Speedy deletion of Shakil Ahmad Shakil(Poet)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Shakil Ahmad Shakil(Poet), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. This is ENGLISH Wikipedia

[edit]

Hello - most of your article does not appear to be in English, the language of this encyclopedia. There are other wikipedias in many languages and perhaps your article would be more appropriate there. You removed the tag for speedy deletion without changing the page. Please either translate the page or be aware that it may be deleted for being in a different language, and in a form that can't be evaluated. Alice (talk) 15:29, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good to see stanza breaks - how about an English translation?

[edit]

Hi - I left a note on the talk page for your article. It was helpful to see the stanza breaks. I can't find an online translator for Punjabi - could you provide one? If you don't feel up to making a poetry translation, put a prose literal translation here and I will try to turn it into English poetry. Alice (talk) 16:37, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Shakil Ahmad Shakil(Poet)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Shakil Ahmad Shakil(Poet), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Most of this article is a Punjabi poem. I have tried to get the original editor to at least offer a translation of the poem, and even offered to attempt to use a literal translation to generate an English poetic equivalent. These efforts have not had success and a page that is over 80% Punjabi is not appropriate for English Wikipedia. Alice (talk) 01:04, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Alice (talk) 01:04, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I removed my prod because the Punjabi was removed, and added a stub template. Alice (talk) 15:14, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Shakil Ahmad Shakil

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Shakil Ahmad Shakil requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

This article appears to be a duplicate ofShakil_Ahmad_Shakil(Poet), which has undergone several edits and is now a stub. I support deleting Shakil Ahmad Shakil for that reason, and perhaps moving the original article to add a space between the last name and (poet). Alice (talk) 15:09, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please comment on possible references

[edit]

Hi - I left a note at Talk:Shakil Ahmad Shakil(Poet) with two possible references to Shakil - could you please comment on which if either of them are relevant? Having outside references will help the article hang on long enough to be improved. Alice (talk) 15:13, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
