A quick tip on team playing for User:EuroCarGT. By all means seek to help new editors contribute consistently with Wiki norms, but remember two things: (1) your own criticisms and tastes are subject to countercriticisms and opinions; (2) all Wiki editors are presumed to be equals: volunteers, not experts.
In this case, it looks to this middle aged academic as if one undergrad with good intentions has scared away a genuine contributor. So I'd recommend: Be careful with editing text, but be extra-careful "editing" editors. Treat everyone as though they are your superior, let them surprise you pleasantly if they find your assistance to be valuable.
