Orphaned non-free media (File:Super 8 Motels.svg)
Thanks for uploading File:Super 8 Motels.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:08, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 17:03, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:The Campers.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:The Campers.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 00:15, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Re Denis Wood bio'
Quick question(s): 1. How do I fix the problem on my wiki-bio of Denis Wood, the page I'm hoping we can subsitute for the current wiki? I thought I closed the code and can't see where my mistake is. 2. How do I upload a photo to accompany my version? 3. Can we get the origional bio' writer to agree to this substitution? How do I do that ... he's unnamed?
Thaks.
Tom Kcoh --Tomkoch (talk) 19:35, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Tom, I'm sorry for my poor responsiveness of late; I've been rather preoccupied with off-wiki matters and haven't been editing much lately. I'll try to answer your questions.
- The mistake at User:Tomkoch/Denis Wood was that you had at least one <ref> statement that wasn't ended by a </ref>. To make things easier, you can just do the following in the future:
- Go to Wikipedia:Upload and follow the instructions there. There are a couple important caveats however.
- Since it's an image for use in a biography, it's more or less an absolute requirement that the image be released under a "free license" (i.e., anyone can use the image for essentially any purpose, and at most they need to attribute the source). The upload information page I linked above explains this further.
- If you don't own the copyright to the image, you'd need get the copyright owner to e-mail the Wikimedia foundation giving an appropriate release (instructions are also on the page I linked above).
- It's not necessary to obtain the original author's consent. Editors do not own their edits nor do they own the pages to which they contribute; while wholesale replacements of articles are uncommon (in most cases editors work together to improve instead of replace), you don't need anyone's permission to do so. That's not to say such a change would stand unopposed, but editors are generally encouraged to be bold in making edits (see WP:BOLD for an explanation of what that means). In the event that someone opposed your edits, and reverted to the prior version, the general strategy would be to discuss the substitution at the article's talk page (in this case, Talk:Denis Wood). In this case though, it's not necessary to obtain a consensus to edit- only if someone opposes your edits.
- I hope this helps, and again I apologize for my slowness to respond to your questions. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 22:58, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

WP:FILMS Coordinator nominations
M17S issue
Just wanted to first say thanks for your help. I'm again at a standstill, and not sure where I should go next. Should I bring this up in the WikiProject Firearms to get some others' opinions on whether this should be included?
I'm finding it hard to deal with "let's discuss" which turns into "let me delete your changes over and over for different reasons each time". Lagaman (talk) 16:14, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, after a fourth try, the edit was again removed, so I posted him on the edit warring noticeboard. I don't see much other choice. Thanks again for trying to help. Lagaman (talk) 20:46, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Jeez. I'm sorry things got to this point. I'm writing a response at the talk page right now, which should hopefully draw a compromise. Also keep in mind that while Nukes has clearly violated WP:3RR, it can be argued that you violated it as well (since the rule covers "partial reverts"). I'd strongly suggest you at least temporarily refrain from editing the article itself (though feel free to continue responding at the talk page). I'm very sorry that you're getting the 3rd degree from editors more experienced than yourself- while you aren't exactly a newcomer, you clearly haven't made a lot of contributions and so Nukes really should be following WP:BITE. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 20:55, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- I was in the process of putting something on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Firearms page asking for others to provide their input. I'd be happy to have a neutral party or parties sort out what's "right" at this point. I found the link and information helpful, so figured sharing it with others was a good idea. I certainly didn't want to engage in such a battle, and was thus trying to just go with what the third-party recommendations were directly. I'm still not quite sure what the objections are to the last revision I did based on the recommendations of User:CrispMuncher. Thanks again. Lagaman (talk) 21:34, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- It probably wouldn't be harmful to try and get more outside opinions from the people at WP:GUNS, and it's probably better to try and get outside involvement sooner rather than later, especially when there seem to be a deadlock.
- As to Nukes' objection to your last version, I don't quite get it either. His/her edit summary suggested that the objection was at least partially on grammatical grounds, but I don't see that as reason to do a partial revert (which is exactly what happened, and the reason Nukes got blocked). According to Nukes' user talk, he/she also claimed that earlier versions constituted a copyright violation in some sense (I disagree), but your last edit to the page was a completely new wording.
- While I'm free to go ahead and edit the article and reinclude information, I'm going to refrain from doing so for now, because I don't think it'd be helpful. I will however go to the talk page in a bit and come up with an alternate wording that'll hopefully satisfy everyone. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 21:45, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, that might not be necessary at this point. Looks like CrispMuncher has taken the initiative to re-add the information. I think the wording is pretty satisfactory so I'm not going to say anything else for now. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 21:48, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

TOV letter
Thanks for pointing me to that. I've been winging it each time. I'll definitely bookmark that. You may be interested in User:Toddst1/infobox/tovauthorities that I created a while ago. Picture
If this was true, then why is there a cut-out drawing on the Vagina page? Please explain.
-Axmann8 (Talk) 22:20, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- Because there's apparently a consensus at vagina to have the first image be an anatomical diagram. By the way, not to be rude, but it would have been far more appropriate for you to ask this at Talk:Penis than my own talk page. It surely would have been answered sooner, and all the conversation would have been in one place. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 23:53, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Re: That message on my talk page
I'm currently engaged in something off wiki that requires my clipboard, so I can't copy/paste his username. Either way, I have nothing more to say to him, so I've left the talk page alone since that last revert.— Dædαlus Contribs 08:10, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Probably wise; he's clearly not responding in a reasonable fashion, and it's pointless to try reasoning with the unreasonable. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 19:08, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
ENI Article
Hi Mendaliv, I saw your question on the ENI talk page. ENI's stock is listed in a number of places as you should use the one for the Milan Stock Exchange as that is its primary listing. You can find financial information on ENI's investor relations page[1] or on the website of the Milan stock exchange[2]
hope that helps! Cesariano (talk) 15:09, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

WP:FILMS Coordinator Election
well
if you check Nukes4Tots' talk page, and the page of the admin who blocked him [[3]], you'll see he was actually supposed to be blocked a second time, and the admin claimed that he did block him, except forgot to actually perform the technical procedure of the block. So that's why i said he was blocked twice. for all intents and purposes, he was blocked. his edits were reverted by the admin when he realized he forgot to actually do the block after telling him he was blocked. if you still think that doesn't count as a block, I can modify the message. I just thought it'd be a lot to explain Theserialcomma (talk) 07:27, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- Right, I noticed this about a minute after posting to your talk page. Sorry for the trouble. :-) —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 07:28, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Ya, heh, I tried it with include only tags, and found that it made any text he put there hidden, except for in the transclusion.— Dædαlus Contribs 00:33, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Pretty weird. I guess it doesn't work like normal template stuff. :-\ —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 00:35, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you
I just wanted to thank you for this post - it's well written and polite (and definitely not arrogant!), whilst still getting the important points across. Having read that forum thread, I have my reservations as to whether it will do any good, but it's a good start. Thank you! TalkIslander 09:06, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Ban Time
I'm not going to revert you, but instead bring it up here. Duvora, as far as I could tell, made it clear his ban was indefinite, but if he wanted to appeal, he should wait six months until doing so, so... could you please remove that time thing?— Dædαlus Contribs 06:27, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Eh, sure. :-) —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 06:29, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Denis Wood bio'
I have replaced an egregiously bad, and possibly libelous, bio' of Wood with the one, late last year, we discussed.
The bio' replaced has egregious erors and its unfounded statement
about the sexual history of Wood's partner is potentially libelous. Nor is this bio' about the writer's work--the necessary focus of a bio'--but more about his sexual and legal history.
The one that replaces it does not ignore the legal history but focuses on the issue of the writer, his work. If you can, please take a look and let me know if I've acted appropriately. --Tomkoch (talk) 17:57, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to say, Tom, that it appears someone has objected to your out-and-out replacement of the current article and reverted your changes. I'm sorry that I haven't had time to help out with this issue; I've been rather busy trying to find a job. I've put a listing up at WP:EAR to ask for outside help in working on combining the information in your version with the version already at Denis Wood. Sorry to back out at this point, but it's getting harder to find free time for Wikipedia these days. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 10:58, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

- You may believe you're helping out the Wikipedia community, but I promise you, if you continue to use automated tools like Twinkle in the way you have been, you'll be swiftly blocked. The Wikipedia community has very high expectations of behavior for editors who use such tools. I strongly, strongly suggest you follow my advice above and remove Twinkle from your monobook.js page and then try to edit without it for awhile so you can properly learn the ropes here. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 02:47, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

- I haven't noticed before the last few days, but I think it's quite an astute observation. I'm especially disappointed to see that this most recent EAR thread just degenerated into a continuation of the argument from the original talk page. I genuinely hope that, if someone brings Tennis expert to WQA, these user interaction issues can be resolved. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 15:29, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
