Notability of Jeff Novak

A tag has been placed on Jeff Novak, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 22:51, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Spiel! Yes, unfortunately, the article has been deleted. Speedy deletions are like that :) What you'll want to do is create the article again - but before you do, take a look at the biography guidelines and the notability guidelines. In this case, make sure to mention his being "the first to successfully sue an NFL team for damages" - that will assert notability. If you can include a reference to a web page or print article that discusses that fact, you'll be sure to escape the speedy deletion process. Hope that helps, and I hope you're not discouraged by the process. There are thousands of NFL players, so Wikipedia tries to ensure that only the ones that are actually notable are included in the encyclopedia. If you have any further questions (about Wikipedia - I know nothing about football ;), feel free to leave me a message. And welcome to Wikipedia! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 04:03, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They have mentioned it repeatedly on the news and I live 12 miles away from the crash and about 6 miles away from the house. He lived nowhere near San Marcos which is at least 40 miles away.

I appreciate that you likely have the information, but we need a reference. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 19:37, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The office complex is in Northwest Austin, not the south side of town. I work on 183 and could see the smoke from my 4th story office window. --Cdman882 (talk) 19:48, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is not an IRS building. They had an office in the building. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,586581,00.html) And I quote: "An Internal Revenue Service office is located inside the building." We have to be very clear about that, because I have people now e-mailing me freaked out about friends who work for the main IRS complex. We do not need to start that rumor.

Help with request for Wednesday Martin

[edit]

Hi Spiel! Hope you don't mind my reaching out to you; I found your name at WikiProject Books as you're one of the very few still-active editors listed there and also note that you're interested in helping with non-fiction books. I'm looking for help with an edit request for Wednesday Martin, the author of Primates of Park Avenue. On that Talk page, I'm proposing some updates to the Works section of the article to add a full list of her written works and a short mention of her most recent book. While I've left some notes at relevant WikiProjects, I've had trouble finding someone to take a quick look. I do have a financial conflict of interest as I'm proposing the updates as part of my work with Beutler Ink, on behalf of Wednesday Martin. If you have a few minutes, would be you be able to help? Thanks in advance, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 21:35, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, just wanted to let you know that another editor has looked at this request. I will have a few more requests for the article, so if you're interested, definitely do take a peek at the Talk page. Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 16:36, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Rosamund Grosvenor moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Rosamund Grosvenor, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. JSFarmanJSFarman|talk]]) 01:17, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I’m not done yet. I just started like ten minutes ago. Spiel (talk) 01:24, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It was published in the mainspace, which I don't think was what you intended. JSFarman (talk) 01:42, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is no submit button at the top of the page. I have been working with Wikipedia for years and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. Is this a new rule? Spiel (talk) 04:37, 27 December 2021 (UTC)JSFarman (talk) 05:44, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The first message is a template; apologies for not being more specific.
I moved the article because I thought you had unintentionally published it -- it looked like a work-in-progress. I removed the submit button from the draft because you don't need to submit the article when you're finished with it - you can just move it back to the mainspace. JSFarman (talk) 05:44, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Some of the content you included in the above draft appears to have been copied from http://www.westendatwar.org.uk/page/incident3?path=0p28p, which is not released under a compatible license. Copying text directly from a source is a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, a little content had to be removed. Content you add to Wikipedia should be written in your own words. Please let me know if you have any questions. — Diannaa (talk) 15:30, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, it was. That’s why it is in quotation marks. Because it is a quote from a member of the BBC. Spiel (talk) 20:57, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't actually remove the quote. I removed the phrase "and became one of the deadliest V1 attacks of the war" and modified the phrase "A BBC employee described the scene" to read "The BBC said"— Diannaa (talk) 23:50, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I will put more work into it. Although, might I add, I have already spent about 30+ hours on this page. In all my years of editing on Wikipedia, I have never spent more time not had more trouble posting an edit or making a page. At some point, I would think the amount of time everyone (including myself) is putting into it would far exceed the small issues it might have.

Honestly, she was the girlfriend of Vita Sackville-West. That's her biggest input to world history. It shaped many lives including Virginia Woolf and her footprint left on the world, while small, was important in the subject of feministic British literature of the early-20th century.

I don't understand why so many have spent so much time focused on this page. That's not a criticism and I am not, by any means, pooh-poohing the amount and quality of work you do with Wikipedia. I inderstand how committed you guys are and thank you for that work.

I guess I am just stunned that so many people seem so committed to spending this amount of time on Vita's girlfriend. Spiel (talk) 02:12, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:NZ booklovers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 03:07, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I do want to make one final comment about this. I pulled the information from the Netherlands wiki page. I translated it with Google and then made sure the translation was readable. Do you not allow English translations of other wiki pages? Let me know so I don't do it again.
When you asked for more citations i found more. Then you asked for more and I went to look through books most notably one written by Vita. At the end, I think I had 10-15 citations, inter wiki linking, and external links. The page was long and descriptive with information that fully supported it.
I understand some people might not think Rosamund was an important person, but she was. Just because she wasn't a great writer or artist, she played a very important role in the history of the Ton in London and also a role with the life of Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West as well as the futures of several Londoners.
I just don't understand what I did wrong. Please please please let me know where I went wrong on the info on that page. I've never had any problems like that before or sense. It was so weird. No matter what I did, I couldn't make the head editor happy. Spiel (talk) 03:40, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Céline article

[edit]

Hello there

I reverted your edits because the source doesn't support the statement. Nordling visited Céline in Denmark and wrote a letter of support for Céline for his first trial. Dozens of others did so as well, and I don't see why Nordling should be singled out. Nordling is hardly mentioned in any of the major biographies of Céline and I don't think being one of dozens of people who wrote letters of support at his trial qualifies him to have such a prominent place in a summary article about Céline. By the way, he was Swedish, not French. Happy to discuss. Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 09:48, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I got this information from the wiki Nord page. It seems like it was a good citation from there. Spiel (talk) 11:08, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
