Welcome!
[edit]Hi RowanneMusic, and welcome to Wikipedia! I've written some advice on editing here for students in Prof. Jackson's similar classes at Longy School of Music which you might find helpful. You'll find it here. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page (User talk:Voceditenore), or place {{helpme}} here on your talk page, ask your question, and another editor will come along to help. When you leave a message here or on any other talk page, be sure to sign it by typing ~~~~ (4 tildes with no spaces between them) at the end. When you click save, the Wikipedia software will automatically convert that show your user name and your talk page (with links to them) as well as the date and time when you signed. WP:SIGN has more about all the ins and outs of that.
You might also be interested in WikiProject Classical music and WikiProject Composers. They have various guidelines for articles in this area and talk pages where you can ask advice from editors experienced in writing articles on classical music and related subjects. Draft:Lebanese record labels
[edit]I understand that it can be frustrating when you first attempt at creating an article is declined. The basic premise of any article is that it should be referenced demonstrating significant coverage in multiple independent reliable secondary sources. The first reference in your draft refers directly to the Revolver homepage not the specific article which I think is this one. The main problem with this reference is that Revolver is an 'open source' which effectively any editor can contribute their views/opinions without any independent editorial oversight and therefore not necessarily an acceptable source. The second reference doesn't appear to even mention record labels only the Lebanese music scene. The third reference also talks generally about music in Lebanon but doesn't make any mention of the country's record labels.
I think that at this stage you are probably better making edits to the existing article, Music of Lebanon, as there is insufficient references/sources for a separate article on Lebanon's record labels. If you have any more queries I'd be happy to try and help you out. Good luck and don't be discouraged from editing... Dan arndt (talk) 03:33, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
THANK YOU
[edit]Thank you soooo much Dan for helping me out!!! This is super helpful, I'll be fixing my article and adding it to Music of Lebanon Thank you again, I really appreciate it, I'll definitely ask you if I have any other questions, All the best RowanneMusic (talk) 15:54, 6 April 2020 (UTC)RowanneMusic
- Hi Rowanne. I had come here to give basically the same good advice that Dan arndt did. I suggest you develop what you've written a bit more and then add it as a section to Music of Lebanon. It would also be a good idea not to concentrate solely on the pop scene and include, for example, the early Baidaphon label, about which quite a lot has been written [1] and possibly other world music labels in Lebabnon. Forward Music might give you hints for further sources. Sourcing is key. Wikipedia does not publish original research. It summarizes what has been written and published in reliable independent sources such as books, newspapers, and magazines. As Dan said, you need to strictly avoid sources with user-generated content or self-published amateur websites. Check out the content here for much better sourcing. Another tip, strictly avoid evaluative adjectives such as "renowned". Also avoid expressions like "biggest", "most important", etc. unless you have a reliable published source to back up such assertions. I'll keep an eye on your draft to see how it's coming along. If you have more questions as you go along, just give me a shout. Best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 15:59, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
