Silent picture lobby art September 2015
[edit]These lobby posters I think are a tad better representative of their articles, a good deal of them lost films. I would like to see more of the silent articles with colorful lobby cards or if possible posters. The original silent patrons were drawn in by the flashy posters that promised. Newspaper adverts (even the smeared smudgy ones) are fine when on viable art can be had.
The first two are short films "Play Safe" (1927) and "A Canine Sherlock Holmes" (1912), I usually try to stay away from shorts but these two wer irresistibly cute. The two Lila Lee films had great newspaper adds with not too much smear so I included them.

Frances Stewart
[edit]I'm working on an article for Frances Benedict Stewart. I found a photo [1] but it is in pretty rough condition. Is it salvageable? Would have to be fair more than likely. SusunW (talk) 15:37, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- Photo is great! I am so curious as to what she did to get excommunicated. Complete silence on the issue that I can find and after 40 years of service and being the spokesperson for the faith. A puzzlement ... SusunW (talk) 18:04, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
I tried them up and down, but they take up the whole side and I won't be able to put other images in. I am thinking I might like horizontal, except the sizes are not uniform. Is there a way it can be fixed? There are lots more photos on Commons so you might find one you like better, but I tried to make sure each of the clubhouses were covered since the styles are so varied and it is about the architect. I haven't written the section yet about the Buena Vista House, but I'd like to have a picture of it. Are any of these useable? As always, I am extremely appreciative of your skill and help :) SusunW (talk) 05:48, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- I found a Hathitrust book written by the owner of Buena Vista with photos. The book dates from 1914. Does that help? [2] SusunW (talk) 20:41, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- I see you haven't been on in several days so I am going to go ahead and upload these. Assuming they are PD as pre-1923. But, if you come back and can fix the sizing issue, that'd be lovely. SusunW (talk) 18:03, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Copyright
[edit]Hi, I wanted to know whether Florence Marly's this image is copyrighted or not. I searched for Tokyo File 212's lobby cards but they have "copyright" written on them. Regards, --Skr15081997 (talk) 06:13, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
- User:Skr15081997, is there a back of the Florence Marly photo uploaded at eBay? We'll need to see that to determine if the photo is PD or not. Some companies stamped the back of their photos. We also need to know when it was published. Had a look at the information for Tokyo File 212 and found that it was a US/Japanese film project. While we might be able to search to see if the US copyright was renewed, there may be a Japanese copyright as well. If you can post the eBay auction link here, maybe we can learn more about the Florence Marly photo. We hope (talk) 16:32, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
- I couldn't find the auction page for the above photo. Here are 2 more ([4], [5]) that might be useful. They appear to be from 1940-49. I found 1 Argentine magazine cover featuring her from 1949 but it is copyrighted.--Skr15081997 (talk) 08:44, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
- Skr15081997, the trouble with all of these photos is that there's nothing to show us who took the photo or when it was taken. Without that information, there's nothing to prove the photo is in the public domain. I found something last night. See what you think of this. There's at least one more photo I know of which is in the public domain, if you want it. We hope (talk) 14:19, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the amazing picture. The image used previously at Marly's page was a still from Tokyo File 212. The movie seems to be protected by Japanese copyright laws and I would soon request for the deletion of the image. I want to create a category of Marly's photos at Commons, your second image would also be put to good use. Regards, --Skr15081997 (talk) 10:48, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
Copyright question
[edit]Hi. Hope you're well. I was wondering if you could verify whether I could use this image using NFCC in the article I created Albertine Winner as the person died in 1988? [[6]] Cowlibob (talk) 16:47, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- Cowlibob, that should be fine as you're allowed to use a non-free photo to identify a person who's deceased. ;) We hope (talk) 17:22, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

- That is not only a good find, but some fantastic legwork. I think small is fine, the publicity photo works well for the main image, and the TV Guide image I'll use in the article body. Thank you yet again! 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 15:20, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
- I wouldn't use Discogs as a reliable source. Don't get me wrong, it is one of my favorite sites, but it is user-edited, like Wikipedia. It is also highly incomplete, so I don't think we can say with certainty he only issued one album for them. Also, I doubt he signed with Design records, a low-budget label. They probably used some old radio recordings. It's always hard to tell with the 50s/60s budget labels, occasionally they did issue excellent quality original material. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 21:32, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
- User:78.26 Not really sure what's up with it. Here's a listing of the 45's he made and you see that he was with MGM in 1956. The discogs seems to be the only place I can locate any information on Design Records (from that era); the news clipping says he was now with the label with a 45 Saturday's Kisses and Put Your Heart Next to Mine. Going to AllMusic, this is all there is. ????? We hope (talk) 22:19, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
- Back to Charlie Applewhite. I think we should go ahead and nominate, unless there is a fact you find of particular interest you haven't added yet. Otherwise, what do you find most interesting? I'll make a hook (unless you want to) and we'll see what happens. Thanks! 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 03:12, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

- User:78.26, I think everything that's available is in the article now. What's interesting to me is he seemed to have gotten so many lucky breaks that he was guaranteed to be a star. But it looks like the combination of the end of Milton Berle's show and being drafted into the army took a heavy toll on his career. Many thought being drafted would be the end of Elvis' career; it didn't happen to him but it does look like it played a role in snuffing out Applewhite's. Go ahead and nominate. Will leave the hook up to you as I see my time will be spent here working on ref links for a vet med article as was the case yesterday. ;-) We hope (talk) 13:21, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Diabetes in dogs
[edit]I'm trying to figure out why you put a nobots template up. Cyberbot didn't do anything wrong with the article in question. I removed it and let Cyberbot run on it again, to repair citation formatting. As a note, archives need to use the archiveurl parameter, while retaining the original url in the url field. Cyberbot has done this for you, and the links will still link through to the archive. This is to keep consistent with established usage of cite templates.—cyberpowerChat:Limited Access 16:54, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- User:C678, after spending a couple of hours or more updating vet med article links, it wasn't something I wanted to do again for a while and it appeared that the bot had changed some of the refs I'd corrected. Some of the links which needed to be changed were the result of the website moving pages, so you get something like "not found" from the website. I just didn't want to revisit the websites in question and search for the articles again. We hope (talk) 17:08, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- You needn't worry. Cyberbot doesn't undermine the work of others if they added their own archives. It simply fixes the formatting. The generated output will still take you to that archive. Actually Cyberbot can do all your work for you. Just tag the dead sources as dead. Cyberbot will swoop in and fix them for you.—cyberpowerChat:Limited Access 17:12, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

Hello, We hope. How is everything with you? I'm currently working on this great acting thespian (on my own interest and as a part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Wales/Awaken the Dragon) and planning to bring him to GA status for now. I've found some really nice images of Burton from Getty Images. Can you tell me which ones are free and which are not? It would be really great if you do so. Also, it would be helpful if you found some more extra free images, particularly Burton as a boy. Thanks. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 12:06, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

- Let me view the trailer and if there's no notice, we can change the license on File:Burton The Robe 1953.png to PD . ::OK-saw the trailer at the link. There are no copyright notices. It's in color but the file listed above as being a screenshot is in black and white. We can't change the license to that, but you certainly can take screenshots from the trailer at the link as PD. :-) We hope (talk) 13:51, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

- Here's a brand new one from ebay.
- Sea Wife is a British film, so we have to forget about that. The photo was distributed in Argentina (where the seller's from), so we can't count that as US publication either. We hope (talk) 13:33, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- Another one from the same film
- We don't know who produced the photo-it could be a copy that wasn't created legally. Until/unless we see proof of who issued it, we can't say it's PD. We hope (talk) 13:33, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- A 1972 one
- Link is to the same Trotsky photo as above. We hope (talk) 13:33, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- A 1967 one
- The link goes to a 1967 phot of Burton as Dr. Faustus. Take a good look at the lower right corner of the photo. There's a "C" in circle copyright mark there. We hope (talk) 13:33, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

- I believe this one too, do check
- Not sure whether this one has been clipped or not (meaning if it was, there may have been copyright information on the bottom) and it has no publication date on it--no date stamp to show when it was used by media. We hope (talk) 13:33, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- Sandpiper
- No date stamp here either. We hope (talk) 13:33, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- As for this image from The Robe, the uploader states that "If the photograph contains relevant information such as a stamp or news article, marks, stains or anything written in it, the back will be revealed. If not, only the front of the photo is shown and the back can be assumed plain and clear." — If this is so, does it mean it is in PD? — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 10:14, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- We can't assume anything. The seller doesn't show the back of the photo--where we may find a copyright notice and or date stamp to tell us when it was published--because the PD licenses are based on the dates works were produced. I'm not saying the seller isn't telling the truth, but we have to be able to have a way to prove this if someone says "show me". There are times you can do this by reading and citing links, finding another copy of the image that shows both sides and has a date on it and so on, but we have to be able to provide proof of PD. File:Richard Burton - The Robe.jpg This is at Commons and it's the same photo from the same seller--it had no proof as mentioned above when it was uploaded in 2012.
- Let's take a look at some photos of Sinatra from 20th Century Fox that show a back and date stamp- File:Frank Sinatra as Tony Rome.jpg File:4 for Texas Frank Sinatra.jpg File:Frank Sinatra Von Ryan's Express.jpg All have either an archived link to the complete photo and back or a copy of them showing no copyright marks and date when it was used (published) by media. Also, take some time when selecting photos from Commons to see who the uploader is. If that uploader has a history of deletions for copyright issues, there's a good chance the photo you want to use in the article may "disappear"--especially if the article is going through FAC. ;) We hope (talk) 13:33, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- So, none of them can be used. Well, did you find any copyrights on The Robe's trailer? — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 13:52, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- Just posted above that the trailer has no copyright marks, so you can take as many screenshots as you like. :-) We hope (talk) 13:54, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Hi We hope, I have recently been working on Walt Disney, which is now up for PR. Any thoughts or comments on his huge figure would be much appreciated. Cheers – SchroCat (talk) 11:35, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hi We Hope, I am absolutely useless in tracking down copyright info, and know you are something of a star when it comes to it, so can I ask a favour on a couple of files Crisco has queried on the Walt Disney PR? He has left the comment:
- File:Walt Disney Snow white 1937 trailer screenshot (13).jpg and all other screenshots of trailers (File:Cinderella 1950 Disney.jpg, : the rationale "Trailers for movies released before 1964 are in the Public Domain because they were never separately copyrighted" is incorrect. I've spotted several in the past that did have copyright notices, and Disney, from early on, was assiduous about enforcing his/its copyright. You'll need to watch each of the source trailers and see if there is a copyright notice.

DYK for Charlie Applewhite
[edit]On 26 April 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Charlie Applewhite, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that as a boy, Charlie Applewhite (pictured) sang on Fort Worth street corners when his allowance ran out? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Charlie Applewhite. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Charlie Applewhite), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I need help
[edit]A few minutes ago, I posted a new article, Joan Edwards (radio singer). I wonder if you could tell me what to do to resolve a small problem.
Wikipedia already had an article about Joan C. Edwards. The top of that page notes the existence of a redirect so that if one types "Joan Edwards" in the search box, he or she automatically reaches the Joan C. Edwards page.
Is there a way to delete the redirect page and instead have a disambiguation page so that if someone types "Joan Edwards" in the search box, links to both pages would appear? I put a note at the top of the JCE page with a link to the new article, but a disambiguation page would be good, too. Eddie Blick (talk) 15:54, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- I just saw that you changed the redirect page to a disambiguation page. Thanks! I appreciate your doing that. Eddie Blick (talk) 17:27, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

- Thanks. I love that Internet Archive and was aware of the trade pubs digitized over there. Other sources like the Kodascope catalog are helpful. The silent film book by Daniel Blum "Pictorial History of the Silent Film" is invaluable though I still would like to pick up an actual copy off Amazon or Alibris or something. It would be nice if other Blum books such as "Great Stars of the American Stage" were digitized as well. My version of the "Kiss of Hate" poster was from an ebay offering and is slightly murkier, as if someone was smoking a cigarette in front of it and the wafts of smoke floating across. But glad to see a better archived version exists. Koplimek (talk) 16:52, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

Upcoming rebroadcast of episode of Johnny Mercer's Music Shop
[edit]Awhile back we exchanged messages about Jo Stafford's performances on Johnny Mercer's Music Shop. Therefore, seeing an episode of that show listed among a group of OTR programs to be rebroadcast on August 6 caught my attention.
It's part of a program with the umbrella title Those Were the Days. The station is in Illinois, but it has an Internet feed at www.wdcb.org. The hours are 1-5 p.m. (I assume that's Central Time, with the Illinois location.) If they follow the order listed, the Music Shop will be the third of nine OTR programs.
The episode is probably one that you have heard before, but I wanted to let you know, in case you might want to listen. No specific date is given for the episode -- just "1940s."Eddie Blick (talk) 02:53, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
Help?
[edit]Hi, I was wondering if you could help me in finding photos for the Monroe article? I know it's already a FA, but I think some sections could be illustrated with better images. In particular, I'd like to find a new still/publicity photo from Bus Stop (preferably one where she isn't smiling/wearing a dancer's costume to better demonstrate the difference to her earlier films), an image of her and Miller (maybe one from their wedding?), and an image from the set of Something's Got to Give. It would also be great to find images from her modeling career (e.g. a pin-up mag cover). I did some eBay searches and found the following, do you think they could be used?:
- The entire magazine can be seen here. I just checked the title "Modern Screen" at copyright.gov and see no renewals--only newer registrations, so anything there is copyright not renewed. We hope (talk) 21:25, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- There's nothing to show us who took the photo or when it was published. We hope (talk) 21:26, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- I'm skeptical about this one because what the seller is offering is a print of the lobby card. By 1948, most posters and lobby cards had copyright marks. Outside of the vary small studios, the only ones I can think of who didn't mark their material by 1948 are Republic and Monogram. We hope (talk) 22:02, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- Here's a look at a much larger scan of this poster. Scroll down to the end of the poster and look at the left as there's a 1948 Columbia Pictures copyright notice. We hope (talk) 21:56, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- Bus Stop publicity still, does mention copyright but also free to be used by newspapers & magazines, can't find any evidence of promotional material cr being renewed
- Monroe-Miller wedding
- Monroe in 1952
- I need to do more checking for the rest of these. Re: the free for newspapers & magazines, the "catch" here is to find the photo published in a newspaper or magazine that was not renewed. This is an example of what I mean. The magazine published the photo and the magazine wasn't renewed. We hope (talk) 22:40, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- No worries, thank you so much for your help! The magazine you got The Misfits photo from seems to have a lot of great images — the shot where she's standing below the Actors' Studio sign would be perfect! It would also be wonderful if we could use some of the childhood images.TrueHeartSusie3 (talk) 09:58, 30 June 2016 (UTC)TrueHeartSusie3

Your advice, please
[edit]I have nearly finished work on a new article, User:Teblick/Lillian Cornell (actress). I was going to call it simply "Lydia Cornell," but the setup process brought up a page that said:
- A page with this title has previously been moved or deleted.
- If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue. If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the user(s) who performed the action(s) listed below.
- 06:50, 25 January 2009 Nihiltres (talk | contribs) deleted page Lillian Cornell (Expired PROD, concern was: No evidence of meeting WP:ENTERTAINER.)
Therefore, I added "(actress)" to her name in the title.
Now I am wondering whether I should contact the person cited above before I post the article. Would I be violating Wikipedia protocol to post it as it is? Eddie Blick (talk) 21:14, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi Eddie, I hope you don't mind me butting in. The deleted article was the same individual. The deleted version had no sources, and in fact had several factual inaccuracies. You article should be moved on top of the deleted one. I'm going to do this for you. I can always undo it if you think I'm too presumptuous. All the best, 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 21:22, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, kind sir, as always! :) We hope (talk) 21:25, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you! I don't mind a bit; in fact, I appreciate the feedback and the help in moving the article. I should be able to add some links from other articles in a couple of hours. I don't have time now, but a search that I did earlier showed five or six articles that mention her, so I can link from them to the new one. Thanks again. Eddie Blick (talk) 21:30, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi We Hope
[edit]Hi We Hope, I had a question about the publication of at least two images I created myself, but did not release them under free use. Instead I restricted the images to be used as information purposes only and that no profit or advertisement should be made. Is this possible under wp:fair use, or would I have to remove them under these circumstances. You can reply here only, I'll check back. Thanks--Taeyebar 02:23, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, they would be fair use because of the restriction of no commercial use. Even though WP is not using images for profit, those classed as public domain have to be available for use in any type of situation. We hope (talk) 02:30, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
- And it even applies to images I myself created? Thanks.--Taeyebar 02:32, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, because you're the one who has set the restrictions. I don't know where the images have been uploaded or whether they have CC licenses, but know that if someone has uploaded something to Flickr, for example, the uploader is able to change the licensing. After a request from a WP editor to change an image to a non-restrictive CC license, many Flickr members have done so. We hope (talk) 02:39, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
- OK Thanks. Have a great night!--Taeyebar 02:48, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
Misunderstanding?
[edit]- Gerda, please try and be truthful. Only one editor has made a baseless, unfounded and uncivil accusation of OWNership; it's part of their usual modus operandi and no surprise to see it rear it's untruthful head at the Holst thread. It is a rather divisive, disruptive and tendentious tactic - much like your constant "suggestions" of idiotboxes on article. (and as most of the flashmob has already turned up at the thread above, I don't find it difficult to imagine they will be back again to press their narrow agenda). - SchroCat (talk) 14:30, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- Of course you do. - SchroCat (talk) 15:08, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- I am the user referred to here, I am not very comfortable having these discussions on someone else's talk page, but yes I do realise that there is a bottom navbox, however I much prefer the side navbox to an infobox because it has a picture of the composer as well as links to all the other hundreds of articles about works of Handel. The infobox that was added just repeats information in the lead (actually it had the wrong date for the premiere of Giulio Cesare in it) and takes away the unifying image of Handel for his works.Smeat75 (talk) 15:55, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- So because one editor says something you agree with, Voceditenore now "speak[s] for project opera"? Odd how you'll swallow that simply because they say something you agree with! - SchroCat (talk) 15:11, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- One person does not speak for a project. If the tables were reversed, you and the other IB warriors would be frothing at the mouth with accusations of OWNership, so spare me the hypocrisy with trying to force one editors opinion on me. - SchroCat (talk) 15:31, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
User:SchroCat, User:Gerda Arendt, User:Smeat75 Going on record on my talk page to say that I have always believed to include or exclude an infobox is up to the main editors of an article. I don't believe someone should be going around removing them-and I have yet to see a patrol removing infoboxes from articles. Infoboxes have been removed when articles have undergone major changes and those removals were by the main editor(s) of the respective article; there's no group of editors traveling WP in search of infoboxes to remove from articles. However, I HAVE seen people either adding infoboxes without checking to see what the consensus is or pro-infobox arguments suddenly break out at articles; some of the articles have had the infobox question applied multiple times.
What I am saying is that both sides of the philosophy could and should be using their time at WP in a better manner. There are close to two million stubs in this encyclopedia. Many consist of a sentence, perhaps two of real information about the subject and many times, an infobox. Someone looking for more information does not come to WP to see the infoboxes and come away impressed with all of the infoboxes they've seen here. Expanding these articles with reliable information, and yes, creating new articles with reliable information is the way to serve "the reader"-give them what they want-real information-not infoboxes. We hope (talk) 18:28, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I started an expansion. Would you be able to flesh out the history of the club and add any images? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 22:13, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for your edits. I think it's enough to nominate for a 5x expansion at DYK. I was just wondering when the club opened? Yoninah (talk) 16:04, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

I am sure it is no, but I'm asking anyway. This] is the only photo I have found of Johns. Obviously would have to be fair use, but is there a way to get rid of the watermarks? SusunW (talk) 15:45, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your help. I hope I followed the instructions properly. I sent it to the graphics department and now my fingers are crossed. (I am batting 1000 this month. Every article I have written on indigenous women has a photo :) )SusunW (talk) 17:27, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
One picture uploaded
[edit]Thanks for your response in the copyrights discussion earlier today!
I found an image in the January 1941 issue of Radio and Television Mirror that I can use in a Wikipedia article that I am about to publish. I feared that I had done something wrong, because at the end of the process of submitting the file to Wikimedia, an error message appeared. However, when I thought I would have to try the upload again, I found that the file was already in place on Wikimedia. You can see its page here. If you notice anything that I should have done differently, please tell me. Eddie Blick (talk) 19:13, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback. I have added the links and comments that you suggested, and I will follow that example with future uploads. As always, I greatly appreciate your help. Eddie Blick (talk) 20:15, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
Hi, I just created this article. I wonder if you could help me with a historical question. I found a few newspaper articles that mentioned an Alice Dixon marrying Herndon Daniels, a "sportsman" who was arrested for tax evasion, in 1939; he was associated with the Little Belmont Bar in Atlantic City (see here). The Atlantic City Free Public Library page says that Hernan Daniels married Grace after World War II and they were the owners of the bar since the mid-1930s. Could it be that Hernan was released from jail and remarried after WWII, or that the first couple has nothing to do with the second? Thanks for any light you can shed on this question. DYK for Babette's

The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Babette's. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Babette's), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. My gosh, sorry to hear you're disenchanted. Your work, from my pov, whether they are the lobby cards/posters, the valedictorian articles you wrote about Wales, is much appreciated. If you go away for a deserved sabbatical and then decide to lead on with your endeavors, good luck to you always. Thanks much. Koplimek (talk) 16:43, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, no. I wish you could just disengage from the petty squabbles and just work on things you like, like I do. I just came across this picture on page 32 of Jet. Could it be uploaded as PD or Fair Use? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 00:10, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Was the Baltimore Afro-American's copyright renewed? There's a fuzzy picture of the Wonder Bar on page 1 above the headline "Night Clubs at Shore Raided". Yoninah (talk) 21:25, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
A question about categories related to radio
[edit]As I was adding categories to the Hollace Shaw article, I wondered about something. Why are there no music-related categories for individuals in old-time radio? "American radio ..." categories include actors, actresses, directors, executives, etc. but no singers, orchestra leaders, musicians or anything like that. Perhaps I'm missing something. I just wanted to know your thoughts on the topic. Eddie Blick (talk) 02:24, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick feedback. As I have time, I will see what I can do about creating some appropriate categories and adding them to articles. I 'll start with articles that I have created and then expand from that group. Eddie Blick (talk) 02:38, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

This is just a reminder that Wikipedia:WikiProject England/The West Country Challenge kicks off today, with the first subject being Bristol. Please remember to post entries under your name at Wikipedia:WikiProject England/The West Country Challenge/Bristol. You are receiving this message because you are listed as a participant in the challenge.
Happy editing! --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:46, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
The first leg is Bristol. Names are to be added at the bottom of the Bristol page and articles listed. Please also make sure that you add entries you improve/start to the main list on the main page. There will be £10 to win each day for the most points accumulated and then the winner of the county crowed after three days. The overall winner will be decided from the points accumulated from each county round. If you're not interested in winning anything and want to contribute anything you want from the West Country this is fine too though. Best of luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:55, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

Question about size of photo in infobox
[edit]I have posted a new article, Joyce Jordan, M.D., and I'm curious about why the image in the infobox is so small. Before I found the group photo, I had an image of Elspeth Eric in the box, and it was much smaller than the same image appears in the infobox in the Elspeth Eric article. Do you know why the image in the Jordan box is smaller? Do you know how I can make it larger? Eddie Blick (talk) 13:45, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
Re: Image in infobox
[edit]Thanks for the suggestion about adding the "250px" coding. I didn't know that could be done in an infobox. I used it, and the image looks much better.
The page that you provided the link to is the one from which I got the picture to upload to Wikimedia Commons. That's one reason I was surprised that the reproduction in the Joyce Jordan, M.D. infobox was so small. I knew that the original image was large when I uploaded it to WC.
I appreciate your help, as always. Eddie Blick (talk) 14:15, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
