Speedy deletion nomination of WNPE (disambiguation)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on WNPE (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Knowing your interest in all things regional, could you do me a favour and take a look at the lead section for this article? There's a POV-pushing IP who seems to want his own way and to be honest I'm probably past 3RR so a fresh pair of eyes would be really useful to expand the lead out to something better. Thanks in advance. 10mmsocket (talk) 15:47, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
List of Medal of Honor recipients for the Battle of the Wilderness
Rodw - Thank you for the fix on List of Medal of Honor recipients for the Battle of the Wilderness. It looks to me like you have made a lot of Lists. Is this one very far away from AL or FL? Is there anything that stands out that still needs to be done to it? Thanks TwoScars (talk) 16:16, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- It's looking good - the only thing that jumped out at me is that there are no wikiprojects attached (but this is not a requirement for FL). I don't know what AL is.— Rod talk 16:21, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. It will eventually have WikiProject Military history attached. I am also working on improving Battle of the Wilderness to Good Article (in one of my sandboxes), and it will link to the List. TwoScars (talk) 21:23, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- Wikiproject Military history has an A-Class rating for lists. TwoScars (talk) 23:53, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to know if the program that detects vandalism in the Spanish Wikipedia is working today, I checked an article from an American town Myrtle Point and I realized that it was vandalized for 2 months https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Especial:MobileDiff/136503460 Nasty bits (talk) 02:16, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

Max Staegemann
Hello, Rodw!
I was wondering if you could elaborate upon your recent edit of this article.
The sentence is a bit unidiomatic, and I was about to edit it, but I wasn't sure what the DN tag refers to, the Wikilink or the statement, and what needs help. Thanks! Matuko (talk) 19:55, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
- On Max Staegemann, the sentence "He was particularly in demand as Marschner- and Wagner-interpret." links "interpret" to "Interpretation (music)" which redirects to Musical performance. Which type of Musical performance is intended for the link?— Rod talk 19:59, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello Rodw! I had to change part of your edition in Luís Gama: since he was a Brazilian, the desambig was more Republicanism than Republican Party (United States). Thanks, Erick Soares3 (talk) 13:12, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

- It is not about sources. In the family tree "Descendents of Georgian Kings" there is a link to Haos which redirects to Haik. This links to a list which includes 2 places (Hek, Yazd, Hayq, Ethiopia), lots of people (including Hayk of armenia) and others including Haik (garment). What I am requesting is that the link point to the specific article for "Haos" child of Thargamos (2716 BC). The same is true of Arg which links to the disambiguation page Argus with lots of people and other things. This is not useful to the reader - it is much better if the link is to the specific person but I am unable to identify the right person (? - Your message is clear. thanks. I repeat that I followed the instructions and corrected Hayk (georgian chronicles: =Haos) and Argus (georgian chronicles: =Arg). Correctable of Azo of Iberia
The article reads (Modern interpretation): Moses speaks of "Mithridates, satrap of Darius" (identifiable with Mithridates I of Pontus) installed by Alexander to rule over the Georgians. Darius died in 330 BC, and Mithridates I of Pontus was not born at that time ... Mithridates II of Cius should be written here, because during his transfer (302 BC) the Kingdom of Iberia was formed. Correction is necessary here. Thanks in advance.--Lasha-george (talk) 17:50, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

Wrestling links
Hello Rodw. Since I came back from the beach, I'm gonna take a look on the wrestling articles. The main problem, I see, is that two IPs linked every name without reason. I changed some of the articles to their previous versions. Can you tell me which of them still with the same problem? Thanks --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 13:31, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
- Welcome back. Most of them seem to have been fixed. You could look at the various listing tools linked from Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links#Tools and reports but they don't get sorted by topic area. A few I am aware of (which include one or more links to a dab page):

Continuo
I didn't watch what happened but am afraid that many more people who link Continuo mean Basso continuo, not any of the other options. As even our article says. "Continuo" should be bolded in Basso continuo and be a redirect, the other could be a dab if we really need it for just 3 items. Help? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:04, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- You could argue for Basso continuo to be the primary topic (see WP:DPT) but that generally involves looking at traffic stats etc & I tend not to get involved in that.— Rod talk 11:10, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- I also tend not to get involved with that, so understand. Once I have time I might ask Classical music. Common sense: Basso continuo had more than 100 pageviews per day recently, Continuo (album) and Continuo (game) both not even 10. Number of links probably same direction, but I'm hungry ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:22, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
WikiCup 2021 September newsletter
The fourth round of the competition has finished with over 500 points being required to qualify for the final round. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants, The Rambling Man and Epicgenius, each scoring over 3000 points, and six contestants scoring over 1000. All but one of the finalists achieved one or more FAs during the round, the exception being Bloom6132 who demonstrated that 61 "in the news" items produces an impressive number of points. Other contestants who made it to the final are Gog the Mild, Lee Vilenski, BennyOnTheLoose, Amakuru and Hog Farm. However, all their points are now swept away and everyone starts afresh in the final round.
Round 4 saw the achievement of 18 featured articles and 157 good articles. Bilorv scored for a 25-article good topic on Black Mirror but narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final round. There was enthusiasm for FARs, with 89 being performed, and there were 63 GARs and around 100 DYKs during the round. As we start round 5, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it to the final round; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For other contestants, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.
If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Hello sir
Hello sir I am Tsims23 I make a lot of MMA content on the site I have seen that you have helped edit my stuff before and also seem to be a very reputable editor on the site I am currently having some issues in terms of other editors everyone who is new seems to have a completely different idea of what standards are. Anyway I made a gym page for adrenaline MMA and fitness however it was moved to drafts... Initially it was stated that I was writing it too much like a commercial which I didn't understand so I changed the parts that they asked me to change. It was fine for the guy who put it initially he was satisfied but then someone else is like oh your references aren't good I have 29 references on the page and yes a lot of them are secondary references so that I can reference information that has been stated or people would remove it, I have six solid core references that are legitimate and to me they pass community guidelines. (It's very frustrating because she said that it can't just be a passing mentioned when in many of the articles it's not it's talked about frequently and in depth I swear they're just not even reading it... A lady also said that interview articles are not legitimate maybe a full interview but I couldn't find any rules it says that media in all forms is acceptable I couldn't find anything about interviews and she didn't defend her point on it either) anyway I was wondering if maybe I could send you some of my references and you could tell me whether you believe them to be legitimate or not I take the word of a 17-year veteran on Wikipedia as opposed to someone who is only being doing it for 2 years or so thanks again and let me know if you are willing to help me out Tsims23 (talk) 18:10, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021
Hello Rodw,
Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.
Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.
At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.
There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.
Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.
To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here. Sent to 827 users. 04:32, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
Disambiguation pages that I have created by myself
Dear Rodw,
I had done creating the redirects with "(disambiguation)" to the following disambiguation pages I had created by myself: PRPL, SHKP, MPPL, TUH, SCY, BCY, LVJ, LBZ, LPY and WCY. Please do the same for PWW, QBR, QRB and YRK.
Thank you.

A tag has been placed on 4th Reconnaissance Squadron (Disambiguation) (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.
Adekunle Adeyeye
Hi, @Rodw I see you made a small edit at the Adeyeye article. Could you by any chance take a look at the talk page and let me know about what you think of my comments re: reverting? I'd like to get some sort of consensus before I change back. The point of the revert, as I explain there, is to ensure that the citations are not misleading. Reformed
If you come across any more links to Reformed, as you did in Christian Reformed Church in North America, the usual answer will be Reformed tradition; although if the next word is faith, theology or tradition, the same result can be achieved by simply moving the ]] one word to the right.

Hello Rodw.
You reverted my previous edits on List of cities by scientific output citing "disambiguated"
I now updated the table and the cities with the latest reference from Nature.
You can find the reference here: List of cities by scientific output by Nature in the year 2020.
As regarding to Hong Kong. In the Nature Index it clearly cited Hong Kong as part of China mainland, Hong Kong, Macau. Which is why I selected the country code CHN for Hong Kong. If you disagree, please let me know and we can have a discussion about it.
Thank you.

- I didn't revert your edits. By adding "disambiguation needed" I was not adding a citation I was asking which of several articles a link should point to. Looking at the current list:
- Geneve should be Geneva
- Davis could be any one of several places in the USA
- Columbus could be any one of several places in the USA
If you could fix these it would help the reader get to the right article. See Wikipedia:Disambiguation for an explanation.— Rod talk 06:58, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
Understood admins.
Next time, I will make sure to add the associated US state to the cities and correct the names to match the refference.

Hello sir, How are you doing? Recently you visited on a Wikipedia article Shivam Roy Prabhakar, you reviewed it and also made an edit there. You were okay with the notability of the title. But after you, one other user (Junior than you) went there and requested that article for deletion and started a discussion page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shivam Roy Prabhakar. Sir, you are senior than him and you know Wikipedia's policies and guidelines better than him. When you already reviewed the article then how he added 'deletion notice' there at the top of the article. Sir, Do come to discussion page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shivam Roy Prabhakar and let him know that you have already reviewed this article. User:Wiki2abc (talk) 16:23, 01 November 2021 (UTC)
- I have not reviewed it against notability criteria. All I did was disambiguate Kabir Khan to Kabir Khan (director). You need to discuss on the AfD discussion page - if I commented there I may well agree with the deletion proposal but have not reviewed it in enough detail to say.— Rod talk 16:32, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi there. On a lot of history-related pages, you've linked "Afghans" to the modern-day nationality "Afghans" as established in the 19th century, instead of the correct historic ethnonym Afghan (ethnonym) (a synonym for Pashtuns). The former link is modern, post-colonial designation incorporating a vast array of ethnicities, whereas the latter is a historic (and to some degree even modern) synonym for Pasthuns. Could you pay a bit more attention when fixing these links? Basically, if its a history-related subject, link it to Afghan (ethnonym) rather than Afghans. Thank you and keep up the good work! - LouisAragon (talk) 21:46, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up I was trying to do 20th century ones and thought I had left most of the historic ones + those which should probably link to Afghanistan. The list is at Disambig fix list for Afghan if you were king enough to fix any I have got wrong or those that still need disambiguating.— Rod talk 21:52, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Applied Mechanics undid your edits.
Hey
Kinda new to editing. I wrote the "Major Topics" list on the Applied Mechanics page for a university writing project. I based it on this list. So changing the link for structures(mobile) to automotive engineering doesn't cover the the whole topic.
Thanks

- Welcome. the link I changed was from * Structures ([[Vehicle engineering|mobile]]) to * Structures ([[Automotive engineering|mobile]]). If there is a better link please change it. If you think the best link is to the disambiguation page then see WP:INTDAB.— Rod talk 20:22, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

Hello Rodw - I'm very happy (indeed required) to post the above Speedy Delete notices: if you don't want them please just say and I'll untick the box. Ranking by points Speedskating
Hi i think there’s some mistakes. If we reas the rules e very NOC only can earn 3 spots in 1 event if the 3 skaters are in the top 20. In men’s 500 we have 3 russian skaters but the third os in position 21 so he shall be not Q. Thank you and sorry 84.78.249.204 (talk) 16:59, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Mistakes in entry
Sorry in this entry https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_skating_at_the_2022_Winter_Olympics_–_Qualification I think there’s some mistakes in the ranking points because the rules of classification says that’s one NOC can earn 3 qualified skaters in each event only if the 3 skaters are in the top 20 ranking. For example in the 500’s men we have 3 russian skaters but the third os in position 21 so he shall be not qualified. 88.17.10.75 (talk) 19:45, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I have no idea. I would suggest asking at Wikipedia:WikiProject Speed Skating.— Rod talk 19:49, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
Disambiguation needed in citation template
Hi, in this edit you inserted a {{dn}} into a citation template. Unfortunately this causes problems with the performance of the citation template, and in this particular case caused the article to appear in Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors. I dabbed the link, but was so puzzled by the category addition that I asked at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#"Disambiguation needed" adds article to "Harv and Sfn no-target errors". I must admit I hadn't realised it myself but Template:Disambiguation needed/doc does say not to use {{dn}} in citation templates. We live and learn! All the best, DuncanHill (talk) 15:51, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks - I'd never heard of this error before. The edit I made was using Dab Solver, which was developed by Dispenser (see User:Dispenser/Dab solver). I wonder if tweaks could be made there but that editor hasn't edited since March 2020.— Rod talk 16:02, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
- I don't know who to ask about Dab solver either - VP/T is probably your best bet. It's a useful tool. DuncanHill (talk) 16:07, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
