"Thank you for creating this very detailed draft. However there is insufficient evidence that the subject meets the criteria for a biography on Wikipedia. For example, have any of her books won national or international book awards?"
Thank you for taking the time to review the draft and for your feedback.
The short answer to the question is no.
However, if one surveys the results of book awards bestowed in the countries where Ms. Cosgrave is at work and over the time period when she has published books, they indicate that books about fashion history and costume design have never received these honors. As you know the major awards include Canada’s Governor General’s Award for English Language Non Fiction, the National Book Award in the U.S. and British Non Fiction literary awards.
In publishing, the history of fashion and costume are niche genres.
As the draft demonstrates Ms. Cosgrave has applied her knowledge to work across a range of fields including radio and television broadcasting, documentary and feature films as well as museum curation. Traditionally fashion historians wrote books.
Ms. Cosgrave is the only fashion historian to work as a multidisciplinary professional and doing so she has significantly contributed to the progression of scholarship in these fields.
Made For Each Other is considered a publishing phenomenon because through the 15 years it has been in circulation it remains the definitive work on red carpet fashion culture. It is cited every year in awards season fashion and film journalism featured in the world’s finest newspapers such as the New York Times, the Guardian and the Times of London, leading tabloids such as the New York Post.
The book also established her as a leading commentator for major events including the Met Gala and the Royal Weddings of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2018 and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.
The Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences utilizes the book as a reference tool.
Costume and Fashion: A Complete History revived a seminal fashion history book authored by James Laver. Mr. Laver is described as the man who “made the study of costume respectable."
Ms. Cosgrave’s discovery of EON Production’s archive resulted in her curating the largest James Bond museum exhibition ever staged, with the Oscar winning costume designer Lindy Hemming. The exhibition broke box office records and toured the world for five years.
Ms. Cosgrave has produced award-winning documentaries. In 2018, Larger Than Life: The Kevyn Aucoin Story received the Best Documentary Film prize at the 2018 Female Eye Film Festival and Best Louisiana Documentary Feature award at the Louisiana International Film Festival. In 2019, The Queen’s New Clothes received the Audience Award at the Dallas International Film Festival. As a producer of these films, Ms. Cosgrave was integral in securing their global distribution.
After surveying Wikipedia entries created for a number of fashion journalists and historians, it appears that the books have not been recognized with awards.
These include pages for Amber Butchart, Pamela Golbin, Aileen Ribeiro, Sandy Schreier, Cameron Silver, Valerie Steele, Plum Sykes and Richard and Thompson Ford.
A number of the books featured on the pages have appeared on short lists published by important newspapers, like a number of books written by Ms. Cosgrave.
Please let me know if you require any further information to substantiate Ms. Cosgrave’s position as an unrivaled authority in her field.
