Speedy deletion nomination of Areapal
[edit]You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
A tag has been placed on Areapal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. UtherSRG (talk) 06:38, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Areapal
[edit]Spoiltsport,
Welcome to Wikipedia. I have helped a bit with the Areapal article (formatting, cleanup etc). Don't worry, with the quality of sources added, it will be most probably be kept. Also the reason why it made the original prodders suspicious, is the language used to describe the company. Here is wikipedia, we need to be extremely neutral while describing the subjects of the articles. The language in areapal article, was like an advert (like "offers you" a "granular experience") etc. That was why the other editors became suspicious.
I have neutralised the language somewhat now - it still needs working. Meanwhile feel free to ask me if you have any other doubts.
Happy Editing --Sodabottle (talk) 04:55, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- Also i have removed the internal history sections. We cannot source them from company releases - if we can find news reports to back them up we can add them back.
- Hi Sodabottle . Thank you for spending time with my article. It looks much better now i guess. You inputs were valuable. It would be kind of you if you point out rest of the mistakes in the Article . Thank you once again. Also suggest if any topic needs to be written which are less controversial. I need a lot of experience in these Wiki edits - Spoiltsport (talk) 13:06, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- you are welcome :-). This is not controversial at all. It was just the language that made the experienced editors suspicious. Here in Wikipedia, we get a lot of people trying to promote their business, so editors are wary of any adjectives :-). Mostly avoid adjectives and superlatives and your articles will be fine (for e.g. instead of "the website is maintained by energetic and eager students", "maintained by student volunteers" will do). Regarding where you can help. probably with the newspaper articles (since you are the media guy, BTW were you with the Audio Visual Research Centre?), you can clean up or update The Hindu, Deccan Chronicle, The New Indian Express, Dina Malar, Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam, Dina Mani, Dina Thanthi etc. But remember to source the information you add with Reliable Sources. --Sodabottle (talk) 14:20, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- :) Will be happy to help Sir. I am not from Audio Visual Research Center. I am doing my engineering. and i am for hobby's sake doing an internship during weekends and holidays :P Sodabottle. Believe me this internship is fun. BTW did you see todays news on WIRE Magazine ?? [[1]] . will these kind of news be updated on the wikis ? - Spoiltsport (talk) 16:51, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi SodaBottle. Just wanted to ask when will they remove the AFD tag on that article. and whats they procedure on getting the AFD removed.? - Spoiltsport (talk) 03:32, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- It will get closed after 7 days after it was first opened. The closing admin will weigh both sides of the argument and close it as a keep or delete. In this case most probably it will be closed as Keep.--Sodabottle (talk) 03:56, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanx Sodabottle. How long will it take to become a administrator and how many articles should i edit to become one? Are you a administrator ? - Spoiltsport (talk) 19:16, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- no i am not one and i don't intend to become one. Qualifications for an admin vary - it is usually down to a lot of editing, working in various areas of wikipedia, sound grasp of wikipedia policies and trust from other editors. An editor who want to be an admin puts in a request for adminship (RfA), where his past history - edits and behaviour - and knowledge of wikipedia policies are tested, discussed and voted upon. Usually if about 90 percent of the editors voting on a RfA agree, that an editor has what it takes to be an admin. It is a fairly grueling process. If you want to become an admin, start by getting more editing experience.--Sodabottle (talk) 19:47, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- ) Ok Not much of time i have will have to spend more.. As of now you apply for Admin-ship i'll vote :) - Spoiltsport (talk) 20:40, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Areapal

A tag has been placed on Areapal, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. The file File:Areapal Logo .jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
orphaned file, no foreseeable use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jon Kolbert (talk) 20:55, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
