Let's assume good faith
[edit]Look, I am not doing this because I get some pleasure out of doing this. There are various reasons why I am doing this:
- Wikipedia is an organic website and what people write about something in an article needs to be discussed first before further changes are made on the subject. You did not discuss any of the changes you made. You just deleted the whole article.
- The controversies section was one that held the most importance, relevance and factual content to it and you removed it as well. Many administrators on the Wikipedia are starting to dislike this move and some have taken notice of the deliberate spamming.
- I am a Pakistani and I care as much about the pageant's success and appreciation as any progressive Pakistani would. Believe me, criticism helps and highlighting criticism and controversies make the content of the article suitable for it to consideration by the Wikipedia administrators for things like Wikipedia's Did You Know? section.
- Last but not the least, as I said earlier I can help you. I am not Nadia Khan, if you get what I mean!
Thanks for taking time to read this, Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 07:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Totally understandable. Please put all your critisism under Controversies section. It helps the people know as well.
- Secondly, do not call it unofficial because the government has not done any such statement yet. When it legally announces please go ahead and do so.
- Please as I said the article was the truth and is not hearsay, so add as much controversy you want to add BUT it should be done under the rigth heading... only because the whole history of the pageant was hidden and therefore the only thing you did was highlight the controversy. This pageant is about a lot of things plus the controversy, but everything has a heading.
- thanks. Unsigned comment by Sonisona (talk)
- I couldn't agree more but please read the talks on the article's talk page as well. I have addressed more concerns there. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 22:57, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 23:57, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Please stop taking my name when I haven't done anything
[edit]Note that the changes that have been happening on the article have been made by other users with separate accounts. Some in this instance bothered by the same thing I am bothered with and that is the subject's dealing with authenticity. I believe it is what the website says but when it comes to encyclopaedias, things need to be written with neutrality. You can check these changes by clicking on the "history" button on the top of the article page.
The way you write it is like saying, "Colgate makes teeth whiter" and "Close-up makes teeth whiter" where if one of them is written, then we are stuck with a false positive stating the other is wrong. You suggest that the admissions have increased stating "15% increase since 2006, and a 412% increase since the pageant's formation" where there is no source provided, hence the term is stated a false positive. See section improvement discussion on the Miss Pakistan page for more help. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 01:49, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes sure... you can delete the %centage as welll
[edit]The pecentage part you can delete... but now that I see the article... almost everythign is questioned... Its a bit amazing why though .... anyways... you can question and delete the percentage,.. as I dont agree with the numbers... but if there is citation required.. i can attach some youtube videos... so how do we do that then when its not allowed.... --Sonisona (talk) 04:46, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- Look, for Pakistani articles, we have workgroups that work for the maximum quality of articles. We work for Pakistani articles to highlight their importance. If you go to the article's talk page, you will see their Importance in the banner at the top. Only registered Pakistani Wikipedians who belong to the workgroup are to modify that.
- Secondly, we only look for articles that have notability to some degree and make them notable by citing. Wikipedia is strict with rules and we have to be to. If this article remained uncited for just a bit more, it would have had been deleted. I apologise if I used harsh measures for you to take notice but this is not an easy task. Anyway, I hope that the article remains progressing towards a better, much more informative version of itself. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 05:23, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, I forgot to tell you. Once you have added all the references for the article, they would be submitted for a third-party consideration to check for validation. Like I said there are some links that are not acceptable. By the way, I found a website called VidPK or ChaltaTV which you can reference on Wikipedia as it is not YouTube, i.e., if you can find your videos there or if there is a way you can upload your videos there. Plus these websites are more famous with Pakistanis. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 05:26, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

The article is well written
[edit]This article is well return... as I dont think that every section of this article needs to have a controversy. I think this is a huge part played by ARUN to actually show this article as much controversial as possible. The pageant is not supposed to be just for controversy.
The main objectives of the company are not written or highlighted. A handful of Pakistanis like ARUN have a certain agenda to follow, to defame once again. The headline for Controvery is well written but ofcourse needs clean up. Unfortunately... whether the article is deleted or not.... there will be a good number of people who will keep on making the right corrections and bringing the article up to date as it is now.
Also this note is for all Wikipedia users. The Controversy section should have the controversy lined. Anything related to ballant advertizing can be removed. But so much negativity all over the article is not acceptable. The pageant has done far more, and the sites are included in the Reference part.
The reason people are now saying that this is advertising is because all they want to highlight is the negativity.
But what I fail to understand is that entire format was disturbed in this article.... the pictures were deleted... etc... The article looked pretty but all the time bold and highlighted quotes were added. Why are teh quotes highlighted in larger and bolder text. The reason behind this is again to show only the controversial part of this pageant.
Please check Miss World as well as Miss Earth. So much controversy is there with Miss Earth when it had the first Miss Afghanistan in a bikini plus Miss World where in Nigeria so many people died as well as when Miss World happned in india... yet the controversies are not highlighted.
As I said ARun this article can be deleted, it is better that way rather than do what you are good at trying to have a personal agenda to defame a pageant... Where have you highlighted what pageants they did.. do u know how many titles they have won... and what charities they go.. No, ARUN you have not done any of your research,.
Well then let the best person win.... I dontthink your highlighting that this article is to be deleted.. makes any difference... also what do you think that our hands are tired... we will still write articles that make sense according to the wikipedia standards like we contributed before, also the material is saved and no matter if the article is deleted.... there will be contributors like me and a hundred more...who will bring out the things the pageant has done.
And why do you think that only a person working for the company can write these articles... i never assumed that you were Nadia Khan.... so why do u assume it. I did find out that Daniel sdid contriute articles but does not work for them any more....
So I dont know where you get your facts from.... but learn how to write a neutral article... you were not there for racist comments... see if the news is credible... like that any and every lollywood or bollywood star's bio would be 10 pages long...

- Please kindly refrain from attacking me with accusations while being unaware of who's doing what. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 22:47, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
No one is attacking but the facts speak for it self
[edit]Time and time again you have deleted teh entire body of the article... you have made controversies bolder and bigger in text... I did check other articles of pageants and no one have such formats liket eh one youhave created.
not only that, you have only added to the controversy and then each and every paragraph of the pageant had only the controversy added to it.
Miss World - nigeria hundreds died in christian muslim riots... pageant had to move to Uk, Amitabh Bachan became bankrupt after he held Miss World in India as for the protests...
Miss Earth - first Miss Afghanistan who got a Fatwah (death penalty ) from the religious leaders..
All this has happened... yet no one has ever written all that under those Wikipedia sites...
If you are such a great contributor.. then why not correct everythign...
The bottom line seems that you have a hidden agenda... as I said, I rather see this artivcle deleted then people like you write only what youhave heard from a not so credible channel... that too on a talk show which is not the authentic news of GEO TV. GEO TV did never report it as a news.. it was a talk show, like JAY LENO SHOW or DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW. So if these people make a comment... about someone will that be taken as NEWS or credible...
You have taken this to extremes... and therefore done it to only defame this pageant...
All your citations are 100 years old... Please check before you write.. you have written about neelam noorani when she was an independent lady who went from karachi you have quoted 4-5 year old government people.... also please keep inmind if there is a opposition party who is not happy with the President's enlightenment.. they will definitly give their comments...
What comments can be taken seriously and wha tcannot should be thoguht of before they are written.. We cannot write 10 pages of only controversy.. obviously.. there is more to the event than just one Nadia Khan and one Hafeez ur Rahman..
If you thought properly then they have covered 7 years....so there must be soemthing the company did in 7 years...
i am bit disappointed with people like ARUN who are not writing a neutral article... --Sonisona (talk) 07:58, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
- As I already mentioned, please refrain from attacking me with allegations. I would kindly request you to be calm about this issue because the things mentioned above, I never did them. Let us start talking about the things you just mentioned, just to prove that you were wrong:
- You said, "Time and time again you have deleted teh entire body of the article... you have made controversies bolder and bigger in text... I did check other articles of pageants and no one have such formats liket eh one youhave created."
Now, first of all, I never deleted your article over and over again only enhanced the article. First edit I made was to remove the name in Hindi and provided an edit summary for it (unlike you). Then, I let the pageant history be as it is and changed only the criticism section. Because, the article was written like an advertisement, I added a notice on top. Finally I removed all the uncited stuff from the controversies section and added an image of Mahleej. - It was after these edits, that I came to the "History section". There I only copy-edited stuff which means to provide references and correct the English grammar mistakes people had made before me.
- A user named SkyWalker removed the mention of your official blog. Again it wasn't me.
- Then a person using an IP address 77.199.114.57, added a section named "Standard" or "Pageant Image". This section was highly negative. This can NOT be me, as the editor was from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania suggested by the GeoLocate, a tool that lets you know the location of an IP address. I am in the UK on the other hand, miles apart.
- This American was really mad with you guys and changed a lot of good information into negative information, check this. Again it wasn't me.
- If you look carefully these links I gave you, I never made a negative comment about you. It was someone else from America who has a thing against you. HE ADDED THE SECTION FOR "RACIST COMMENTS" AS WELL. But, you just insist on blaming me as well.
- I have told you a hundred times to check THE HISTORY to confirm. All changes made on Wikipedia are stored forever on Wikipedia. The history button is at the top of the article. You will know who did what if you could only CLICK IT ONCE.
- You said, "Time and time again you have deleted teh entire body of the article... you have made controversies bolder and bigger in text... I did check other articles of pageants and no one have such formats liket eh one youhave created."
- I hope you refrain from attacking me like you do to all other people. Nobody has taken notice of your abuse now but people will take note and you and your company will be blocked from using Wikipedia. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 20:57, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I notice that you contested the deletion of Miss Pakistan World on deletion review. However you have not provided any reason why the deletion should be overturned. This is just a note to say that if no reasoning is provided this will be have to be quickly closed as the person who puts something on deletion review must provide a reason for overturning a deletion. Miss Pakistan World and Sonia Ahmed
[edit]Hi, Thanks for our message regarding these articles. My suggestion, as I said on the deletion review for Miss Pakistan World, is to create a user space version (e.g at User:Sonisona/Miss Pakistan World or User:Sonisona/Sonia Ahmed) using the Wikipedia:Amnesia test and paying particular attention to neutral point of view, you can then bring this userspace version back to deletion review where it can be reviewed to see if it is ok to be restored.
In order for them to be restored they will to cite significant coverage in reliable sources and not appear to be promotional. You are quite welcome to invite other editors to help you in creating/editing the userspace articles.
Hope this is helpful and good luck. Davewild (talk) 18:44, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
- What I am saying is that, as I pointed to at the Wikipedia:Amnesia test, is to completely rewrite the article(s) using inline citations and only include material that can be sourced to reliable secondary sources (i.e. sources that have nothing to do with the subject of the article). I am afraid I know nothing about the topic so would not be the best person to help with the article but you may find someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Pakistan who would help. The version you have recreated at User:Sonisona/Miss Pakistan World has very few references which are what you will need in order to persuade people to allow the article to be recreated. Davewild (talk) 07:52, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- I've created a userfied version of the article at User:Sonisona/Sonia Ahmed with the last version of the article before the deletion per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sonia Ahmed on June 19, 2008. Since it was deleted per a discussion and considering that a related article was deleted before then resurrected, it is preferred that if you want to relaunched the article, do the necessary improvements and expansions so that it meets the notability, verifiability and other guidelines - and then submitted it to deletion review or ask an admin to see if it can be resurrected. If not it might be included in the Miss Pakistan World (or other related) article. There is barely a brief mention of her, maybe some extra info can be added there if the Ahmed doesn't return. JForget 20:50, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- As far as references goes, it has improved definitely with some coverage by the New York Times and the Toronto Star and multiple other international third-party references which would I guess pass that WP:N criteria - so it would be restored because of this. Also it is a good thing to wack most of the political bits in the text as part of it was not WP:NPOV. There is some clean-up to do though. Links pointing to sources can be cited using the <ref> and </ref> format as some of the references are already. Now not sure with the other news section, though maybe add more text from these articles to the text or maybe just change the name of the header to other references. Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Sonisona! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 14 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

The article Danish Taimoor has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Unsourced biography. Please add sources before removing this tag. See Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners for help on this.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Kevin (talk) 22:13, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Mrs. United Nations International
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Mrs. United Nations International requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 07:04, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Guide to referencing
[edit]Click on "show" on the right of the orange bar to open contents.
Using references (citations) |
---|
I thought you might find it useful to have some information about references (refs) on wikipedia. These are important to validate your writing and inform the reader. Any editor can remove unreferenced material; and unsubstantiated articles may end up getting deleted, so when you add something to an article, it's highly advisable to also include a reference to say where it came from. Referencing may look daunting, but it's easy enough to do. Here's a guide to getting started. If you need any assistance, let me know. -- Ty 08:15, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
A reference must be accurate, i.e. it must prove the statement in the text. To validate "Mike Brown climbed Everest", it's no good linking to a page about Everest, if Mike Brown isn't mentioned, nor to one on Mike Brown, if it doesn't say that he climbed Everest. You have to link to a source that proves his achievement is true. You must use reliable sources, such as published books, mainstream press, and authorised web sites. Blogs, Myspace, Youtube, fan sites and extreme minority texts are not usually acceptable, nor is original research (e.g. your own unpublished, or self-published, essay or research), or another wikipedia article.
The first thing you have to do is to create a "Notes and references" section (unless it already exists). This goes towards the bottom of the page, below the "See also" section and above the "External links" section. Enter this code:
The next step is to put a reference in the text. Here is the code to do that. It goes at the end of the relevant term, phrase, sentence, or paragraph to which the note refers, and after punctuation such as a full stop, without a space (to prevent separation through line wrap):
Whatever text you put in between these two tags will become visible in the "Notes and references" section as your reference.
Open the edit box for this page, copy the following text (inserting your own text where indicated), paste it at the bottom of the page and save the page:
(End of text to copy and paste.) It should appear like this:
You need to include the information to enable the reader to find your source. For an online newspaper source, it might look like this:
When uploaded, it appears as:
Note the single square brackets around the URL and the article title. The format is:
Make sure there is a space between the URL and the Title. This code results in the URL being hidden and the title showing as a link. Use double apostrophes for the article title (it is quoted text), and two single quote marks either side of the name of the paper (to generate italics). Double square brackets round the name of the paper create an internal link (a wikilink) to the relevant wikipedia article. Apostrophes must go outside the brackets. The date after The Guardian is the date of the newspaper, and the date after "Retrieved on" is the date you accessed the site – useful for searching the web archive in case the link goes dead.
You can use sources which are not online, but which you have found in a library or elsewhere—in which case leave out the information which is not relevant. The newspaper example above would be formatted like this:
When uploaded, it appears as:
Here is an example for a book:
When uploaded, it appears as:
Make sure you put two single quote marks round the title (to generate italics), rather than one double quote mark.
These formats are all acceptable for dates:
You may prefer to use a citation template to compile details of the source. The template goes between the ref tags and you fill out the fields you wish to. Basic templates can be found here: Wikipedia:Template messages/Sources of articles/Citation quick reference
The first time a reference appears in the article, you can give it a simple name in the <ref> code:
The second time you use the same reference in the article, you need only to create a short cut instead of typing it all out again:
You can then use the short cut as many times as you want. Don't forget the /, or it will blank the rest of the article! Some symbols don't work in the ref name, but you'll find out if you use them. The quotes around the name are optional unless there is a space in the name. You can see multiple use of the same refs in action in the article William Bowyer (artist). There are three sources and they are each referenced three times. Each statement in the article has a footnote to show what its source is.
The above method is simple and combines references and notes into one section. A refinement is to put the full details of the references in their own section headed "References", while the notes which apply to them appear in a separate section headed "Notes". The notes can be inserted in the main article text in an abbreviated form as seen in Harriet Arbuthnot or in a full form as in Brown Dog affair.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:35, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
The article Gule Sheikh has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Eeekster (talk) 23:27, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Hi Sonisona, since you solely wrote the above mentioned person's profile, I hope you can help me with this claim. "Bano[14], also did a few music videos for local Norwegian vocalists and participated in local South Asian reality television shows in Norway", can you please mention any of the video or the "local South Asian reality television shows in Norway" which she participated in. I live in Oslo, Norway and find it difficult to accept these claims. Regards Mehmda (talk) 20:09, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
The article Attia Bano Qamar has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Please stop editing this (and her husband's) artilce to indicate that she or her husband are guilty of anything. This contravenes WP:BLP as they have only been charged and must be presumed innocent under US law until found guilty in court. Thank you. Harry the Dog WOOF 08:16, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Edit summaries
[edit] Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. - 220 of Borg 05:17, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Linkrot
[edit]You added bare URLs (Uniform resource locators) as references in your recent edits to Bhoja Air Flight 213. Please avoid doing this. The lack of title, dates, publishers and author/s etc means that if the URL is moved (which is quite common) it is far harder to find the source again. There is a section above on this talkpage about formatting references, please take a look.- 220 of Borg 05:17, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Lollywoodcafe.com
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Lollywoodcafe.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Altered Walter (talk) 14:42, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Meera (Irtiza Rubab), without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Epeefleche (talk) 04:31, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
I thought all was resolved... everything has a link to it. Infact I can add more links today and prove that the article is well cited. --Sonisona 06:55, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
