Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; however, please remember the essential rule of respecting copyrights. Edits to Wikipedia, such as your edit to the page Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, may not contain material from copyrighted sources unless that text is available under a suitable free license. It is almost never okay to copy extensive text out of a book or website and paste it into a Wikipedia article with little or no alteration, though you can clearly and briefly quote copyrighted text in the right circumstances. Content that does not comply with this legal rule must be removed. For more information on this, see:

If you still have questions, there is the Teahouse, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page and someone will be along to answer it shortly. As you get started, you may find the pages below to be helpful.

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! — Diannaa (talk) 14:07, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion

[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 14:58, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 15:59, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for this. I will be sure to keep this in mind to make sure edits are not mistake for promotional material going forward. Shodes97 (talk) 13:44, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your edit to Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for information on how to contribute your work appropriately. For legal reasons, Wikipedia strictly cannot host copyrighted text or images from print media or digital platforms without an appropriate and verifiable license. Contributions infringing on copyright will be removed. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 14:56, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphrasing is considered plagiarism and a copyright violation. The following paragraph:

As a child, Oyun-Erdene struggled with a severe speech impediment until the age of five, when he overcame it with the patient guidance of his grandfather. His grandfather, a respected Buddhist abbot, chess master, and teacher of mathematics and Mongolian language, passed down the patronymic Luvsannamsrai to him.

is nearly identical to the source:

He had a severe speech impediment until he was 5 years old, but overcame it with the patient coaxing of his grandfather—a renowned Buddhist abbot, chess master and instructor of mathematics and Mongolian language—from whom he adopted the patronymic Luvsannamsrai.

This is textbook plagiarism. Please improve your editing. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 14:58, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable non-free use File:Mongolia PM.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mongolia PM.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Note: There is actually a free version of this image, File:Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, Prime Minister of Mongolia at The Pentagon, USA on August 3, 2023 - 230803-D-PM193-1317 (cropped).jpg, so this non-free version of the image is not necessary. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Appeal

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Shodes97 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

My conduct is not connected in any way with the block and was not necessary as I only have one account and have only been using this account. Other accounts have edited a page with my original edits that had been reverted however these edits have not been made by me. In sum, there has been no sockpuppetry on my part and therefore my account should be unblocked. Many thanks Shodes97 (talk) 12:59 am, 3 January 2025, last Friday (2 days ago) (UTC−9)

Decline reason:

As i told another person in this group, the technical evidence apparently does support your contention that you are different people, but the behavioral evidence strongly supports the idea that there is some sort of off-wiki coordination going on between these accounts. It simply is not believeable that you all coincidentally started Wikipedia accounts at almost the same time to edit one single biographical article. Collaboration on Wikipedia is supposed to take place on Wikipedia, publicly and tranparently. That is how collaboration works here, not... whatever it is you and these other accounts have seemingly been doing. You are free to file a new unblock request that adresses these issues. Beeblebrox Beebletalks 21:09, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi there! I have moved your appeal into the unblock request. If you need to request another unblock in the future, please add your rationale in the location that states, "Your reason here". Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 22:38, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
