspected or confirmed list. So I went to the deletion log, and viola! This is almost certainly Dave4MIndia. However, that's not on the suspected or confirmed list of MediaTribe either. It is a blocked sockpuppet of SunilGuptaWiki, however. (So I do need to G5 it) I can tie it to Yaminishrmaa. Other than this being a pointless exercise in exactness (which you can ignore if you want) what am I missing? Thanks! 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 03:16, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Sorry, me again. This is probably a sock, and it ain't notable, but this draft is significantly different than the deleted version(s), so I've undone myself. Profuse apologies for the mess. Still want to see what you're seeing. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 03:23, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi @78.26. Sorry to hear you're under the weather. I do hope you're improving. Re: substantively different, I thought that was only the case for G4 (which I declined to pursue at the AfD because you're correct, it's not the same). For G5 I thought it was just that it was socking. Pinging @DatGuy who labeled the last batch as confirmed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yohan poonawalla. My route in the tag was that Krishnarthiindia (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) was a blocked sock, and Steelbird1967 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is a squint eyes non sock who was just never blocked, but you may be technically correct that this isn't a G5 the way I read it originally (pre enough coffee after a late night).
FWIW, there's also Draft:Yohan poonawalla so I imagine you and I will be playing whack a sock for some time to come. Sadly. Star Mississippi 03:44, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
Ah yes, Krishnarthiindia in the middle of the edit history. That's enough, AGF isn't suicide and, if that's not enough, a drop of IAR regarding saving volunteer time. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 01:10, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Thank you! Saving time and sanity one draft at a time Star Mississippi 03:34, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
