Question from the November copyediting drive
I am totally and utterly grateful for the stars I've received on this last campaign, and it truly fun. However, I left Diannaa a message about this on her talk page and Utahraptor doesn't know so here goes: While I counted the number of articles I edited during the drive, in the last twenty or so entries I left out word counts. Do these not count if they were not done during the drive? I'm still tallying. Thanks --Aichikawa (talk) 19:24, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm so glad you had fun, that's good to hear. You are supposed to do a word count before you start the article. You can still do this if you go back in the article's history to before you started, and do the word count from there. You are also supposed to update yourself on the leaderboard for total words. Actually, you would have knocked me off the board for the word count. Can you please update your numbers for the word count and then let me know? We will give you credit for your efforts with the word count. Cheers, and great job on all the copyediting! – SMasters (talk) 09:15, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I just re-read your post. Please do not add any articles after 30 November. Anything done in November is fine but not after. Thanks. – SMasters (talk) 09:25, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Okay I've updated, and for November obviously, nothing afterwards. Thanks for your help.--Aichikawa (talk) 21:32, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
USRD Project Triple Crown
The U.S. Roads WikiProject has been eligible for a project-level TC since 2008. I've tried at various times to get the award awarded, but Durova never did it. The project members with TC awards in the listing are:
- Mitchazenia
- Moabdave (formerly Davemeistermoab)
- Scott5114
- NE2
- Juliancolton
- Admrboltz
- Holderca1
- TheCatalyst31
- myself, Imzadi1979
Additionally I have nominated Algorerhythms for the Imperial Triple Crown Jewels for which he is eligible. Rschen7754 is eligible for a Valiant Return TC, IMHO. He received DYK credit for Interstate 15 in Arizona (TP notice, RA); GA for California State Route 78 (diff, GAN) ; FA for California State Route 78 (FAC). All of these contributions were after an ArbCom sanction in the Highways 1 case. He doesn't know if his DYK credit counts, and if not, he's planning on making a DYK nomination over the holiday break between school semesters. Any consideration for this award, and the further nominations is appreciated. Imzadi 1979 → 08:41, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note, and I sorry that it has taken this long for your application. Due to prolonged waiting times for WP:CROWN, I have taken over the promotion process. For project level TC, please put in a fresh application, using this format. Of course, you need to provide all the diffs and refs so that I can check the entries. For the other non-project (individual) TCs, please put in fresh entries in the required format and I will look into it. I try to process individual TCs within a week and project TCs within 2 weeks. So, If all goes well, everyone should have their TCs within a couple of weeks. – SMasters (talk) 09:00, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, forgot to mention, please put all nominations at WP:CROWN/NOM and not on my talk page. Cheers. – SMasters (talk) 09:35, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Then please update the instructions, which said that I had to make the nomination here, which is what I did. Imzadi 1979 → 09:38, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Done, sorry the instructions were not very clear. It said to inquire, but I did not expect the actual entry to be placed here as well. It is good to have it there, as then, there will be a record of it on the TC pages. Cheers. – SMasters (talk) 09:45, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, please reword it, and reconsider. Valiant return TCs were never done through the regular channels because then that placed the nature of the sanctions into a public location, when all that's important is that the sanctions were levied and then the TC activities came about. Second, the nomination page does not have the instructions for the special nominations on it. (Plus, you do realize that except for the two new nominations, all of the project members' awards are in the list and vetted/awarded already?) Imzadi 1979 → 09:49, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, I'm just trying to help here. There's no need to bite! – SMasters (talk) 09:55, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not biting. Yes, I'm upset. I came here as directed and gave you all of the information you needed, even going so far as to copy and paste our project members' listings out of the award lists for you as you asked. You blanked the information completely. I had to dig it out of the page history and paste it someplace else, when in at least one case, there was a valid reason why Durova and others never sent those special nominations into the regular page. They were handled by her directly to help have a measure of discretion in the case of the valiant return TCs. The special WikiProject TCs also go to a project with at least five TC-bearing members, who are already listed, and the project gets a special graphic award. USRD has been waiting since October 2008 for that award. The members' awards have been vetted already with the exception of the two addition, one of which is a valiant return. Any uninvolved editor is supposed to be able to verify and award the awards, so now anyone interested in helping is being sent to an old ArbCom case to verify sanctions and such on an editor currently in good standing. That's why I'm upset by this. If anyone got bit, it was me when my work was summarily blanked after it was requested. Imzadi 1979 → 10:13, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Put yourself in my shoes. Yes, I understand you're upset. You've been waiting since 2008. Hell, I'd be upset too. But I'm here to hep. I already said it will all be resolved within 2 weeks. I blanked it because this is my private talk page. You can go to the page history and copy and paste. Is that so hard? If you are in my shoes, you will think gee, try to help and get shot? Why bother? Please, let's try to be civil about this. Cheers & peace. – SMasters (talk) 15:14, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Lunalet's harassment
Hello, I have created a draft ANI notice here. I was wondering if you thought I should post it on WP:ANI, since I feel that Lunalet's harassment has gone waaaay too far. (Diannaa noted on her talk page that she may want an uninvolved admin to look over this issue.) Reaper Eternal (talk) 02:51, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Have replied on Diannaa's page. Thanks! – SMasters (talk) 02:58, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Guild of Copy Editors Coordinator election
Do you think we should send a note out thanking all those who voted in the Coordinator election? The UtahraptorTalk/Contribs 00:08, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think it's needed. See what Diannaa thinks. We will be doing our final newsletter for 2010 soon. We can always include something there. And BTW, congrats! :-) – SMasters (talk) 00:14, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- Can you help tally the votes? It should be broken down to: Lead: [No.] / Coordinator: [No.]. After that we need to copyedit to past tense and put a do not modify notice on the page, with the results stated at the top. I need to pop out for a bit but will be back soon. – SMasters (talk) 00:23, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- If it is not specified, we should assume it is for the lead. SMasters (talk) 00:29, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- I think we got all the pages updated. I have to go to the gym so ttyl. Oh, and congratulations on your new post! :)) Super excellent result. --Diannaa (Talk) 01:27, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

- Thanks! Good luck with that. Not sure if another PR is needed, but let me know when the FAC starts and I will try to help if I can. – SMasters (talk) 04:11, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

OOOOOPS!!!
I can't see how on earth I hit the rollback button on UtahRaptor's post. I didn't even see I had done it. Sorry! It's a good thing I'm not a sysop and bumped "block", though ;) . Reaper Eternal (talk) 03:11, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Newsletter
I have begun developing the end-of-year GOCE newsletter here. Feel free to make any changes you feel necessary. The UtahraptorTalk/Contribs 00:44, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- I was looking at the Request page archive, and the farthest back it goes is September. I want to know how many requests we have fulfilled this year, so is there any way to count requests that aren't in the archive? The UtahraptorTalk/Contribs 03:17, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- The archiving is also new, so that can go into the news as well. Because we didn't archive before that time, the only way to check is manually, which will be extremely time consuming. If anyone plans to do this, then they might as well update the archive page at the same time. You can also check the page for the first drive, where you will see a starting figure for outstanding requests. That first drive reduced that figure to zero. – SMasters (talk) 03:22, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- I don't feel it's a good use of our time to reconstruct the archive for the whole year. Let's just leave 2010 as a partial year and you can make your best guess for fulfilled requests for the year based on the data we have. My estimate would be 300-400 requests --Diannaa (Talk) 03:30, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- So, I see we all stalk each other's talk pages LOL. Yes, I agree. We can mention the "start figure" from the first drive. It was quite an achievement to clean the slate with that first drive. – SMasters (talk) 03:36, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Copy-edit follow-up
Greetings! You mentioned before that you'd be willing to help out with The Last Dog on Earth if it needed some more attention. If it isn't any trouble, could you go through it once more? Content has been added after the peer review, and I feel that the plot section in particular needs some clean-up. If you are unable to, it's totally fine--I will simply make a new request. WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 22:51, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, I will try to look at it but please put it on the GOCE requests page anyway so that there is a record there. Thanks. – SMasters (talk) 12:07, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you. I'll go ahead and do it. WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 15:53, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
