DYK Nomination of Battle of Marilao River
[edit]The article Battle of Marilao River was not new. It was an old article created April 6, 2012. I expanded it two days ago by more than five times. Isn't that in the eligibility criteria that an old article with references be expanded five times to be DYK material?

- (talk page stalker)I think the issue can be dealt by adding some biosphere reserves that are still not declared as such by UNESCO. Like Palas valley ([1]) --SMS Talk 21:56, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- Will add other reserves not recognized by UNESCO. Do you have other sources? My search usually comes up with other protected areas or Lal Suhanra. Samar Talk 07:02, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
- This document of UNESCO says Indus delta was expected to be nominated in 2001. Its bad, I couldn't find further sources for any other potential site, though we do have many in our country. --SMS Talk 20:11, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, no worries about the restoring of content. Though I do think you should maybe read Wikipedia:Red link. Red links can help to improve the encyclopedia by encouraging people to write articles about notable topics. Template:Protected areas of Pakistan
[edit]While I appreciate how you've given Template:Protected areas of Pakistan a new look, don't you think it would be better to leave the red links in the template? That way, others can create articles on them. Removing the links does not help with identifying missing articles (unless you go through the template's history). Same goes for Template:Dams in Pakistan, I believe this version was better since it listed all dams in the country which is what a dams template should do. Red links are not necessarily a bad thing. Mar4d (talk) 15:39, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- PS. By the way, your work on geography-related articles is just awesome. The amount of effort put into this article is amazing. I'm very impressed. Mar4d (talk) 15:41, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- Needless to say I dislike the look of redlinks, puts me off. I felt missing articles can be identified from the main article and inducted in the template when created. But that is my view and I did not consider the article creation aspect. I wouldn't argue if you add the redlinks again. But there were too many and were overwhelming the navigation template. If you have time we can create a stub on each? Samar Talk 16:16, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- I understand. I'm not a big fan of red links either, but at the end of the day, it is just demonstrative of an inherent flaw of Wikipedia: that this encyclopedia is a work in progress ;) And the best way to counter that flaw is to work on it by creating such articles. I had not noticed before that those missing articles are listed in their respective main articles - that is fine actually, as long as there's a list of them somewhere, it's all good because these red links are what help in creating articles after all. I guess I'll let it go for now and the template can just stay as it is for the time being. As for your last question, depending on how much spare time I get, I can't promise much on stub creations at the moment :( I'll let you know if I do ever get on board. Meanwhile, good luck with all the work you're doing, I hope you continue it. Mar4d (talk) 16:51, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
